Evelyn's POV

A sharp, blinding light pierced my eyelids. The sterile scent of antiseptic clung to the air around me. My body felt like lead…aching, drained, every muscle sore. I blinked slowly, once, twice, until the blur faded and I saw him.

Louis.

My husband.

His tall frame was hunched over the edge of the hospital bed, his fingers wrapped around mine like a lifeline. His hair was damp and disheveled, clinging to his forehead. His face…God, his face…ooked like it had aged ten years. Shadows hollowed his cheeks, and worry carved into every line around his eyes.

As soon as my eyes fluttered open, he noticed.

"Evelyn?" His voice cracked as he leaned closer, brushing my hair away from my forehead. "You’re awake... thank God. How are you feeling? Are you okay? Does anything hurt?" He was speaking too fast, panic bleeding into every word.

I turned my head slightly and spotted the iPad on the side table. My trembling fingers reached for it, and Louis quickly helped me position it. I typed

  • My Wife, My Blackmailer    Found

Louis' POVThe rain was already falling when Dave pulled into the compound. I didn’t wait for the car to fully stop. I yanked the door open, my shoes splashing into a shallow puddle as I stormed across the gravel, coat flapping behind me.“Dave,” I called, breath steaming in the cold night air. “What about my wife? Where is she?”He stepped out slowly, face pale under the dim porch light. Water clung to his brows, his shirt soaked through beneath his open jacket. He looked like a man who had been chasing shadows.“We didn’t find her,” he said quietly.I stopped in my tracks.“What?”Dave didn’t meet my eyes. “We searched every where, and threre’s nothing. Not even a trace of your wife.”My hand balled into a fist. Rain slicked over my knuckles.“No.” My voice was flat, but inside me, everything screamed. “She has to be somewhere. She wouldn’t just vanish.”“She did,” Dave said, voice low. “Louis, we’ve hit dead ends all day.”I turned away, breath catching in my throat. The rain soake

  • My Wife, My Blackmailer    Shattered silence

Evelyn’s POVThe moment the lock clicked behind him, I collapsed back against the cold mattress, clutching my side. My fingertips came away sticky, still blood. Still pain. Still trapped.I glanced around, my pulse pounding against my temples. The room, though regal in appearance, was nothing more than a gilded cage. Every corner was watched. Every object, controlled. But something inside me stirred, faint and fragile.Run.The voice in my head wasn’t loud, but it was determined.I shifted slowly, groaning as I swung my legs to the side of the bed. My hospital gown clung to my body, damp with sweat and blood. Every breath was a battle. But I had to move.I had to fight.I reached up, shakily, and pulled a single pin from my tangled hair, a thin silver clip I always kept tucked behind my ear. My hands trembled violently as I crouched by the door, jamming the pin into the keyhole. Click. Twist. Rattle. My heartbeat was deafening in the silence. It didn’t work.“Damn it,” I whispered, my

  • My Wife, My Blackmailer    The search

Louis’ POVI couldn’t sit still. My feet were raw from pacing the marble tiles of the living room, the echo of each step bouncing off the cold, empty walls of a house that no longer felt like home. My hands were shaking. I had no appetite, no sleep, and absolutely no peace. She was gone.Evelyn.Every second that passed without her felt like acid dripping into my veins.“Boss, please,” Dave said from the corner of the room, seated stiffly on the edge of the couch. His voice was calm, but I could hear the doubt behind it. “You need to breathe. We’re going to find her. We will. Even though she's not worth finding.“She has to be found,” I snapped, my voice rougher than I meant. “And don’t ever say she’s not worth finding. Don’t you dare say that again.”Dave blinked, caught off guard by the fury in my tone. “I didn’t mean it like that. I just meant..”“I don’t care how you meant it,” I growled. My eyes locked on his. “She’s my wife. And she’s not just worth finding—she’s everything.”Da

  • My Wife, My Blackmailer    The room

Evelyn’s POVMy eyes fluttered open slowly, heavy with exhaustion, pain, and something else…something numb and unfamiliar. The air was cold, sterile, yet somehow… luxurious. I blinked twice. The ceiling above me was high, ornate. Gold patterns ran along the edges like something out of an expensive hotel or a palace. A chandelier swung gently above, casting delicate shadows on the pristine white walls.Where was I?I tried to sit up, but a sharp, piercing pain cut through my abdomen like a blade. I winced, clutching my stomach. My breath came out in a gasp. What happened to me?What… had they done?I turned my head slowly and froze. He was there.Sitting in the corner like a predator who had been watching me sleep. His legs were crossed, his sleeves rolled up, a smug smirk playing on his lips. The man who haunted every moment of my torment. The man behind the blackmail. The reason I betrayed my husband.“You,” I rasped, voice thin and shaky. “What did you do to me? Why am I here? Where

  • My Wife, My Blackmailer    Missing

Louis’ POVThe moment the alarm blared…“Code 00”..my heart nearly exploded in my chest.I sprinted down the hall like a man possessed. The sterile white walls of the hospital blurred past me, people shouting, nurses rushing, machines wheeling, but I didn’t hear any of it. All I could hear was the sound of my own breath, ragged, shallow, panicked.“Doctor!” I yelled, catching a glimpse of his white coat as he rushed toward the room.He turned just as I reached him.“Doctor, please…my wife…what's happening? What’s going on with my wife? Tell me, damn it!”He didn’t say anything right away. His face... his face said everything.No. No. No.His eyes locked onto mine. No blinking. No softness. Just a stillness that screamed something final. Then, with the calm cruelty of protocol, he said the words I never imagined I’d hear.“Time of death…..”Silence.I blinked. Once. Twice.Everything around me froze. My mind screamed, but no sound came out. My lips moved, searching for words that didn’t
