Lost and Found

Julian’s POV

I sat down in the car, the cool leather of the seat offering no comfort as exhaustion hit me like a tidal wave. I didn’t want to be here. I didn’t want to deal with this. But here I was, stuck in this hellish cycle of meetings, phone calls, and endless pressure. Today had been a turning point, though — and not the good kind. I had lost a client, and I had no one to blame but myself.

Gripping the steering wheel, I let out a long, frustrated sigh, staring at my reflect

JULIAN’S POV“You said you were going to take her home, I trusted you with her safety.” Theodore, or whatever his name was, lamented. I had tried to check in with him as my last resort to see if he had any information to spare. But I was beginning to regret that decision seeing how much he was simply a good for nothing talker. “Maybe you should stop whining like a child and come help with the investigation. You might actually find something you are good at other than speaking words that make no impact whatsoever.” I tried so hard to not indulge him but he was a completely different person in the absence of Emilia. He was rash and stupid unlike the civil facade he had on around Emilia and that somehow, seems to piss me the fuck off. “Right? Like I was the one who led to her disappearance in the first place.” He turned around and picked his phone. “I am going to call the cops and report a missing person. I can’t deal with you right now.” “What a bright idea.” I scoffed and walked b

EMILIA'S POVI wasn't entirely sure what had woken me up from my deep, agonizing sleep. Maybe the annoying sound of water dripping somewhere around me. Or maybe it was the blinding light that was flashing straight into my eyes even in my sleep. I hissed and tried to move my face away from the light. But a sound of protest left my mouth as I attempted to move. My neck was stiff, something was holding me firmly in place that I couldn't even move a finger without feeling the pain. As I tried to make sense to why I was feeling the way I felt and also tried to move around, I drifted off again, completely taken away by a type of sleep I have no energy to fight. When I woke up again, I felt better, my bones weren't aching and I wasn't restricted by anything. As I tried to move around, I realized I was in bed. What I felt earlier must have been a dream. I didn’t remember falling asleep though, and I couldn't make sense of anything because the Last time I recalled, I was in the bathroom in

JULIAN’S POV“It’s really getting out of hand and I need to bring things back in order before she gets hurt,” I spoke into the phone as I settled into my car, turned on the ignition, and zoomed out of the compound.“Do you have any measures put in place, sir?”“Nothing much. I had some trackers try to hack into the media house system, and all they could acquire was an email. Where the email came from was impenetrable. The pictures that have also been sent to several familiar people, the account they were sent through is non-existent, and nothing leads us to anyone.” I poured out my frustration, barely dodging a moving truck as I swayed the car toward a sharp corner.Emilia would be waiting. It was long past three hours and I needed to be at her house right now so that she wouldn’t think I had abandoned her.“Whoever it was has really been ready for this.”“Same thing I assumed. They have planned this all along.”“What do you want me to do now, sir?”“Get your feet back in the country

EMILIA'S POVI spent the night in Julian's. I didn't sleep, I couldn't. There was just too much going on in my head for me to. But I at least have a few more hours to myself until the next day. As soon as the sun was out, I was up and out of the room, ready to leave. I don't want another episode with Cassandra. Knowing she wakes up late, I would rather just leave before she does. I met Julian in the living room, about to go for his morning run. He looked actually shocked to see me already awake. "You are awake?" He crossed the living room toward me. "Do you need anything? The chef isn't starting until seven but I could fix you something real quick if you want." "There won't be any need for that. I am going back home. I will probably order breakfast on my way. I am starving." I tried to make the atmosphere lighter, I really did. But the weight of what happened last night still sit heavy between us. He frowned. "No you are not. You need to rest and that house is not safe." "Julian

EMILIA'S POV"Cassandra." Julian's tone was filled with warning but Cassandra wasn't paying any attention to it. She was beyond blinded by fury. "I know what I am saying." She swirled around and pointed an accusing finger at me. "You think you are the only one who could make quiet moves? You are doing all of these just to get his attention and I have proof for that!" "Cassandra just stop this!" Julian yelled but that didn't stop her. Instead, she became even more aggressive. "Don't tell me to stop when I am trying to get you off whatever blindness you are inflicted with. This girl wants nothing but to come back in here and destroy what we have. You are failing to see the tucking truth that is staring directly at your face." Her voice was getting progressively louder as she spoke. "Cassandra please..." Between everything I just went through, I was exhausted. "Don't..." she was quick to cut me off. "Don't even try me this night. You can fool every other person but me. We both know

EMILIA'S POVMy heart was beating so loudly I could hear the sound in my ears. My brain could barely comprehend what was going on. Julian placed his hand on the door handle. He stared at the car with tensed shoulders and sharp eyes, as though he looked ready to confront whoever was behind us. What was he thinking? That idea was completely insane. "Julian.." I called for the umpteenth time, "Don't do that please."He didnt respond, instead, he became even more tense as he watched. For the first few seconds, nothing happened. Then out of nowhere, the car roared back to life and zoomed off. Just like that. "What?" My head snapped toward the windshield as I watched it disappear among other cars. Julian, probably shocked by the sudden turn of events, kept his hand still on the door handle."What just happened?" I repeated, not necessarily expecting an answer. My brain was just slow in catching up that I had to speak it out loud. "I think I know exactly what happened. Whoever was in th

Three Weeks LaterEmilia It had been over three weeks since I moved into the motel, and in a strange way, it felt like a small awakening. The Silence She Left BehindJulian’s POVI ended the call and slowly lowered the phone onto the desk. For a moment, I didn’t move. The room around me was silent, and too silent for a mansion this large.
