Veronica's POV

I watched in dismay as Seth rushed out of the TV station, leaving me to face the curious gazes of our coworkers. The whispers began to circulate, speculating about our relationship.

“Seth and Evelyn, are they…?”

“No, no, it's Evelyn he's still hung up on.”

I quickly intervened, attempting to salvage the situation. “Evelyn is our classmate, and we were just planning to have dinner together tonight. I'll go check on them.”

My words sounded hollow, even to my ears. Feeling awkward and exposed, I hurried out of the TV station, the spotlight of attention shifting uncomfortably onto me.

As I emerged into the cool night air, I spotted Seth standing alone, his figure tense and rigid. I approached him nervously, my heels clicking on the pavement.

By the time I arrived, Evelyn had already left with someone, I wonder who. A sleek, black Maybach disappeared into the distance, leaving Seth there.
