Camila's Pov

"Am I doing the right thing?" I questioned my morals and values but what else could I have done...this was my only opportunity and I couldn't afford to screw it up. Heck, I'll ask God for forgiveness but even he knows that I've tried and I've suffered a lot.

And the way he was looking at me like he could have left Amber and taken me to the room to be slaughtered.

My legs wobbled a little as I pushed my cleaning equipment. He was the first one to make me feel a deep sense of attraction, which was strange. I hardly got attracted to Matt, now it was a complete stranger.

And he felt different, he didn't insult or bark at me like the other rich people did. I moved to the next room and knocked on the door, I could hear laughing and ululations. The room was clearly occupied and I was leaving till someone pulled the door open.

He scanned me before a dirty smirk appeared on his lips, "hey beautiful." I blinked in disgust but kept my face neutral.

"I'm sorry, I will go and clean another room," I told him politely and I pushed my equipment, I could feel his eyes pierce me from behind and then I heard the door slam. My heart relaxed and I went to clean the other rooms.

Time had passed and I was just coming out of the bathroom, I had washed my hands and disposed of the condom properly. I fixed my hair a little, I still had an hour before my shift ended and I would be back home.

I went ahead to clean the tables and help the waitress take the drinks away and as I wiped, I felt a hand brush against my thighs.

"Hey beautiful."

I jumped like a cat avoiding water, my heart racing so fast it seemed I would have had a heart attack.

"Did I scare you?" He inched closer to me, his mouth reeked of alcohol but his body emitted the scent of expensive perfume. I took a step back and I realized it was the man that I accidentally disturbed while he was in his room.

"Yes you did, I'm cleaning the tables, please do not get me in trouble." I kept my eyes down and went back to work, he was still staring at me and then he reached his hand into my skirt to caress me, "Are you mad?!" I snapped instantly and he was amused.

"She's feisty." He literally purred and my nose twitched in visible disgust, "how much for a night?" He flashed his card.

"Keep dreaming, even if I'm begging on the streets I'll never sleep with a disgusting creature like you!" I spat with all the disdain in my heart, the memories of my trauma coming to the surface.

"I'll buy you whatever you want, just for tonight." He was about to grab me again before my fingers ran across his cheek, the force of the hit sending him to the floor. It was so powerful it froze everyone and almost everything.

That was my best slap yet. It beat the one I gave Matt when I first met him.

But with a slap like that, it attracted the attention of the strippers.

"Are you crazy?!" Amber was the first one to react, she lifted the man up, and he was still dazed and I was still palpitating, "What the hell is your problem? He's just trying to make your miserable life better!"

"That was very uncalled for Camila." June, the calmer one, sort of like a mother figure to the rest of the girls. But she was supporting this man.

Tears welled up in my eyes and soon my boss came, he saw the slightly unconscious man that the girls were supporting and he saw me who was a mess. He knew in an instant.

"Camila, my office, now." That was all he had to say and I could already feel myself crying.

I waited in his office for what felt like an eternity, my eyes fixated on an oil painting of a landscape and I wished I could enter the picture to escape the nagging I was about to receive. I wasn't wrong but I was under a contract to make sure the customers are always happy.

And anything was accepted.

The door creaked open and he walked past me, the aura he possessed made me nervous. My eyes were on the floor and my hands were behind my back. I could sense that he sat behind his big desk from the sound of his movements.

"Take." He held out something and when I shifted my gaze, it was a piece of paper and a pen, I moved closer, why? My finger stretched to collect it, "Write your resignation letter there."

"But Boss!" I literally screamed and he squeezed his eyes at the pitch of my voice.

"Camila I'm tired! I'm tired of you! Two customers in one night?!" He indicated the number with his fingers. My heart was beating wildly as I looked at the paper, and soon I began to cry.

He sighed and rolled his eyes at me and I was sobbing for what felt like an eternity but was only three minutes.

"This is your last shot, your salary I split in half, I don't want a repetition." He warned me but my heart shattered more.

A deduction?! By half?!

I wanted to speak up but I second-guessed myself, he could tell me to leave if he got more upset so I carried my famished body and my broken soul and walked out of his office.

I sniffed and wiped the tears from my eyes. This job was the reason I kept getting sick but I couldn't leave it because it was so hard to get this one and it paid better than the other ones around.

"Look, here comes little Miss Righteous." I could hear the club girls snickering but my body kept wavering in an unsteady manner, like I would fall.

"Are you okay Camila?" June's motherly touch was able to keep me standing but I didn't want her to be close to me. She was kind but she didn't reprimand the others, so she was just like them.

I respectfully took her hands off my shoulders, it was closing time, and I was going home. I packed my things, washed my face again and exited the club. It was extremely late and I moved as fast as my legs could take me.

This was no way for us humans to live, targeted at work, targeted on the streets. Thunder ripped through the air and soon little droplets kissed my skin. It was raining.

Everyone was rushing to find shelter while those that had umbrellas remained calm. I remained calm as I walked in the rain, it hid my tears and gave me time to reflect on things that have happened.

I didn't want this life anymore.

I stopped at an intersection, and instead of a left turn, I took a right. I went to a nearby bakery and bought some chocolate bread, it was Matt's favorite. I wanted to surprise him, so I was heading to his apartment.

I was five minutes away as I held my bag close to my chest. I wasn't able to make myself happy today but I can make someone else happy. Soon I was at his door and just as I was about to knock I heard something break.

"Matt?!" I thought he was in trouble but I calmed down to listen, I heard moans and grunts, the moans turned into screams really quickly and some woman was telling some man to keep fucking her, "Matt…"

I didn't want to believe it, he could have been watching p**n at 100% volume so I grabbed the spare keys under the mat, and gently, slowly opened the door, so barely a sound would be heard.

I opened it with vigour and Matt was not watching a sex movie, he was making one, with a random chick I had never seen before. But he didn't stop until he came inside her, that was when he realized I was standing at the door.

"Jesus! Camila!!" He looked around, his sin had finally caught up to him. I sniffed back hot tears and looked at the lady bent over for him. She was embarrassed too but I was numb, "Camila please!" He moved closer to me and I took a huge step back.

"Babe I'm so sorry, you know what's going on between us, I just needed to. I'm so sorry Camila, it won't ever happen again." The only thing between us now was the cute centre table I got him for his last birthday. An expensive gift and I worked hours to get that money.

I reached for my bag and brought out the chocolate cake, and I dropped it there. I also removed the promise necklace I wore for him and dropped it beside the bread. I was bleeding tears at that point again.

"Camila…" he didn't move from his spot, I knew he didn't want me.

"Goodbye Matt." And I slammed the door behind me.

  • NEXT BILLIONAIRE IN NINE MONTHS     A Promise in Shadows

Konrad and Camilla stared at each other and around her there was tension that words did not express. The light which was coming from the lamp was too low. They cast long shadows on the wall as if the danger was reflecting on them. Camilla’s heart pounded, and her breath quickened as Konrad approached her cautiously; his actions slow but for the grimace on his face.“You need to go,” he whispered and the tone of his voice was unemotional, calm.Camilla blinked and all the confusion was drowning her face. “What?”Konrad’s jaw tightened. “Go to my father. Stay with Lev. His security will protect you,” he continued while pointing at the painting.“No,” she breathed out softly, raising her head slightly upward. “I am not leaving you here alone,”Her words are still here in the room like a beam of despair. She did not understand why she wanted this—why her heart was painful and why she shivered every time thinking that he would be injured once more. It did not align with her schedule, her m

  • NEXT BILLIONAIRE IN NINE MONTHS    Shadows in the Hall

Camilla opened her eyes to see the outline of her room reflected in a very low light. For a moment she did not know her location and her ideas were vague and confused. This is because the bed’s soft pressure felt strange underneath her; the surrounding air was too quiet, and heavy. Then a hundred memories flooded in on her.The assassin. Konrad. She could feel a pounding in her chest as if her heart was trying to escape, the room was spinning as she rushed to sit up. A brisk pain pulsated, deep below her head and reaching for her neck, so she gasped, touching the zone. The crash of thoughts whirled in her head, forming thoughts of the shadow in the hall, the blow that was dealt and the blackness that followed it.Konrad.Where was he?A jolt of panic rose up through her breastbone as she thought through the options. Has the assassin killed his target yet? Was Konrad lying lifeless in his room while she had been left to wake here, not even realizing how useless she was? No.She was una

The celebration was starting to die down. The lights were still twinkling in enormous crystal chandeliers adorning the room, theμmuisc continued to fill the air and most of the guests still stood around their wine glasses, but the mood was different. People became more reserved and there were few smiles left; Lex, the ever perfect host, was bowing down to the last congratulations.Camilla and Konrad were finally engaged.Camilla sighed deeply when she stopped next to the base of the grand stairs; the cold stone of the banister under her thick glove echoed the coolness of the night’s confusion. The weight of Alois’s stares were like a feeling of itch which she could not scratch as she wanted. For the last one hour she had stayed clear of him, or rather it had not been easy at all.By her side, Konrad sat morose and morose, a man at odds with a partying crowd that was even now streaming through the doors. He had not uttered a sound since his father loudly boomed out the happy news, thou

  • NEXT BILLIONAIRE IN NINE MONTHS    Someone's love

Camilla twirled the flared fabric of the gown she wore and glanced at the dressing table as the sounds of voices talking faintly reached out from behind the walls. The weather was hot and uncomfortable at that time of the evening and she couldn’t disassociate the uncomfortable feeling to whether it was caused by the room or the tension. At the other end of the room, Konrad sank against the casement, his back rigid, his fixed stare travelling through window glass to the horticultural plots far below. She looked at him for a while – the way his jaw clenched and the look of distant focus in his eyes. He had known that he had been grumpy about the engagement—it was his father’s engagement to be precise—But Konrad had never been one to express how he felt in articulate terms. The only time he did was when he saw her naked.“Don’t tell me you’re intending on moping through the entire evening, we're getting engaged.” Camilla remarked in a tone that was bright, but her eyes giving her a pseud

  • NEXT BILLIONAIRE IN NINE MONTHS    Fall in love

Konrad sat perched on the edge of the wooden bench in the garden. He couldn’t focus. Again and again, His mind went back to the moment; he could not think straight. That he had seen Camilla—his girlfriend—naked was not enough; what was terrible was the feelings that followed it. The shock, the guilt, and something further that was more ominous that he couldn’t place a name to.Camilla wasn’t just anyone. She was the woman he was in love with, or so he thought, the woman he respected, the woman he was open with. However, the man was provoked into saying something he did not know he was capable of confessing in this period of utter anguish and helplessness. He hadn’t intended on walking into the room like that. The door had been half opened and he believed she was not there. However, as soon as he entered, everything stopped and so did he. So there she was, standing by the bed, changing. The surprised look in the widened pupils of her eyes was as much a replica of his as she frantically

  • NEXT BILLIONAIRE IN NINE MONTHS    Alois

I had never seen her like that before. The words kept repeating themselves in my mind as I paced back and forth in my living room. She had been furious, a whirlwind of emotion, and everything I had done seemed to push her further into that storm. But that wasn't the worst of it. No, the worst was how my mind kept drifting back to the one thing I could never unsee.Her.Naked.I winced as the image flashed in my head again, followed by the memory of her anger. I could almost still hear her yelling, her voice fierce as she hurled things at me—vases, books, whatever she could get her hands on. It didn't make sense. What had started as a quiet conversation had spiraled out of control so fast that I couldn't keep up. I had no idea why she was so upset with me, but it didn't help that I couldn't tear my eyes away from the way her body moved. I was trying to focus on her words, to apologize, to do whatever it would take to make things right. But her beauty... her nakedness... It was overwhe
