6: Not a whore?

Hilda Cavill narrowed her eyes looking up and down at the woman claiming to be pregnant for her son and wasn't impressed at all. She pursed her lips, scoffing softly. 'The damn whore must have known my boy is innocent and decided to take advantage of him.' She thought grimly, pushing past them and stepped further into the house.

Alicia knew she was screwed.

From her conversation with Theo, Alicia knew Hilda's opinion of her will impact their lives greatly. And Alicia wanted to get in the good graces of the elegant woman glaring at her like she was the worst scum on the face of the earth.

“Why, my son?” Hilda asked, merely curious. Alicia didn't understand the question well, so she hesitated. It only made Hilda more suspicious.

“She is actually a nice one mother,” Xavier tried to intervene, but Hilda's mean scowl shushed him up immediately.

“So nice that she trapped my son with an unwanted pregnancy,” Hilda mocked. “Are you even sure he is the father?” She frowned thoughtfully.

“Yes, I am confident, and I didn't trap your son, ma'am.” Alicia snapped with fake calmness. Xavier smiled impressed. Alicia was no damsel in distress, she could hold her ground even in the face of someone as intimidating as Hilda.

“Get ready,” Hilda grumbled instead. “I promised my son I will take you to a doctor.” She added dispassionately. Alicia nodded warily. She headed to Theo's room and picked up one of his oversized pair of sweats. He had told her she could use his clothes before she gets her own.

Back downstairs, Hilda gave it to Xavier nicely. As the mama's boy had anticipated, she wasn't happy with the news, and she didn't mince her words.

“How are we to know if she is telling the truth?” Hilda barked. “You know your brother is naive with these kinds of stuff.” She whined.

“I know,” Xavier admitted. “But he is not a child, mum. And who knows if he would have had the guts to approach a woman on his own?” Xavier quizzed, raising his brows knowingly. Hilda chuckled softly. Xavier did have a point. Theo was still a virgin at twenty-five, so Hilda didn't put it past the nerd to reach forty without touching a woman.

“So what now?” she sighed in defeat, “I am supposed to be grateful that a whore is birthing my grandchild?” Her sarcasm wasn't lost on Xavier. He assured her that at least it was a pretty whore, which sent Hilda into a fit of laughter.

“You are full of shit,” she groaned. Before Xavier could respond, Alicia re-emerged.

“And she doesn't even have clothes,” Hilda muttered sourly, leading the way out. Xavier gestured for Alicia to follow, and he came last, locking the doors. Outside, Hilda's chauffeur, Julius, was leaning on the Rolls-Royce Cullinan black badge and when he saw them he straightened up, opening back left for Hilda. He went around and opened the back right for Alicia and Xavier had already settled in the passenger seat.

After settling behind the wheel, Julius stepped on the guess, and in under an hour, he was pulling into Crisco private hospital. Hilda, of course, led the way, with Alicia and Theo following quietly like some errant kids who had just been reprimanded.

“Mrs. Cavill,” the receptionist called warmly. Perks of being a VIP client and a generous donor to the hospital. Everyone feels obligated to know who you are and what you look like.

“Doctor Mason is expecting you.” The lively receptionist informed, peeking at Alicia's funny form. The oversized clothes and grim faces of Xavier and Alicia screamed, I got a girl pregnant and mother doesn't approve. Hilda sauntered towards the familiar office.

“Hilda,” Doctor Mason greeted, kissing her on both cheeks. The familiarity between the two is apparent. “Xavier,” the good doctor turned to the goofy man, who was looking strangely chilled in Mason's opinion. The doctor then turned to Alicia who introduced herself, shaking his hand warmly.

Hilda went ahead and told Mason the reason for their visit. Hilda's cold demeanor melted instantly at the sight of a tiny dot on the screen, signifying that her grandchild was growing in Alicia's womb. Her eyes became suspiciously bright. Even Xavier looked emotional. And then Hilda surprised everyone by requesting STD tests to be done on Alicia on top of the ultrasound. When the poor pregnant lady tried to disagree, Hilda asked her blatantly if she had anything to hide.

“Good lord knows how many diseases you might have picked in your line of work.” She argued. “I wouldn't want my grandchild to be at risk because of it.” That got Mason's curiosity. He asked the young woman what it is she did and before Alicia could get a word out, Hilda blurted bluntly. “She is a whore.”

Mason choked on nothing while Xavier groaned in mortification. He regretted accompanying the women to the hospital.

“I trust you have been using condoms,” Dr. Mason began questioning Alicia on her sexual habits. Unable to continue with the charade anymore, Alicia blurted that Theo was her first. Of course, Hilda didn't believe it. She was as skeptical as Xavier had been when Theo had told him that the hooker he slept with was a virgin. When it broke into a heated argument, Dr. Mason excused himself and gave them a moment of privacy to sort out their issues. Xavier explained to his mother what Theo had told him the day after his encounter with Alicia. That led to Hilda wanting a proper explanation of who Alicia truly was.

Left with no other choice, Alicia narrated her order from being a runaway bride to a hooker on the same day. But for some reason she would rather not share with Hilda or Xavier, Alicia asked them not to tell Theo the truth. She said she will do it when she is ready. Feeling mortified at how she had disregarded Alicia, Hilda accepted begrudgingly.

If someone had told Alicia how bad of an idea that was…

Lying to Theo, I mean.
