I eventually settled with a wine coloured floral lace dress with a very daring plunging halter neckline. It hugged my figure like a second skin.

I have never dared to wear something like this. The last time I did, Mom told me I shouldn't dress like a slut and that it doesn't suit me.

I wanted to put it back, but with encouragement from Owen and the sales representative, I surprisingly got it.

I tried paying for the dress with my own money, but Owen shoved me aside and gave Mason's card to the sales representative.

While deep down I was a little grateful. The dress was rather on the pricey side.

I wore the dress and put on some earrings to match the dress. I styled my brown hair in loose waves that fell down my back, stopping at my waist.

I looked at myself in the mirror, pleased with the look and made my way downstairs.

At the bottom of the stairs, Mason stood with his back to me and his phone pressed to his ears talking to someone on the other line.

His midnight-dark hair was styled back in place, and a dark suit with a crisp white shirt underneath, paired with a wine-colored tie that matched my dress.

A small broke through my lips.

I suddenly realized why Jason asked me for the colour of my dress when I came back from shopping with Owen this afternoon.

I made my way downstairs, my heels clicking against the marble floor. He finally turned towards me and his eyes hardened, his gaze burned into my skin.

I think I saw him take a deep breath. I finally came to a stop in front of him.

He stared straight into my eyes, I shifted in uncomfortably.

Maybe the dress is too much.

I was about to drop my eyes when his hands came up and took my chin in a gentle but firm, not allowing me to move my head down.

"You're beautiful.”

I felt my body heat up, the room suddenly becoming so hot.

Not breaking eye contact, I felt him take my hand, caressing my finger before I felt something cold slip on it.

Looking down, my eyes widened at the huge engagement ring. It was a gold set with a marquis-cut diamond with clusters of accent stones. It came with a matching wedding band too.

The design was so detailed. This type of ring was usually custom-made and so expensive. I looked up at him

"This is too much, I don't deserve it.”

He should give it to a woman he actually loves, not me.

"You're my wife. It's only right for you to have the best. Besides, how am I to let people know that you belong to me?”

He said that looking at me so intensely, his eyes dropping briefly to my lips.

Snap out of it, Iris.

It's all pretense. It's not real.

I said to myself, but I couldn't stop the heat from traveling down my body.

I waved goodbye to Jason and followed him outside, to where a car was already packed waiting for us.

We got in, and I was shocked to see Henry behind the wheel.

"Good evening, sir. Ma’am,” He greeted us.

"Hmmm.” Mason just grunted in reply going back to his phone, working again.

"Good evening Henry. How are you enjoying your evening?" I asked, offering him a smile. He looked genuinely shocked at my question, but he caught himself and offered me a smile.

"It's great, thank you.” I smiled back at him

I was to say something when Mason cleared his throat looking at both of us. We both took it as a sign to end our conversation.

I felt another round of butterflies when we got to the fancy hotel. Henry opened the door for Mason before rushing around to open mine, taking my hands to help me out.

"Thank you,” I said.

Mason rounded the corner to meet us. His eyebrows furrowed when he saw my hand in Henry’s.

He walked over and placed his hands on my back, directing me towards the entrance.

His hands falling on my waist, just above my butt, which felt so natural and yet possessive.

We walked towards the entrance. He spoke from beside me.

"I didn't know you and Henry were close.” I looked up at him. He was staring straight ahead, but his forehead was creased in a small frown.

Was he jealous that Henry was friends with me?

"Oh, we are just friends. Since he is the one that normally drives me when I'm going out, it's nothing."

I felt his hands on my waist tighten a bit, but he didn't say anything more.I heard the soft murmur of voices as we rounded the corner into a very beautiful room packed with people.

My hands flexed around my red clutch. "There's a lot of people here.”

I spotted some of my parents' business partners, whom I’d seen at the company a few times.

Most of the guests stood in small clusters, having conversation with each other. Mason grabbed two glasses of champagne from a passing waiter and gave one to me.

"Here.”

"Thank you.”

I took a sip from it. "When is the auction starting?”

He checked his watch.

“In an hour. Right now, we mingle.” He curled an arm around my waist and cupped my hips, bringing me closer to him than before.

I took a sip of my champagne again trying to cool the heat that has been building up all through the night.

He guided me across the room to a group of people I didn't know. One of them turned to look at him, giving him a beaming smile.

"Ah, Mason.”

The other man beside him turned around and I froze.

"Iris," He said, his eyes wide.

"Ryan.”

Ryan's eyes drifted to my face to Mason's hands wrapped possessively around my waist, to my dress, then finally landing on the huge diamond ring Mason placed on my finger.

Mason lifted me like I weighed nothing and settled me on one thigh, his knee pressing deliciously against my clit. A jolt shot through me. “You’re trembling?” he whispered against my ear. “Has anyone ever touched you like this?” I couldn't answer. His teeth grazed my ear before he nipped, sending pain then waves of pleasure through me. I ground my hips against him without thinking. “Answer me.” “No.” I gasped suddenly, feeling out of breath. I heard his breath hitch, it was barely there but I felt it against my neck. His hand slid up my back, slowing like he was trying to memorize every inch of me. “Say you're mine. I'm the only one that owns this pussy.” “Mason…” I whimpered and all my thoughts were wiped away. “You can't come until you say it, angel”. He pinched my nipples and I yelped. “Yes… I'm yours.” the words tumbling out of me. “You're the only one that owns this pussy. Just please—let me come.” His hands moved to my hips, guiding me, setting the rhythm. Pressing m

We sat across from each other at the dining table, without saying a word. The only sound was that of cutleries. I have gotten used to how quiet it was, but I didn't mind much, because I was used to having dinner in silence. Tonight was different. It was tense. When Mason came home he simply said “Have dinner with me.” Then he walked straight into the dining room. I followed after him, not because I wanted to. At least that's what I'm telling myself. I'm not going to let him know that his leaving me actually made me feel in any way or seeing him with Lily made something ugly and green rise up in the pit of my stomach. Get a grip Iris, I said to myself. I picked at my food, not really having much appetite. Across from me Mason ate in silence. For several minutes the only sounds heard were the clinking of cutlery across the plate. Then he stopped, I didn't look up immediately but when I did I found him staring at me intensely. “About that night.” He said his voice was calm. My

  • My contract husband was meant for me   Chapter Twenty: Not what it seems

I smoothed my hands down my dress for what must have been the hundredth time. The baby pink halter neck mini dress suddenly felt too much for dinner. After my nap that afternoon, Kim had dragged me shopping, insisting I needed something that I actually wanted to seduce my husband. Even though I wasn't too sure about the seducing part, I bought the dress anyway. Then I spent most of my evening preparing dinner. Which involves me chopping veggies and the cook doing most of the cooking. I couldn't bet on my cooking skill. The pancake I made that morning was after a lot of failed practice attempts and more than ten tutorials videos later. I glanced at the clock. Mason should have been home by now. I picked up the glass of water in front of me and took a sip. My stomach twisted. Tonight would change things. Our marriage might be a contract or might have started out without love, but it doesn't mean it has to stay this way. Mason has been good to me all the past three months h

Meanwhile, Henry stood as usual in front of his car waiting for his boss to come out. He was here at 6:55am cause Mason always comes out exactly at 7:00am. He has been standing there for sometime. He checked the time, it was way past seven. He was shocked because his boss is never a minute late, not to talk an hour late. By the time he came out, it was 7:45am. Was that... Was that a smile? Henry's eyes widened in shock. His boss's mouth was tilted to the side a little, it was such a rare occurrence. "Good morning sir.” Henry said as he opened the door for his boss who walked in still with his lips tilted up. “Hmmm.” He answered as usual she got into his car. Henry got into his driver seat and still stared at his boss through his rearview mirror again. He caught his boss' eyes staring at him blankly and he took that as a sign to drive off. After Mason left to work I went upstairs to my room still dazed. But I didn't know why a sudden flood of joy tried to break out my hea

I stared at the ceiling. Hearing Kim mention the plan again makes it sound even more ridiculous. "Kim, I don't know how to seduce anyone. Remember Ryan said I was stiff.” "Fuck Ryan. And you don't really have to know how to seduce anyone. Just make him want you.” "That sounds even harder.” I can hear her sigh from the phone. "Iris, you're a beautiful woman. Forget whatever that dickhead, Ryan, has put in your head. “You can make any guy want you and now you have a very handsome husband that looks like he was God's favorite when he was made. Surely you can figure something out.” I knew she was rolling her eyes from the phone. "Just try these three things,” she continued. "Sit close to him, touch him and then flirt with him.” "And if none of these methods work?" "Then we have our answer.” I had to wait for that evening for Mason to be back from work to start operation seduce Mason. That's what Kim decided to name it. That evening after dinner, I found Mason in the

  • My contract husband was meant for me   Chapter Seventeen: I don't like sharing.

I took a break to go to the restroom to pee. I didn't know what to think. He must have seen I wanted it and decided to have Clara buy it for me. My face broke into a smile as I washed my hands in the sink. I pushed the restroom door open and my hand was caught in a tight grip. I turned to look at the person. "Ryan!" "What are you doing? Let me go.” He didn't, instead he pushed me to the wall beside the restroom door. "So you dumped me to marry him? I didn't know you were such a golddigger. You were just waiting for a bigger fish!" He spat at me. "You don't understand Ryan, I had no choice". "Choice? Lies! You forgot that you chose to break up with me and break my heart? Now, you are here pretending that you are the victim. “Is that why you held back from me? Were to fucking him while we were together?" I froze at his words, shocked that he would think of me that way." "Ryan! Let go of me.” I said, trying to make my voice firm. "No. You have to break things off with him. H
