Camila's pov

That was the best day of my life, the doctor's appointment. I was pregnant, my whole life was about to change for the better. I didn't fight with anyone, in fact, I bought myself a new skull candy and I cleaned all the Ickiness of the famous club away.

Occasionally I would puke and my skin got a little pale as the days went by but I was happy irrespective. And no one knew but I think June was starting to have suspicions. I kept my distance from the ugly witches but it baffled me that I didn't know my soon-to-be husband's name yet.

How shameless of me.

When it was my break, I skipped to the counter, the receptionist knew me well and he had a soft spot for me.

"You look so happy today, did someone give you a tip?" He smiled as he played with the thing I wanted the most.

The register.

"Kevin, I can see that I won't be here anymore. But I'm going to miss you." I pouted and he looked up at me, his green eyes held mischief and he wanted to know what I was up to. I faked a sad expression too.

"Are you traveling?" He smiled a little as I had gotten his attention.

"No." I pouted again.

"So where are you going?" He took my fingers and intertwined them in his, "did you find a new job?" Concern laced his tone. I heaved a heavy sigh afterwards.

"Yes, I did." Kevin was a big brother to me, "but I promise I'll always visit you, we can still hang out."

"Is the pay better Camila? I know it's been rough for you but you can't afford to go from frying pan to fire." He was always advising me and my frozen heart was getting a bit of warmth, "What's the job?"

"A billionaire." I giggled hysterically and he forced a smile.

"I'm serious Camila."

"I'm serious too Kevin, I'm going to be a billionaire, just you watch me." I snapped my fingers, I was carrying a baby, "but I need your help!" I gave my cutest expression and he knew I was going to get him into trouble.

"No Cam, I'm not doing it. The last time you did this, I almost died." He wasn't lying.

"But it was fun." I tried to make the situation not look so bad and he shot me a death glare. My puppy eyes got cuter and after a few seconds, he growled in defeat.

"What do you want me to do?" He opened the register to check something.

"I need someone's information." My expression turned serious in an instant and he knew I wasn't joking.

"That's against the company's policy, I'll be sued for it." He didn't break a sweat, "what do you need it for?"

"I need to track someone, it's important." My tone was soft and it was getting harder to resist.

"You're going to be the end of me. What does he look like? Is he a regular?" He was flipping the pages for me, that's why I loved him so much.

"He comes here four times a week, Amber is always hitching to him, he's her regular," I explained.

"I know who you're talking about, blue eyes, cold demeanour, he's a big person, what do you need him for?" He searched for the name and got it, "Konrad Russell. I'll text you his details, act normal. Are you booking for anyone else?" He wrote some things down and changed the topic, that was the signal.

"No that's all, thanks Kevin, I'll tell my friend she has a spot. Make sure to confirm the transfer before letting her in." And I danced my way out of the hallway.

Konrad Russell, I still remembered when he looked at me like he could devour me in that instant. I felt heat wash up on me and I squeezed my legs together.

"Camila Russell, wife of billionaire Konrad Russell." I gave myself the title before giggling like a high school teenager who just got her crush to like her. I was excited. And I had a lot of people to pay back.

I put back my headphones and went to work, Kevin sent me the details. Full name, phone number and even address, I got to the Internet fast and Konrad was worth over a billion. I was tripping myself.

I rubbed my tummy absentmindedly, he was the key to my freedom.

It was the final hours of work and I was mopping the floors till I heard the sound of liquid splattering on tiles. Someone was pouring their drink on a place I had just cleaned and when I looked up, my eye literally twitched.

"Oops. You missed a spot." Amber went ahead and dropped the cup, the glass splattering the instant it kissed the floor, "guess you have to clean up again, so sad you can't even do your job properly."

"Was it not enough you broke your ankle the last time we encountered or do you want me to break your face?"

"Ohh I'm so scared." She mocked me, "Make one wrong move and you'll lose your pitiful job." It turned into a sneer and I went back to cleaning, "Yeah that's it, do your job." She laughed at me before limping away. I wanted to tear that bitch into two but I knew I would get the opportunity later.

Work had finally closed and I had washed myself properly, now it was time to run to my tiny apartment. I was the last one to leave since I had to make sure my part was clean. Well apart from the security personnel.

I waved to them goodnight and they waved back and just as I was about to cross the road, I noticed a car honking at me. I was confused and it didn't help when the idiot of a driver turned on his headlights, blinding me in the process.

When the lights died down and he exited his car, I let out a long hiss.

"Camila we need to talk." Matt was standing in front of me, my arms folded, to resist the urge to slug him across the face, "it was a mistake I swear!"

"I don't care! Just leave me alone!" I pushed him aside before he yanked me by my arm.

"The fuck is your problem! I came here to beg you and you're treating me like an old rag!" He yelled back and it took me by surprise, "When was the last time you let me touch you? When Camila? And now you're upset I went elsewhere to get my needs? You're selfish!"

He had shown his true colours, and I was no longer blind. Sometimes I wondered how I put up with a man like Matt, he was a cheap man thinking he was better than everyone else. Disgusting.

"Matt, just leave me alone." I said calmly, I got into juvie once because of someone like him, I ain't going to jail for murder.

"And why Camila?! Why do you want me out of your life?!" His tempo got higher and I raised mine to match.

  • NEXT BILLIONAIRE IN NINE MONTHS     A Promise in Shadows

Konrad and Camilla stared at each other and around her there was tension that words did not express. The light which was coming from the lamp was too low. They cast long shadows on the wall as if the danger was reflecting on them. Camilla’s heart pounded, and her breath quickened as Konrad approached her cautiously; his actions slow but for the grimace on his face.“You need to go,” he whispered and the tone of his voice was unemotional, calm.Camilla blinked and all the confusion was drowning her face. “What?”Konrad’s jaw tightened. “Go to my father. Stay with Lev. His security will protect you,” he continued while pointing at the painting.“No,” she breathed out softly, raising her head slightly upward. “I am not leaving you here alone,”Her words are still here in the room like a beam of despair. She did not understand why she wanted this—why her heart was painful and why she shivered every time thinking that he would be injured once more. It did not align with her schedule, her m

  • NEXT BILLIONAIRE IN NINE MONTHS    Shadows in the Hall

Camilla opened her eyes to see the outline of her room reflected in a very low light. For a moment she did not know her location and her ideas were vague and confused. This is because the bed’s soft pressure felt strange underneath her; the surrounding air was too quiet, and heavy. Then a hundred memories flooded in on her.The assassin. Konrad. She could feel a pounding in her chest as if her heart was trying to escape, the room was spinning as she rushed to sit up. A brisk pain pulsated, deep below her head and reaching for her neck, so she gasped, touching the zone. The crash of thoughts whirled in her head, forming thoughts of the shadow in the hall, the blow that was dealt and the blackness that followed it.Konrad.Where was he?A jolt of panic rose up through her breastbone as she thought through the options. Has the assassin killed his target yet? Was Konrad lying lifeless in his room while she had been left to wake here, not even realizing how useless she was? No.She was una

The celebration was starting to die down. The lights were still twinkling in enormous crystal chandeliers adorning the room, theμmuisc continued to fill the air and most of the guests still stood around their wine glasses, but the mood was different. People became more reserved and there were few smiles left; Lex, the ever perfect host, was bowing down to the last congratulations.Camilla and Konrad were finally engaged.Camilla sighed deeply when she stopped next to the base of the grand stairs; the cold stone of the banister under her thick glove echoed the coolness of the night’s confusion. The weight of Alois’s stares were like a feeling of itch which she could not scratch as she wanted. For the last one hour she had stayed clear of him, or rather it had not been easy at all.By her side, Konrad sat morose and morose, a man at odds with a partying crowd that was even now streaming through the doors. He had not uttered a sound since his father loudly boomed out the happy news, thou

  • NEXT BILLIONAIRE IN NINE MONTHS    Someone's love

Camilla twirled the flared fabric of the gown she wore and glanced at the dressing table as the sounds of voices talking faintly reached out from behind the walls. The weather was hot and uncomfortable at that time of the evening and she couldn’t disassociate the uncomfortable feeling to whether it was caused by the room or the tension. At the other end of the room, Konrad sank against the casement, his back rigid, his fixed stare travelling through window glass to the horticultural plots far below. She looked at him for a while – the way his jaw clenched and the look of distant focus in his eyes. He had known that he had been grumpy about the engagement—it was his father’s engagement to be precise—But Konrad had never been one to express how he felt in articulate terms. The only time he did was when he saw her naked.“Don’t tell me you’re intending on moping through the entire evening, we're getting engaged.” Camilla remarked in a tone that was bright, but her eyes giving her a pseud

Konrad sat perched on the edge of the wooden bench in the garden. He couldn’t focus. Again and again, His mind went back to the moment; he could not think straight. That he had seen Camilla—his girlfriend—naked was not enough; what was terrible was the feelings that followed it. The shock, the guilt, and something further that was more ominous that he couldn’t place a name to.Camilla wasn’t just anyone. She was the woman he was in love with, or so he thought, the woman he respected, the woman he was open with. However, the man was provoked into saying something he did not know he was capable of confessing in this period of utter anguish and helplessness. He hadn’t intended on walking into the room like that. The door had been half opened and he believed she was not there. However, as soon as he entered, everything stopped and so did he. So there she was, standing by the bed, changing. The surprised look in the widened pupils of her eyes was as much a replica of his as she frantically

I had never seen her like that before. The words kept repeating themselves in my mind as I paced back and forth in my living room. She had been furious, a whirlwind of emotion, and everything I had done seemed to push her further into that storm. But that wasn't the worst of it. No, the worst was how my mind kept drifting back to the one thing I could never unsee.Her.Naked.I winced as the image flashed in my head again, followed by the memory of her anger. I could almost still hear her yelling, her voice fierce as she hurled things at me—vases, books, whatever she could get her hands on. It didn't make sense. What had started as a quiet conversation had spiraled out of control so fast that I couldn't keep up. I had no idea why she was so upset with me, but it didn't help that I couldn't tear my eyes away from the way her body moved. I was trying to focus on her words, to apologize, to do whatever it would take to make things right. But her beauty... her nakedness... It was overwhe
