Celeste's POV

THREE DAYS LATER

I was slowly forgetting what it felt like to get out of my room. It'd been three days and I'd done everything possible to dodge Cassian.

Lucian always came to see me whenever he was free, and so did Freya. I'd been lucky enough to dodge family breakfasts and dinners, but today wasn't going to be one of those days.

Theo and my mum were back from the hospital, and it was compulsory for every member of the royal family to be down for breakfast.

I was meant to join them ten minutes ago, but after two different maids informed me that my presence was needed downstairs, I concluded that I couldn't dodge it.

I finally put on a dress and make my journey downstairs.

"Finally!", My mum said with a hint of relief. "I was about to drag you out of that room myself."

"Good morning dad. Good morning mum. Good morning everyone else", I sighed as I took a seat beside Lucian.

"We came back home last night, and you couldn't even come check up on me. Is that fair?"

  • My step-brothers; My mate   Resumed

Celeste's POVI was beginning to hate mornings.I hated it for a lot of reasons, one of them being that it was another opportunity for me to be reminded that I was in a fucked up family who cared about me just as much as they cared about the oxygen they took in.But today, it was different.I forced myself awake to realize that Lucian was not with me anymore. He cleared his whole schedule just to let me get rocked to sleep all day. It has honestly been a while since I got pampered like that, and I didn't want it to end. I didn't even care if someone walked in on us. I just wanted to be in his skin forever. He was the only one who understood me, and I wished we were the only one together in the palace. Now I had to deal with people who didn't give a fuck about my feelings.I sat up and frowned at the stupid sunlight for a full minute, wishing it could just disappear. Losing Lucian temporarily was not exactly the only reason I was hating on the morning sun.I'd missed a lot from colle

  • My step-brothers; My mate   Almost lost you

Celeste's POV Twenty three hours. That's how I time I could tell I'd spent in this dark version of hell. I had nothing to do except count time, regret and get starved. So I knew it was about an hour or so I had left till I was dragged from here from execution.I couldn't understand the point of being born into this heartless world if this was how I was going to end. Dying for a crime I didn't commit. Dying in place of someone who deserved death more than I did. I stared down at my cold fingers, wondering if my mother knew about all this. I'm sure all hell would break loose if she did, even Cassian's hands were tied right now. It was impossible for him to do something about it.Maybe this was my destiny. Maybe dying miserably was the punishment the Moon Goddess cursed me with for being daring and careless enough to fall in love with my two stepbrothers.I sucked in one of my last few breaths as I began counting seconds until I would be escorted for my execution. As much as I wanted

  • My step-brothers; My mate   Ruined wedding

Cassian's POV The wedding procession came to a halt immediately, and every pair of eye in the hall turned towards the direction of the haunting allegation.I saw Celeste's friend Freya in a soaked, oversized maiden gown, pale and panting like a dog with her hand raised high in the air.How did she get here? And what gave her the balls to lay a claim as heavy as that?"Prince Cas... Prince Cassian... If you marry that woman, it will be the end of your life and the beginning of the downfall of Silvermist. She's... She's not who you think she is!!"The whole crowd began making murmurs, some of them looking back at me with surprise and dissatisfaction, waiting to see if I would kill this little redhead who just insulted my future wife."You stupid bitch!!", I heard Shantel scream in sudden rage. I turned to her, and it looked like she was suddenly possessed by a demon. "Did I not warn you? Did I not warn you not to come anywhere around royalty after the rubbish you did this morning? You

  • My step-brothers; My mate   I have evidence

Freya's POV.Two more minutes. That's how much more time I thought I had left to live before dying of suffocation.I'd been in a zipped suitcase for hours now, and I honestly didn't think I was going to make it out alive.I began to feel dizziness as my blood pressure began lowering drastically. Not only was I not still drenched in rain from earlier this morning, I was now drenched in sweat. My oxygen-deprived lung was slowly giving up on me, and I was living on sheer willpower at this point.I had more than enough time to regret my decisions on the ride, and I couldn't even think straight at this point.I was probably not going to survive this. Either I would die in this locked up abyss, or I would be exposed to my death after having the bag opened by a guard or a maid...But on the rare probability that I survived this and won against the odds that were stacked against me, I made a mental vow not just to save my best friend from the death that awaited her, but also to make sure that

  • My step-brothers; My mate   Exposing Shantel

Freya's POVFIVE HOURS AGOAs I sat drenched in the chilling darkness, I replayed the voice recording of the call for the seventeenth time, staring at the phone as my eyes perked in disbelief. This couldn't be...I couldn't believe this...I remember hearing bits of the conversation, but I didn't know the full details of the confrontation was this scary. She planned to kill Cassian alongside every single person in the royal family just for her to take over the pack and the whole wolf realm? How deep had her greed for power and tyranny eaten into her that she was more than ready to do anything just to get to the top, even if it meant ending the life of important people?I couldn't let this go. This was more than enough evidence to save Celeste from death. The logical part of me made it glaringly clear that there was no way I would be able to get even the first line of royal security. It would be for me to get past the gate, especially with Shantel on the hunt for me to make sure she

  • My step-brothers; My mate   A day to mourn

Cassian's POV.I was in the midst of controlled chaos, but I couldn't care whatever the hell was going on beside me.My eyes were lost on my reflection against the mirror and I couldn't understand what had become of me.I'd steered away from marriage because it knew that it was risky marrying someone that my heart and my wolf didn't choose. And here I was staring at myself, getting ready to be bonded to someone I knew I had no feelings for, even if I wanted to deceive myself.... I became conscious for a second, making sure that I didn't say that out loud...My father was still in the hospital, but this was a decree that he'd already put out - that I was going to get married to Shantel no matter what. I thought she would postpone the marriage due to her father's death so I could have some time to myself, but I was mistaken. To insist that you have your wedding before you bury your father is something I'd never heard of in my life, and it screamed nothing but desperation. It wasn't qui
