Sophia’s POV

That morning, I was busy with schedules, signing, and other trivia from the council, but my thoughts kept wandering to Lila. They wouldn't let me see my sister after she got poisoned. A healer said she needed rest. And at the same time, the council immediately started to bombard me with work.

Coincidence?

I think not.

Someone was behind this.

Victoria.

Mom had always played a caring act, but it was just control. "For her safety," she'd say. I've been around enough to know how this goes. When someone needs to be silenced, Mom pretends to protect them so she gets painted as a hero at the end.

At noon, the need to see Lila myself was growing urgent.

I strode past the scrutiny of the meeting room and headed towards the east wing. I heard voices nearby the main stairs – quiet, careful, and all too familiar.

So I slowed down and peeked around a pillar.

Forever poised, Victoria gave a calm and clear directive to one of her head maids: "Move her tonight. South wing has lesser ser

  • My sister’s mate became my forbidden love.   One kiss is all it takes

Lila's POVSleep became a foreign concept to me.I could squeeze my eyes shut all I wanted, but the silence was just too loud. My mind wouldn't shut off.Without any other options, I slipped away again. I stepped outside my room. The night breeze was pleasantly cool as I walked through the corridor. I had the garden doors just before the guards at the end could see me.Outside, I could finally draw a breath again. It was a full moon night, the moon shone brightly and the night was quiet, it felt chill and almost unreal for a second as I entertained the wild thought that maybe, just maybe, there was a chance that all was back to normal.“Yeah right.” I mocked myself. I made my way toward the rose garden, brushing my hand on the flowers as I walked by. They smelled wonderful, like those old nights when I thought love could be easy. Unfortunately for me, love has always been a real pain.I dropped onto one of the stone benches by the fountain, hands folded. The water sparkled under t

  • My sister’s mate became my forbidden love.   Cracks in the bond

Sophia's POVA knock at the door. "Come in."With a few scrolls in his hands, Adrian entered, looking exactly the same as he did always: calm, in control, with a presence. But I could see things were tired in his eyes."You’re up early," he murmured, closing the door."Couldn’t sleep," I replied. He nodded just enough to indicate that the scrolls had been placed on the table. "Council meeting in an hour. More talk about the borders again." "The pack again," I said slightly aloof. He hesitated for a second and opted against an answer. Instead, he walked away to look through the window. "It's what makes this whole thing work, Sophia. If the borders go, the pack goes."Now, I moved closer, laying my hand upon his arm. "What if you go?"He shot me this quick glance, then his mouth tightened. "I won't."There was a calmness about him, one that would have nothing be right to break."Wish you could rest," I said softly. "You've been under so much pressure these past days."Turning around, h

  • My sister’s mate became my forbidden love.   The talk

The talk Victoria’s POVI was wearing a shawl over my shoulder as I walked through an archway to the main garden. I hadn't talked with Lila or Sophia in ages.“And whats a better way to have fun than to talk to a liar… a liar who thinks I’m dumb?”I spotted Sophia, with her hands folded neatly over a small teacup; opposite her sat Lila, simply dressed in pale blue, her face thinner than before. She looked to be smiling faintly at something Sophia had said, but through a distance, I could tell it was forced; even further away, I know she must be feeling guilty about it.Good. Guilt suits her.I got close enough that Sophia, having spotted me first, gasped just slightly before rising to her feet. "Mother," she greeted carefully, though politely as she bowed her head.Lila followed suit, slightly bowing her head. "Luna Victoria.""Sit, both of you," I said with warmth. "Please, today really is not a day where formality is required."Sophia exchanged another quick and nervous glance wit

  • My sister’s mate became my forbidden love.   The first betrayal

Victoria’s POV"Luna," said a maid softly. "I think you'll want to see it."She extended a small folder. I took the folder and gestured for her to leave. "Close the door."As the sound of the door closing echoed in the room, I walked carefully to the window. I opened the folder carefully and began to read.It did not take a long while for me to understand what the paper held and its importance .It was a short file -just a few pages-but sufficient to ruin everything.Alpha Compatibility Test-Result: It showed a Positive for Alpha Lineage Traits.Twice, I read it. Thin smile curled my lips. Indeed.Lila's child carried Alpha blood. She lied it was Ethan’s child but this paper here proves that the child is not Ethan’s as Ethan was not an alpha hence he does not possess alpha blood or traits. That meant only one thing.Adrian.My son.Slowly putting the paper away, I watched as my fingers tremble, not from rage but from excitement. For a while, I stood there, my eyes gazing at the wa

  • My sister’s mate became my forbidden love.   The breaking point

Lila's POV I found Sophia in a small lounge near the library, sitting with a teacup by the window. She smiled at me. The tiredness was quite evident in her eyes."Lila," she said softly, "You ought to be in bed.""I had to talk to you," I said, shutting the door behind me.The frown appeared on her face instantly as she put down the cup. "What is it? Are you okay?" She asked, a note of concern creeping into her voice. I took time before answering, "Ethan. And Marissa."Her brow furrowed. "What about them?""They're being...nice," I said, more as an afterthought than anything else. She blinked in confusion. "Nice?"I continued, "Too nice. Ethan hasn't said a word to me for weeks, and now this sudden politeness. Marissa keeps watching me and she openly disliked me, which I was fine with- now she is all smiles and kindness. It doesn't fit."Sophia was quiet for a while, her expression thoughtful. "Do you think they are up to something?" "I-I don't know," I rubbed my hands together. "

  • My sister’s mate became my forbidden love.   The hidden report

Marissa’s Pov It was very late at night, the place was deserted. Only a few lanterns were switched on, casting weak light into the hallways. Every step I took seemed abnormally loud, and I kept stopping to listen before going on. I was thankful really, because the guards hardly ever walked this way, perfect for my little assignment. Solid, hard proof has been in my search for a while now-something that would wipe out Lila once and for all. I was tired of people buy-ing into her innocent act: the soft voice, and sweet face. Ethan's silence was driving me mad, Adrian's protectiveness was making my blood boil. To my mind, she was lying about the baby-I could feel it in my gut. If nobody else could crack her lies inside the palace, then it was about time I took matters into my own hands. “ I do not know why she lies the child is Ethan’s. I have slept with him, but since before he even rejected her I confirmed from the doctor that Ethan was not capable of fathering a child. I didn’t
