Noah's Pov.

The moment River walked out that door, it felt like everything in me went quiet.

Like someone had turned off the sound in the world. No footsteps. No heartbeat. Just silence.

I didn’t move for a while. Couldn’t. I stood there in the middle of the room, still shirtless, the cold air brushing against my skin but not waking me up from whatever this was. It didn’t feel real. Or maybe it felt too real. Too raw.

The blanket was still on the floor where it fell. His warmth was still trapped in it. I almost reached for it, like maybe if I picked it up, I could pretend he was still here. But my hands didn’t move. My chest just rose and fell like I’d run five miles with nothing chasing me but my own thoughts.

River was gone.

And I had no idea if he was coming back.

I sat down slowly on the edge of the bed, elbows resting on my knees. I rubbed my hands through my hair, over and over again, like maybe I could scrub away the night. Or make sense of it.

But I remembered it.

I remembered

  • Never Mine To Love   Game day

River’s POVI smiled through breakfast.Poured juice like nothing was wrong. Laughed when Claire teased her fiancé about his man-crush on Noah. Nodded when someone passed me the butter. Said “thanks” and “that’s great” and “wow, really?” like a normal person.Like my mind wasn’t a storm.Because inside, inside I was spinning. The smells of toast and scrambled eggs, the clinking of silverware, the hum of conversation—they were all too loud. Too bright. Everyone was so alive, so normal. And I was just… pretending.I hadn’t slept. Not really. Just laid there, staring at the ceiling, flipping my pillow over and over, hoping sleep would come. But all I could hear was that stupid ding in my head. That message.Elliot’s message. His voice, even though it wasn’t a voice message. It still rang in my ears like he’d spoken it right beside me. Like he was standing over my bed, arms folded, judging. He lied to you.It never stopped.Just that. Two lines. But they clawed into me like nails against

  • Never Mine To Love   End of it

Noah's Pov Something changed with river's behaviour.Like when you walk into a room and someone just left, and the air still holds the shape of them. Like when a song skips, not enough to ruin it, but enough that you know something’s off. That’s what it was like. One second River was laughing, really laughing. His smile touched every part of his face. He had this small dimple on the left side that only showed when he was genuinely amused. And he was—at least I thought so. Claire had just finished telling her story about the time she mistook salt for sugar in her baking, and he laughed so hard he nearly dropped his fork. But the next moment…Something went quiet inside him.Not loud. Not even obvious.Just… quiet.Like a light dimmed behind his eyes. His smile faded before anyone noticed. His fork hovered over the raspberry cheesecake, then lowered slowly, like he forgot it was even there. He blinked down at his phone. Once. Twice. Then tapped the side of it with his finger. Just once

River's Pov.Noah’s sister arrived like a gust of wind—bright, warm, and impossible to ignore. She burst through the front door with a suitcase rolling behind her and her fiancé in tow, laughing at something he whispered in her ear. Her coat flared around her legs, and her cheeks were pink from the sun. There was something about her—like the kind of person who made every room feel alive the moment she walked in.Her eyes swept the entryway, skipping over the coat rack and Noah’s shoes kicked aside by the rug, and landed right on me.They lit up instantly.“River!” she gasped, her whole face brightening, as if she was seeing a long-lost friend.I barely had time to stand before she closed the space between us and wrapped her arms around me. She smelled like sweet perfume and winter wool, her hug soft and full of energy.“God, it’s so good to finally meet you again!” she said, pulling back just enough to look at me, her hands still warm on my shoulders. “Noah has said nothing when I ask

Daniel’s POV“Our little play date is almost over.”The words echoed in my ears long after Olivia had said them. They weren’t loud, but they rang like a bell I couldn’t unhear. Sharp. Strange. Cold. For a second, I just stood there in my office, frozen. The phone pressed to my ear. The computer still open behind me. A stack of books on the edge of the desk. But everything faded—blurred into nothing.“What did you say?” I asked again, though I had heard her clearly.Olivia’s voice was tight. Not scared, but not calm either. “It’s written on the package,” she said. “Just that. In cut-out black letters. Like something from an old mystery movie.”I rubbed a hand across my jaw. My throat felt dry.“Don’t open it. Don’t touch it,” I said quickly. My body had already started to move on its own. I grabbed my coat from the hook, my keys clinking loudly as I snatched them from the bowl. “Just leave it where it is.”“I didn’t touch anything,” she answered. “It was sitting on the front table when

Daniel's Pov.Karden’s lips were soft.Too soft.At first, my brain refused to understand what was happening. It just... froze. Like everything in me paused for a second too long. A kiss. He was kissing me. And it wasn’t a mistake. It wasn’t one of those moments where someone leans too close and you turn your head at the wrong time. No. This was deliberate. This had pressure. Intention. Then, he moved his tongue. And that was when everything inside me spin sideways.I flinched. The room felt like it tilted beneath my feet. My breath caught, and I was suddenly very aware of every inch of space between us—not enough. My chair screeched harshly against the floor as I shoved myself away. The sound cracked through the quiet room like thunder, but I didn’t care.I needed distance. I needed air.I stood quickly, heart pounding against my ribs. Not just in surprise, but in disbelief. Anger. Confusion.“What do you think you’re doing?” My voice came out colder than I meant. Sharp like glass. I

  • Never Mine To Love   Wedding Fever pt4

River’s POVI didn’t know how I made it through dessert after that. Maybe because the chocolate tart was soft and sweet enough to distract me. Or maybe because Noah didn’t say anything else. Not to the boy. Not to me. Not even when the table picked up again and conversations returned to normal.I just kept my eyes down and nodded when someone passed me another napkin or asked if I wanted tea. I didn’t. What I wanted was to disappear into the floor, maybe sink through the rug and vanish into the basement or something. I couldn’t stop hearing the boy’s voice in my head.“But can he be your boyfriend?”God.By the time people began getting up from the table, I was already halfway out of my chair. I mumbled something about the bathroom and slipped away, walking fast down the hallway even though I had no idea where I was going. I wasn’t even sure I remembered which room Noah had put me in. This house was too big. Too quiet now. Too polished and full of eyes that felt like they followed me
