I sat up from the bed instantly, my heart pounding wildly.

The middle-aged woman’s face flickered between surprise and concern at my sudden movement.

“Careful, dear,” she rushed toward me, placing a steadying hand on my shoulder.

“I’m fine,” I replied quickly. “Was the woman wearing a red silk rose gown?” I asked, my voice trembling with curiosity. I prayed what I was thinking wasn’t true.

The woman looked puzzled and shook her head.

“No, she wasn’t. She wore a blue ball gown, and her hair was pure white,” the healer answered gently.

I sighed in relief, sinking back into the bed.

"I don’t even own a blue gown… or have white hair. So how could someone with that appearance look like me?" I thought, eyes fixed on the chandelier above.

“Dear… you do realize you’re two weeks pregnant, right?”

Her voice cut through my thoughts, and I jolted slightly, my brows pulling together.

Two weeks? But the pack healer said I was only one week pregnant.

“Thank you for telling me,” I said slowly. Then something struck me.

“Damien! Does he have a mate? Is he wicked? Do you know anything about his brother?”

The healer’s face tensed in fear. She shook her head quickly.

“No... no, I don’t,” she stammered.

She looked genuinely scared.

I reached for her hand, squeezing gently. “Please. I just want to know.”

She sighed and sat beside me on the bed, lowering her voice.

“No, Lycan Damien doesn’t have a mate. I’ve been working for him since he was a pup. But about his twin brother… that’s a complicated story.” She paused, then turned to face me.

“I’m sorry, dear. I can’t say any more.” Her voice dropped, weighted with worry.

What’s going on?

Why are the twins separated? Why is no one saying anything?

Lucas never once mentioned having a brother. Not even a slip.

“It’s fine,” I whispered. “But I hope someday, I’ll find out.”

The door creaked open, and a set of maids entered, wheeling in a tray of food.

My mouth watered instantly as the scent filled the room.

One of them brought the tray to me, and without hesitation, I grabbed a blooded steak and took a large bite. The flavor melted on my tongue.

“Seems like you were hungry,” the healer said kindly, and the younger maid let out a soft chuckle.

I tried to chuckle along with them, but I couldn’t.

My heart was bitter. In pain.

I didn’t want to treat them coldly, but I couldn’t help it.

My appetite vanished.

I placed the meat back down, pushing the tray slightly away.

I couldn’t eat. Not when my thoughts kept returning to the betrayal.

Lucas must think I’m dead.

Well… too bad for him.

The healer seemed to notice the shift in my mood. She touched my shoulder again.

“Dear, are you okay? You seem… lost.”

“I...” I began, but stopped. My throat tightened, my vision blurred.

I wanted to scream. To fight. To cry.

I swallowed hard, forcing down the tears clawing at my throat, and took a shaky breath.

“I’m fine,” I whispered, my voice choked and barely audible.

“Dear… I know something’s wrong. But please remember, me and my student, Elizabeth, we’re here to help. Or just listen, whenever you need to talk,” she said gently.

Elizabeth, who had been standing quietly in the corner all this time, gave me a soft smile and nodded.

They were kind.

But I didn’t trust anyone anymore.

I had trusted my pack. I loved them like family.

And still… I heard their whispers.

I heard them supporting Lucas, cheering for my death, even knowing I was carrying a child.

Unknowingly, I began to crush the glass in my hand.

It wasn’t until I heard the faint cracking sound that I looked down, shocked.

I yelped and quickly dropped the cup onto the tray.

I glanced at the two women, both horrified by what they saw.

Without a word, I turned my back to them.

“Are you okay?” the healer asked again, her tone gentle.

I lay down quietly, pulling the covers up to my chest.

“What’s your name?”

I turned to her. “Ma… Elena,” I said sharply.

I would no longer bear the name Maddena. That name was tied to my past—tied to Lucas.

Now I am someone new. A new soul. A new beginning.

Once I fully recover, I will leave this pack.

I will find another place to belong, or maybe I’ll start over entirely.

But I want nothing to do with Lucas or his family ever again.

“That’s a beautiful name, Elena.”

“I’m Roberta, and as I said earlier, this is Elizabeth,” she smiled warmly, and I returned it weakly.

“Alright then. We’ll leave you to rest.”

She exited with her student, closing the door behind them.

Now, I was alone.

The room was quiet. Cold.

I sighed and shut my eyes tightly, my mind spinning with everything that had happened.

Slowly, my body gave in to exhaustion, and I drifted into sleep.

A week passed in Damien’s pack. Roberta and Elizabeth continued to care for me, but I hadn’t seen Damien—not once.

I asked about him, and the maids who took care of my needs said he’d gone to handle matters across the pack.

But rumors whispered something darker.

They said Damien was dangerous… possessed.

Even the mention of his name made the maids flinch.

I was lying on the bed, staring at the ceiling, when a soft knock pulled me out of thought.

“Good evening.”

A girl with sharp blue eyes and red hair stepped in, standing timidly at the entrance.

“Evening, dear. How may I help you?” I asked softly.

Her head remained bowed.

“Ma’am… Lycan Damien requests your presence at the dinner table.”

I frowned.

He's back? And wants me to dine with him? Why?

I was too broken to even stand.

“Please tell him I’m not coming. I’ll have dinner here in my room,” I replied quietly.

Immediately, she dropped to her knees.

My eyes widened.

“Please! If you don’t come with me, he’ll kill me. I don’t want to die. Please… just for my sake,” she sobbed.

I stared at her, stunned.

Damien would kill her… over this?

She chuckled softly. “No, I’m Damien’s concubine.” My eyes widened. Damien has a concubine? That was new. Why wouldn’t he just marry her? “I heard Damien rescued you,” she continued, her gaze narrowing with suspicion. “What exactly are you to him?” I frowned at the question, irritation prickling in my chest. “Nothing. I’m nothing to him.” “Good. Keep it that way,” she snapped, her voice sharp as a blade. “Because he’s mine.” I lifted my chin, steadying my tone. “I’m not fighting you for him—and I never will. I’ll be leaving this pack soon anyway.” Her lips curled into a sneer as she flipped her hair to the other side, her flawless face marred with anger. “So,” she hissed, “when are you leaving?” I inhaled deeply. “Soon.” “Why soon? You should be gone already! He saved you, and you’re stable enough to leave!” Her high-pitched voice rang with accusation. I sucked in a breath, fighting to calm the rage that simmered in me. “I will leave… soon.” She sneered again. “Soon? When?

“I… don’t know,” Elizabeth admitted, lowering her voice. “I haven’t really seen her in person, but the rumors say she’s old, so very old. They say she patrols around the pack sometimes… picking herbs.” Picking herbs? My breath caught in my throat. That old woman had been picking herbs when I saw her. My vision blurred, my head grew heavy and fuzzy. How could that be possible? No—no, it couldn’t be. How could he…? “Are you okay?” the healer’s gentle voice cut into my spiraling thoughts. I nodded weakly, though my stomach twisted in painful knots. Why couldn’t I be happy? Why did everything keep falling apart around me? My parents were gone, murdered by the very people I thought we could trust. The one person I had cherished and loved with my entire being had betrayed me. And now… my child. “This child belongs to Lucas,” I whispered fiercely in my mind, clutching my belly. “Nobody else.” But even as I said it, the words felt like I was trying to convince myself more than anyone el

“How do you think she will feel, knowing fully well you are the father? This is getting more interesting than I thought.” Damien’s expression didn’t flinch. He stood tall, cold and dangerous, his broad shoulders stiffened as he stared out the wide window overlooking his pack lands. His presence was like ice, sharp and unyielding. The flicker of a smirk tugged at his lips, not because he was amused, but because of the irritating words of the man behind him. Zechariah. Zechariah lounged arrogantly in Damien’s grand chair, the seat of power he had no right to occupy, his long legs crossed, his black coat cascading like a curtain of shadows around him. He twirled a silver knife effortlessly between his fingers, eyes glinting with mischief. His aura was wrong, always wrong—half witch, half wolf, never fully either, and never fully trusted. But for years, he and Damien had maintained a toxic friendship, a bond bound more by darkness than loyalty. Damien raised the goblet in his hand and

“Why are you crying, Maddena?” My spine froze, my breath caught in my throat. Damien. Did he trace me here? I wiped my tears quickly, trying to hide them, but my voice betrayed me. “I’m… no.t crying,” I sniffed, the words broken. “Lycan Damien,” Elizabeth bowed deeply, her tone filled with respect and submission. His cold gaze swept over me before settling on her. “What happened? Who hurt her?” Elizabeth swallowed hard, her voice soft. “She refused to speak about anything, Lycan Damien. I kept asking, but she wouldn’t answer me.” Something about his presence unsettled me. The way he cared—it frightened me. It wasn’t normal. Why did he keep bringing up the pup? Was he worried for his brother’s child? Yes, that must be it. He was just being protective, nothing more. I shook off the forbidden thoughts that dared to surface. I had never met him before all this, never had an encounter with him. Whatever the witch said, she must have been mistaken. Yes. She had to be. I forced mys

“You’re carrying Damien’s heir.” My heart stopped. My lungs tightened, hands trembling. The excitement in her eyes unsettled me. Damien’s heir? How is that even possible? There must be some mistake. “What?” I asked, my breath hitching. She furrowed her brows slightly. “I sai—” “Ma’am Elena!” A soft, warm voice called from behind. I turned sharply—it was Elizabeth, my personal maid. Immediately, I snapped my head back toward the old woman. To my horror, she was gone. My eyes reeled in shock as I stared around in confusion. “Where is she?” I whispered. Elizabeth’s footsteps echoed as she rushed toward me. “Who are you talking about, Miss Elena?” she asked softly, scanning the empty garden, her face filled with perplexity. “The old lady…” My voice was low, shaky but audible. “Ma’am, we should leave now. There’s no one here. I’m sure you didn’t see anyone.” I bit down on my lips. I couldn’t argue, couldn’t even explain. I wasn’t sure if what the woman had said was true. It ca

  • Neglected by mate, Accepted by his brother    CHAPTER FIVE

I glared at her, my eyes wide with shock. Damien is going to kill her? Maybe… maybe he's crueler than his brother. I can’t stay here much longer. I scrambled off the bed and rushed to her, lifting her trembling form from the floor. She sniffled, tears streaming down her cheeks. “Don’t worry,” I whispered. “I’ll come with you.” Her eyes lit up instantly. “Thank you so much,” she breathed, her voice soft with relief. I couldn’t help but chuckle at her cuteness, but the moment was quickly shattered as a group of maids barged in, bowing their heads. “Greetings, Luna,” they chorused in unison. My brows furrowed. Luna? “Excuse me, there’s been a mistake,” I corrected quickly. “I’m not your Luna.” They glanced at one another, then bowed again. “We’re sorry, ma’am.” I sighed, the tension easing slightly—until I noticed a box in the hands of one of the maids. “What’s that?” I asked, pointing to it. She stepped forward and held it out to me. “It’s the gown for your dinner, ma’
