Chapter Forty-six
Dario Pavel woke to the bad news of his father’s demise. The rumor spreading around was that he had been poisoned in his sleep. Infuriated, Dario had Cube and tony brought to him for questioning since they were in charge of Lorenzo’s safety but the two men were dazzled. they could not remember seeing anything suspicious in Lorenzo’s room.
“Should I assume that you two killed my father?” Pavel asked.
“Please, believe us, young master. We had nothing to do with this.” Cube retorted pleadingly. He was telling the truth. The two men and Buxton had dedicated their lives to serving Lorenzo and vowed to leave his side only after their deaths but Pavel did not believe them. In the world of war, people believed that those closest to you had a higher chance of ending your life and Pavel assumed the men had intentions of killing his father fr a long time; they just waited for the right time and did it. Pavel was right about his assumptions but he was wrong about the killers.

Locked in a cage with dozens of weapons, Cube and Tony fought each other to the death. Pavel and the rest of his men sat down to watch the match. Buxton clenched his fists, feeling overwhelmed by what he was seeing. John disconnected the call and got out of bed and dressed up. Sharyn opened her eyes and saw him heading for the door with the car key in his hand. Sharyn sprang up and rushed to the door ahead of John and stood in between. “Are you going to stoop lower than you have already?” He asked her. “Say whatever you want but I will not move.” Sharyn said. “Is that so?” John looked angrier. “I didn’t know that people change so easily, Sharyn. You were so good that Lance always advised me to give you a chance but I am sure he is regretting now. I am regretting it too.” Sharyn flinched and reluctantly moved away from the door. John grabbed the knob and tried to open the door but Sharyn stopped him. “I am only doing this for your safety.” she said. “Did it ever occur to you that without Lance we wouldn’t be together?” John asked her. “I don’t want to lose you.” Sharyn said. Buxton moved closer to Pavel and placed his hand on the latter’s shoulder. Pavel looked at him and shoved his hand away. At this point, Pavel as wary of everyone around him. He could not even trust his own shoulder.in his head, he hoped that no one would revolt against him in this crucial moment as he was too weak to bear the attacks of the enemy. Buxton moved back, sensing Pavel’s discomfort. “I will get rid of all your loyal men and women and strike once you are alone.” Buxton told himself. “Forgive me, master. I know you are worried about the lady at the moment, but shouldn’t we search the brothel to see if we can find the murderer of your father?” Buxton asked him unexpectedly.
