“Wait.”

Zackeil paused, lowering his sword to his side.

Lucas said… wait?

A small flicker of hope sparked inside me.

The crowd turned to him, confused by his sudden command.

“Beheading her is too simple a death,” he growled, his jaw clenched. “I want you to suffer, Maddena. For betraying my love… for making me a fool.”

He gritted his teeth and turned to Zackeil. “Sit her up.”

Zackeil removed my head from the chopping block and yanked me upright, twisting my arms behind my back.

“Bring the transparent coffin,” Lucas ordered coldly.

My heart nearly exploded in my chest.

No. No. No.

Being beheaded would’ve been better than being sealed alive inside a transparent coffin.

“Please, no!” I begged, my lips trembling. “You have to believe me. Why would I betray you, Lucas? Why would I ever cheat on you? Please, forgive me...”

Slap!

A loud yelp escaped my mouth as his hand struck my face. The force sent me crashing back down to the floor.

I struggled to lift myself, the chains still weighing down my arms. “Lucas…”

“Bring the coffin!” he barked.

The crowd parted in stunned silence as two guards brought it forward, the crystal-clear coffin reflecting the moonlight as they set it down in front of me.

I stared at it, wide-eyed, my throat tightening. I glanced at Lucas once more, hoping, praying, for a flicker of mercy.

But he didn’t even look at me. He just gestured for the soldiers to unchain me.

They struggled with the bindings, the metal biting into my skin until, finally, the chains clattered to the ground. I rubbed my bruised wrists gently, my entire body aching.

I looked at the crowd.

My pack.

The same people I had protected, cared for, loved. The same pack I once called family.

And Lucas… the mate I gave my soul to.

I never knew he was capable of being this heartless. If I had known, I would’ve rejected him the day I met him in that forest.

I caught Blaze’s gaze through the crowd. His eyes were red, full of pain and sorrow.

“I’m sorry, little sister,” he mouthed.

I gave a weak nod. It wasn’t his fault. The one I would never forgive… was Lucas.

He betrayed me.

Lucas’s voice sliced through the silence. “Will you get into the coffin willingly, or shall I force you?”

I blinked, tearing my eyes away from Blaze. The coffin loomed in front of me, cold and inviting.

I turned to the crowd again, my so-called family, then back to Lucas.

My legs trembled as I slowly stood. Every movement hurt, but none of it mattered now. I was going to die either way. My throat burned. My chest ached.

I approached the coffin and opened it. Inside, the cushioning looked soft. Ironically comfortable.

I gave a soft, bitter smile. At least I’d die lying down.

No one would watch me take my last breath.

Tears welled in my eyes as I lay inside the coffin, curling slightly on my side.

Lucas slammed the lid shut.

Click.

He locked it.

I didn’t scream. I didn’t panic.

The Moon Goddess knew I was innocent. So if this was how I was to meet her… so be it.

I shut my eyes and exhaled.

The coffin lifted.

I stayed still as they carried me for what felt like forever, roughly an hour, before finally setting it down.

“Alpha Lucas, what should we do next?” one of the soldiers asked.

Lucas didn’t respond.

Then came his roar

“Throw her into the water!” he said coldly, no hesitation. no guilt.

My heart shattered again.

Lucas had truly changed.

Seven years. Seven entire years we spent together. Through everything. And now, this.

I only learned I was pregnant a few days ago. After feeling unwell, I visited the pack healer. I had rushed home, eager to tell Lucas.

But the moment he heard the news… he snapped.

And now, he wanted to bury me alive.

“And now he wants to kill me and my unborn child?” I coughed in disbelief, the coffin already growing hot and suffocating. “It will never be well with him or this cursed pack…”

“Yes, Alpha,” the soldier responded.

Through the transparent coffin, I saw Lucas. His eyes were cold, filled with disgust.

The guards pushed the coffin forward. I felt the slow movement. The soft shift of the ground underneath me.

We were near the water.

I tried to steady my breathing, but the air was growing thin.

I stared at Lucas one last time. Tears blurred my vision as the coffin slid into the river, floating slowly away.

I watched them watch me.

I watched him walk away.

And then… they disappeared from view.

The coffin floated for a while, the silence unbearable. But then,

Thud.

We hit something. My head slammed against the side of the coffin. I cried out, pressing my thumb to my throbbing temple.

Still dazed, I tried to break the glass with my fists. I needed to protect my baby. But nothing worked.

“Emilia…” I tried to speak to my wolf.

No answer.

She was silent. Betrayed. Shattered, just like me.

Then… I felt something wet on my back, cold and spreading.

I reached behind me, water.

It was seeping in.

I gasped. Panic surged through me.

“No... no, no, no!” I banged the glass again, screaming. “Help! Somebody please!”

“I don’t want my baby to die!”

But no one answered. No one heard.

Maybe this really was the Moon Goddess’s plan. Maybe this was my fate.

The water level rose, creeping to my neck. I held my breath as it swallowed my face.

I couldn’t hold on much longer, my chest was burning, my lungs aches.

The coffin finally sank beneath the surface. I stared upward, watching the fading glimmer of moonlight disappear.

This was it.

I released my nose, surrendering to the dark.

And then—

Splash.

A figure dove into the water. Fast. Strong.

He swam toward me, muscles cutting through the depths like a blade. He reached the coffin, smashing the lock.

He pulled me out.

I tried to see his face… but the water filled my lungs.

I passed out before I could recognize the man who saved me.

She chuckled softly. “No, I’m Damien’s concubine.” My eyes widened. Damien has a concubine? That was new. Why wouldn’t he just marry her? “I heard Damien rescued you,” she continued, her gaze narrowing with suspicion. “What exactly are you to him?” I frowned at the question, irritation prickling in my chest. “Nothing. I’m nothing to him.” “Good. Keep it that way,” she snapped, her voice sharp as a blade. “Because he’s mine.” I lifted my chin, steadying my tone. “I’m not fighting you for him—and I never will. I’ll be leaving this pack soon anyway.” Her lips curled into a sneer as she flipped her hair to the other side, her flawless face marred with anger. “So,” she hissed, “when are you leaving?” I inhaled deeply. “Soon.” “Why soon? You should be gone already! He saved you, and you’re stable enough to leave!” Her high-pitched voice rang with accusation. I sucked in a breath, fighting to calm the rage that simmered in me. “I will leave… soon.” She sneered again. “Soon? When?

“I… don’t know,” Elizabeth admitted, lowering her voice. “I haven’t really seen her in person, but the rumors say she’s old, so very old. They say she patrols around the pack sometimes… picking herbs.” Picking herbs? My breath caught in my throat. That old woman had been picking herbs when I saw her. My vision blurred, my head grew heavy and fuzzy. How could that be possible? No—no, it couldn’t be. How could he…? “Are you okay?” the healer’s gentle voice cut into my spiraling thoughts. I nodded weakly, though my stomach twisted in painful knots. Why couldn’t I be happy? Why did everything keep falling apart around me? My parents were gone, murdered by the very people I thought we could trust. The one person I had cherished and loved with my entire being had betrayed me. And now… my child. “This child belongs to Lucas,” I whispered fiercely in my mind, clutching my belly. “Nobody else.” But even as I said it, the words felt like I was trying to convince myself more than anyone el

“How do you think she will feel, knowing fully well you are the father? This is getting more interesting than I thought.” Damien’s expression didn’t flinch. He stood tall, cold and dangerous, his broad shoulders stiffened as he stared out the wide window overlooking his pack lands. His presence was like ice, sharp and unyielding. The flicker of a smirk tugged at his lips, not because he was amused, but because of the irritating words of the man behind him. Zechariah. Zechariah lounged arrogantly in Damien’s grand chair, the seat of power he had no right to occupy, his long legs crossed, his black coat cascading like a curtain of shadows around him. He twirled a silver knife effortlessly between his fingers, eyes glinting with mischief. His aura was wrong, always wrong—half witch, half wolf, never fully either, and never fully trusted. But for years, he and Damien had maintained a toxic friendship, a bond bound more by darkness than loyalty. Damien raised the goblet in his hand and

“Why are you crying, Maddena?” My spine froze, my breath caught in my throat. Damien. Did he trace me here? I wiped my tears quickly, trying to hide them, but my voice betrayed me. “I’m… no.t crying,” I sniffed, the words broken. “Lycan Damien,” Elizabeth bowed deeply, her tone filled with respect and submission. His cold gaze swept over me before settling on her. “What happened? Who hurt her?” Elizabeth swallowed hard, her voice soft. “She refused to speak about anything, Lycan Damien. I kept asking, but she wouldn’t answer me.” Something about his presence unsettled me. The way he cared—it frightened me. It wasn’t normal. Why did he keep bringing up the pup? Was he worried for his brother’s child? Yes, that must be it. He was just being protective, nothing more. I shook off the forbidden thoughts that dared to surface. I had never met him before all this, never had an encounter with him. Whatever the witch said, she must have been mistaken. Yes. She had to be. I forced mys

“You’re carrying Damien’s heir.” My heart stopped. My lungs tightened, hands trembling. The excitement in her eyes unsettled me. Damien’s heir? How is that even possible? There must be some mistake. “What?” I asked, my breath hitching. She furrowed her brows slightly. “I sai—” “Ma’am Elena!” A soft, warm voice called from behind. I turned sharply—it was Elizabeth, my personal maid. Immediately, I snapped my head back toward the old woman. To my horror, she was gone. My eyes reeled in shock as I stared around in confusion. “Where is she?” I whispered. Elizabeth’s footsteps echoed as she rushed toward me. “Who are you talking about, Miss Elena?” she asked softly, scanning the empty garden, her face filled with perplexity. “The old lady…” My voice was low, shaky but audible. “Ma’am, we should leave now. There’s no one here. I’m sure you didn’t see anyone.” I bit down on my lips. I couldn’t argue, couldn’t even explain. I wasn’t sure if what the woman had said was true. It ca

I glared at her, my eyes wide with shock. Damien is going to kill her? Maybe… maybe he's crueler than his brother. I can’t stay here much longer. I scrambled off the bed and rushed to her, lifting her trembling form from the floor. She sniffled, tears streaming down her cheeks. “Don’t worry,” I whispered. “I’ll come with you.” Her eyes lit up instantly. “Thank you so much,” she breathed, her voice soft with relief. I couldn’t help but chuckle at her cuteness, but the moment was quickly shattered as a group of maids barged in, bowing their heads. “Greetings, Luna,” they chorused in unison. My brows furrowed. Luna? “Excuse me, there’s been a mistake,” I corrected quickly. “I’m not your Luna.” They glanced at one another, then bowed again. “We’re sorry, ma’am.” I sighed, the tension easing slightly—until I noticed a box in the hands of one of the maids. “What’s that?” I asked, pointing to it. She stepped forward and held it out to me. “It’s the gown for your dinner, ma’
