If only.....

Grandpa Holston had been carried back to his room by Ron and the family doctor called by the time Daniel came back to his senses. He hurried over to Grandpa Holston’s room but was stopped by the old butler.

“Young master, the doctor said not to give the old master any excitement otherwise we won’t be able to hold back what is left of his life.” The old butler lowered his head “Old master said he doesn’t want to see you right now. Let him calm down.”

“Grandpa refused to see me?” Daniel pointed at himself in disbelief.

“Young master, don’t blame the old master.” The old butler shook his head in heartache “I have watched the old master’s heartache every time he has to go over as a guest to see his own grandchildren. I have seen his heartache when he looks at the lamps that were meant to light his house shining brightly at another….I have seen his yearning and regret. At his age, there is not much he wishes for and the one thing he so desperately wishes for, has been distanced from him.
