CHAPTER 6: What is your business with Olivia?

“Is it possible that you are confusing the location of the chip?” Nico dared to ask the fuming Nero.

Nero glowered at his second in command, who hardly ever questioned or doubted him, even once.

“I swear to God, I will put a bullet between your eyes if you ask that question again,Nico. What do you think I am? A child?” he barked furiously and ran a hand through his lustrous inky locks in frustration.

Nero was mad with rage. He had successfully secured his important chip only to lose it to a common whore. Damn it! He had let his guard down only once with his service girl, and this had happened.

This was all Marena's fault.

His teeth clenched, and a muscle ticked in his jaw as he thought of the pain he was going to inflict on her.

But the greater pain–he was saving for that escort girl. He felt so affronted that a mere whore had deceived him, and stolen from him.

As the car got closer to the cafe where he had initially met the girl, Nico still could not reconcile what was going on. The girl had not looked like a wild girl, but she had slept with Nero the first time they met.

She in no way looked like a thief—but the coveted chip was missing after she left. He had checked the CCTV cameras, and no other person had access to the penthouse aside her, and she was indeed seen wearing Nero's jacket which he said he had dropped the chip in.

As he looked at the face of his boss through the rearview mirror, he knew that a violent storm of terror and destruction was brewing. The dark shades that rested on his aristocratic nose shielded his striking ambers, but Nico knew that they were viciously trained on him.

“We’re here,” the driver announced.

Nico caught Nero's dark gaze in the mirror before they both stepped out of the car, and walked towards the small cafe.

He pushed in the door, and they both walked in, to the smell of coffee, pastries and desserts. There were customers in the cafe, and they whispered amongst themselves about the two men who just entered.

Nero paid no mind to the attention they were generating as his sharp eyes scanned around for the pale skin, and green eyes he remembered vividly.

“What can I get for you, sirs?”a young woman asked as she approached them, a writing pad and pen in hand.

“We're looking for one of your servers,” Nico replied to the girl who was throwing flirty glances and gestures at Nero who was behind him.

Bad timing girl.

It would keep your head on your shoulders if you stopped right now, Nico thought.

The girl frowned slightly. Confused on who he was talking about–but she was also annoyed that they did not notice her, but were searching for someone else.

“Which one of our servers, sir? What is the name of the person?”

Nico realised that he didn’t even get her name. He never saw the need for it.

“I don't know her name. But she attended to me yesterday, and also this morning.”

The girl had a more confused expression on her face. She had no idea which of the few servers in the cafe they were talking about. She had only started working at the cafe earlier today, because they were suddenly short staffed.

“I don't–”

“Average height, probably 5ft 3, dark long wavy hair, pale skin, and jade green eyes,”Nero interrupted her in a dark voice, sharp with impatience.

The girl felt a jolt of fear run through her at the danger that emanated from the adonis looking man that she had been trying to attract, and she shrunk into herself and recoiled visibly.

“I don't know. I just started working here today,” she answered in a low voice.

Nero almost snapped in anger. “And you were wasting our time all along?” He gritted in a low icy tone.

The girl was terrified. “You can ask my boss, the owner. I'll go get her,” she replied and immediately sped off.

Nico, who had calmly been watching the exchange, turned to Nero.

“Calm down, boss. We will recover the chip.”

“Oh I sure will,Nico. But I am going to teach that girl a lesson,” He promised darkly.

An older woman approached them with a guarded, and unfriendly expression.

“How may I help you?” she asked, eyeing them suspiciously. She was already wary of the talk imposing men that her staff had informed her were asking for someone.

She never had any customers that looked like them in her cafe before. But she could tell they meant trouble.

They looked like sinners too.

“We are looking for one of your staff that has something that belongs to me,” Nero replied to the unfriendly woman before him.

Her staff had already told her the description that they had given of who they were looking for, and she knew it was Olivia. Her daughter.

She had awoken this morning to find that Olivia's belongings were gone, but when she arrived at her cafe, she had been informed by someone who saw them, that she had run away with that useless boy, Connor.

She was so angry, and regretted ever deciding to have Olivia. Now these dangerous and sinful looking men were looking for her.

“Why are you looking for that child of sin?” she barked at the young men.

Nico was momentarily confused at the animosity, and bitterness in her tone, but kept a neutral face nonetheless.

Nero smirked darkly at the hostile woman. Apart from his ruthlessness, intelligence, talent and skill, sharp business skills and other impressive skills, he had an uncanny ability to read people—most people though, like the woman before him.

“You know who I am talking about,” He observed as he approached the woman who stood her ground—her eyes flashing with acrimony and judgement.

“I don't know what business you have with Olivia, but you have to take it elsewhere. Better yet follow her and her boyfriend to wherever they ran away to. This is my place of business. It's not for social calls”

Olivia. So that was her name,Nero thought. Wait a minute, did she say she ran away with her boyfriend?

“Listen lady, I'm going to advise you to start talking. This Olivia, is your daughter right? Where is she?”he asked darkly.

The older woman felt her back break out in cold sweat as a result of fear. The young man was very intimidating and reeked of danger.

Just how was that girl connected with him?

“What is your business with Olivia?” She challenged him.

The young boss chuckled darkly as he stopped a few feet away from the woman. He had already deduced that she was one of those zealot religious fanatics. He slightly bent his tall frame to peer into her harsh judgemental eyes.

“Well, let's just say that I just fucked her senseless earlier, and the proof of her chastity is still currently stained into my sheets right now,” he replied casually with a careless shrug, and a mad glint in his eyes.

The woman's face doubled in size, and grew red with incredulity and fury, even her eyes almost bulged out of their sockets. She was shocked by his crude words, his shamelessness and impudence.

“You sinner! How dare you!”she shrieked with hands balled tightly beside her.

Nico shook his head at Nero’s shamelessness, crudity, and unending depravity. He was intentionally riling up the woman by recounting his obscene and immoral encounter with her daughter.

It was drawing quite the attention, the entire cafe was quiet now, and all attention was on them.

“Sir, I have some information for you.”

Nico and Nero turned around to face a young girl who was dressed in the server's uniform.

“Speak,” Nero replied, and shoved his hands in his pockets.

“I know where you can find Olivia.”

CHAPTER 95: Finally Rea didn’t flinch. She turned, scalpel glinting in hand, a mocking smile curling her lips.“Well, look who finally showed up,” she said calmly. “Took you long enough, little brother.”Nero’s rage was too cold, too controlled. His gaze flicked to his pregnant wife, who was barely aware of her surroundings. The sight of her uncovered belly and the thought of what they were about to do to her filled him with raw, unfiltered fury. “You.” His voice was a quiet storm. “I should’ve suspected you earlier.” After the incident with Marena, he had begun to suspect Rea. He confided his suspicions to Nico, who had secretly investigated Rea, and discovered that she wasn't who she claimed to be.“Of course it was you all along.”“Oh, please.” her laugh was sharp. “Don’t act like you’re so surprised. You always knew I’d be the one to end you. Deep down, you've always known that it would come to this.”She was right.Nero took a step forward, his gun unwavering. “Maybe you're ri

CHAPTER 94: It was the one that had known him the longestThe bright white lights of the operating room burned through Olivia’s eyes, causing her to squint. Her wrists were restrained against the metal table, her breaths came shallow and rapid. Her chest and her stomach rose and fell with each panicked breath she took, each second heavier than the last.“Please…” she whispered hoarsely, twisting against the leather straps. She turned to the man in blue scrubs who she suspected to be the doctor. “Don’t do this…”Her pleas fell on deaf ears. The man ignored her, and went on suiting up like he was about to enter the theatre for an operation. Her pleas dissolved into the hum of machines. No one was paying attention to her. Then the door creaked open. Olivia did not recognise the man that entered. He was tall, broad-shouldered, and his icy blue eyes glinted under the fluorescent light. She could feel the danger that rolled off him in waves, even before he spoke. But she had no choice bu

CHAPTER 93: The Ghost that livedThe silence in the room was unbearable.Olivia's eyes were swollen from crying. She could not even tell how long she had been in that room. The fear that Luigi could come back any moment to harm her or her babies kept her muttering prayers under breath. She could not remember the last time she had prayed, but it was all she could do at that point. She was whispering to herself now, desperate prayers under her breath.“Please, Nero… find me. Find us. Please…”It was only the intrepid nature of her husband that she could hope on. Then, the door opened with a faint click. Her stomach dropped when the door swung open and Luigi stepped inside, wearing the same self-satisfied smile. But this time, it wasn’t smooth or charming. This time it was feral. His eyes burned with something that made Olivia’s blood run cold. She knew that this was not going to end well.“Waiting for me?” he asked, his tone almost playful. She scrambled backward onto the bed, clutchin

CHAPTER 92: The room with no windowsWhen Olivia opened her eyes, the world swam in and out of focus. The first thing she felt was the weight. She was still under the effect of whatever she had been knocked out with. The sluggishness and heaviness, pressed down on her as though her limbs were wrapped in fog. Her head throbbed painfully. The faint scent of something, chemical, and strong still lingered in her nostrils. Cradling her head in her hands, she groaned softly, pushing herself up on trembling elbows. The cool white sheet clung to her skin, too white, too foreign. It didn't feel like their silk sheets. It wasn’t their bed. It was then that Olivia noticed her environment, the strangeness and unfamiliarity of it.The walls gleamed white and gold, polished marble with a chandelier that glittered like broken ice above her. It was a luxurious room, elegant, rich, but sterile. There was no open air, no sound of the outside world. It was totally sealed and shut off from the world, li

CHAPTER 91: The moment the devil brokeThe moment Nero saw the masked man press a cloth over Olivia’s mouth, the world snapped out of motion. He didn’t hear her muffled cry or the frantic shrieks of guests scattering around them; he only saw her eyes. wide, terrified, locking on his for one split second before they rolled back. He saw her hands, flailing helplessly in the air like she was trying to reach for him. He saw how her body had sagged in that man’s arms as she passed out. Every detail seared into his mind. He had been watching everything, frozen, like he was in a trance. But as soon as the man began to carry his wife out of the hall, it was as if Nero was suddenly spurred back to life and into action. The man carried her toward the upper corridor, and Nero pushed through the pandemonium to follow after them.“OLIVIA!” his voice tore through the ballroom, loud and thunderous. His voice became a single command that made even the chaos pause for an instant. The masked man pause

CHAPTER 90: Connor’s eyesThe waltz still played, soft and elegant beneath the golden chandeliers, but to Olivia it sounded distant, almost muted, like the echo of another world she no longer belonged to. Every noise and voice faded to the background, all her attention, fixed on the masked man.Her pulse drummed wildly in her throat as she stared at the man standing a few feet away. The mask he wore obscured his face, but not his eyes. Those eyes rooted her to the spot. She knew them. She knew them. They looked a lot like Connor’s. She could never forget those eyes. Her hands trembled where they rested on lap. “Who… who are you?” she asked quietly, forcing her voice past the tightness in her chest. The man didn’t reply. He simply tilted his head a fraction, as if he was studying her. This made Olivia more uneasy. She shrank back in her chair. “Is this some kind of joke?” she whispered, taking a shaky intake of breath. “Did Nero send you? If he sent you, this isn’t funny.” It might b
