Chapter 5: The good news

A flashback to a phone conversation.

"Yes, hello? What's the matter?" asked Jane, calling on the line.

"Jane, It's all about your previous examination. You can take it whenever you want. The professors told me that Jester arranged everything."

That's the reason Jirah's tears fell and she was able to drop her phone. The good news was really important to her because all this time, she thought she might have failed her subjects regarding her skipping of the semi-final exam.

"What happened dear?" her mother asked.

"Mom, I can still take my semi-final examination today. Hoooh,"

While jumping with joy, her mother replied, "Is special examination allowed at your school?"

"I don't know, maybe it is! What's most important is, I can still graduate without failing subjects. This is the only gift I can give to Papa even though he is not here."

"Ok dear, take your time."

"I have to go, mom. Goodbye," with a kiss on her mother's cheeks.

Jane showed herself to school together with her friends, Lila and Henry. Her classmates were so glad that she finally got back to school to continue her dreams. The first thing she did was catch up on the latest lessons in every subject, and during her free time, she went to see the professors to take the semi-final exam.

It was really hard for her to study in the daytime while doing part-time jobs at night. But, she was determined to live such a challenging life.

Until then, the school year ended, and Jester also graduated from his course. After graduation, the man decided to treat Jane to dinner.

"Totoot, toottoot," the sound of Jane's call ringtone.

She pressed the answer button and said, "Who's there Pokemon?"

The man on the other line smiled at once and replied, "Wow! If I'm your Pokemon, I'd love to say that you are my Sailor Moon."

"What kind of name is that, Jester?" she asked.

"Quiet cute, but amazing loveteam, hehe...Well, going back to my purpose, why am I calling you? I want to ask if you're vacant tonight?"

"Ahm, maybe... yes."

"Okay, is it okay if I want to invite you to a short dinner?"

"Ah... yes."

"Okay thanks, I will wait for you tonight at exactly..." he sighed and looked at his watch, and continued speaking. "At 6:30 p.m., Jane."

"Copy."

And she ended the call afterward.

Jester hugged his phone and felt a giggle moment after the call. After about three weeks of friendship, he finally realized the call in his heart.

At the restaurant, the first person who came to the table was Jester. He wore a white checkered polo paired with blue Jag pants, and his hair dough matched his handsome face.

The lady who came near the table was none other than Jane. As she got near the man, she said to him, "Do I look nerdy?" While the man was in stunned mode.

"Hey, Jester," she said again in a loud voice.

The man sitting at the table was still stunned, as if he had seen a celebrity in front of him. Jane was wearing only a plain red dress and light make-up, but her beauty was attractive to look at. Jester couldn't believe how beautiful it was to look at a woman who was simple and artless.

"Ha? No! You are so beautiful in my eyes," he said while thinking a little about what to say next.

"Tsk," she answered abruptly.

Then, she sat in the chair being handled by the man. Later, Jester opened the topic.

"Jane, I'm leaving for a new life in the US tomorrow."

Jane was shocked by what the man said. She thought that their happy beginning would be cut short because the man would leave immediately. She didn't believe it would go away. She just thought it was a prank, but it was true.

"Ha? Why do you seem to be in a hurry?""

It's not me. It's my parents' plan for me."

"Will you come back here?"

"I don't know, maybe no or maybe yes. It depends on the situation."

"Ah... okay."

Her heart ached a little. She couldn't understand why, though she was quite receptive.

"But if there's someone who misses me here, I'll strive hard to find a way to visit her here in the Philippines."

"Really?"

And suddenly, the girl's spirit came alive in the hope that those words spoken by the man might sound like hers.

"Jane..." The man held Jane's face and quickly kissed her lips deeply.

Jester gave the woman a passionate kiss while she was just like a robot. She didn't know if he would reciprocate the kiss or just let that moment go first. Until their faces parted and she heard the man say, "I like you."

Jane's pulse bumped so fast that even the flow of her blood couldn't control it. She also didn’t know what she was going to answer. Until she heard the man speak loudly.

"Jane? Hey?" sudden arousal from the maiden's stupor.

Jane floated in the kiss that the man gave her. Yes, it was her first kiss, so she was worried about how to answer the man's questions.

"Ah, yes!" she replied to him.

"Why are you dazed? Aren't you going to tell me anything too?"

"I'm sorry. What is that?" Then they laughed.

"I said, I like you."

She wanted to tell him that she wanted him too, but she was hesitant lest she just misunderstood everything.

"But you're leaving, aren't you?" she asked.

"Yes, but if you give me a chance, maybe—"

When the man gave a hint, he answered first.

"Yes," she replied all of a sudden.

"Did I hear right? Hehe, you haven't even let me finish speaking."

"We might get in there, anyway. Ah, but I want to finish my degree. It's okay for me for you to leave. Don't worry, I'll still be waiting for you."

"Thank you, Jane."

And the man hugged the new girlfriend. He couldn't believe that Jane's heart was so soft. The formerly shy person has become aggressive as well.

The next day, Jester flew with his parents to America. He also embraced the new life there, a place far away from his beloved.
