*Janice Pov*
I woke up suddenly hearing the pounding on my door. I groaned, feeling complete disappointment because my dream was getting better, but this just disturbed it.
“I am coming!” I mumbled and opened the door yawning.
“Janice! There is an emergency.” He said, staring at me.
“What happened?” I asked him in shock.
“Murder is going on Janice.” He replied and pointed downstairs.
“Huh?” I said not understanding at all.
“Mom is cutting the bread into slices. She is murdering the bread, and you are sleeping here. How irresponsible you are Janice?” He said, shaking his head in disappointment.
“You are dead, Benjamin.” I shouted and started hitting him.
“It’s Ben.” He said and tried not to get hit by me.
“Janice! Ben! Come downstairs and have some breakfast.” I heard Mom calling us.
“I hate you.” I said hitting his shoulder and walked back inside my room to get ready.
“I know you love me, little sister.” He shouted and walked away.
That I do! He is such a good brother I could ever have except at these times where he tries to prank on me but only with words.
After getting ready, I walked downstairs to see complete silence filled dining table. My brother sighed in relief when he saw me.
“So do you need to go to college today?” he asked smirking.
“Yes!” I replied, glaring at him, even after he knows why it is important.
“College is over, right?” Mom asked, frowning at me.
“We all students decided to meet once at the college itself and spend time with no worries.” I replied.
“Ok! And did you plan what will you do now?” Dad asked.
“Dad! She just got graduated. Let her enjoy her holidays.” Brother replied before I can say anything.
“I want to be a lecturer.” I said shrugging.
“Perfect profession for you Janice! As spectacles are already there only a stick is missing in your hand. And you really talk only about subjects all the time, so it is perfect.” He said, glancing at Mom and Dad, and I stopped myself from smiling.
“Fine! You can choose it, and Ben is enough for the business I guess.” Dad said after a few minutes, and I stopped myself from giving a grin.
“Ok Dad.” I mumbled, and we both got up while Mom and Dad continued to talk.
“You are such a sweet brother. I got really scared he will not accept it, but you did it.” I said hugging him.
“You need to help me too.” He said in a serious tone.
“About what?” I asked him frowning.
“Next week, I will bring her here, and you need to be on my side making them accept us.” He replied.
“Of course I will do anything for Abby.” I said smiling.
“Really? She became more important than your brother?” He asked frowning.
“Don’t sulk, Bro! Now let me go to college.” I said, taking my purse and the books I need to return to the library.
“All the best.” He said grinning.
“I just need little confidence.” I said, taking a deep breath and left the house.
I walked outside and saw him already driving away from his home. Don’t worry Janice! Everything will be fine.
Oh Jesus! I know I am taking advantage of a situation here, but what can I do. He is now single and doesn't have any girlfriend hanging on his arm and mainly that Parul Mitra.
I don’t have any other chance than this. I need to tell him about my crush otherwise I will never be able to.
I talked to god inside and reached the college within minutes as it is very near to our house.
I glanced around and then saw him standing with his friends. He is such a cute guy, and everyone dies for him.
My David Silva! My first crush on my first day of college. And to top off that he became our neighbor as they shifted here before the college started.
The first year I couldn’t bring myself to even say anything thinking he will think badly and then later he got his girlfriend here Parul.
Parul is the hottest girl in the college, and all the boys are behind her, but she chose David.
But they both were like on and off a couple. They get into fights for silly things and then again, get together feeling jealous when any one of them started dating some other.
Such a weird thing to do, but who am I to tell anything. I never had any boyfriend or have anyone to show interest in me.
For the past few months, they are separate, and I think this is my final chance. I took a deep breath and started walking towards him not wanting to look at anyone else.
However, stopped in my tracks when I saw Parul walking towards him and they both were cozy. This is not fair, David! I thought and slowly the feeling of crush left.
I turned to go, but got collided with someone. My books fell down and I immediately bent to pick them up.
The guy too helped me, and we finally said, “I am sorry.”
“No! I should have seen.” I said, getting up.
“Even I should have seen.” He said looking behind me but not at me.
“Janice! Janice Britto.” I said forwarding my hand.
“Adithya! Adithya Sinha.” He said shaking my hand.
*Adithya Pov*
“No, Dad!” I said for the hundredth time.
“But Adithya, this is our family business, and you need to take care of it.” He said frowning.
“The business world is not for me. My cousins are doing good work so pass it down to them, and they are also our family right.” I said getting up.
“But...” he started to say, and I cut him off saying, “I will do something which I want to. I will tell you soon what it is but for now it is a secret.”
“Mom! I am leaving.” I said walking outside.
I took my bike and reached the college as soon as possible. Today I need to say to her that I like her.
She used to be my best friend in Intermediate but stopped when we joined here. Is it just because I am not popular in the college?
Nonetheless, she called me a few days back, and we talked like before. Maybe she too misses me, and this is my chance to say to her about my feelings.
I reached the college and started searching for her, but I couldn’t see Parul anywhere. So I decided to ask her friends who are standing with that David.
Nevertheless, stopped in my tracks when I saw her walking towards him and look like they both are together again.
I sighed and rubbed my forehead and started walking, but suddenly collided with someone.
I helped her to retrieve her books, and we both said “I am sorry.”
“No! I should have seen.” She said getting up.
“Even I should have seen.” I said and looked behind her to see both David and Parul hugging.
“Janice! Janice Britto.” She said forwarding her hand.
“Adithya! Adithya Sinha.” I said and shook her hand.
“Nice to meet you.” We both said at a time but didn’t laugh.
We both nodded and walked away in our different directions. I think it is time for me to forget about Parul.
#Two years after the day they both got married# *Janice Pov* “I am fine!” I mumbled holding his hand. "Fine?! If I was even a second late, you would have fallen down already.” He said, shaking his head, and we continued to climb down the stairs. “I am just a little tired, that’s all.” I said when we reached the dining table. “That’s why I asked you all not to celebrate the anniversary yesterday, and now you are tired because of that.” He said scolding his parents. “We all forgot your first anniversary last year, so we want to make it up to you both for the second one. That’s why we celebrated it yesterday.” Aunty said looking back at him. “By the way you didn’t complain to any of us during the celebration.” I pointed out smiling at him. “That’s because my wife is so smart here.” He said, narrowing his eyes at me. “What did I do?” I asked him innocently. “You know I will complain or even scold them so that’s why you asked them to even arrange a baby shower for you right? Do y
*Janice Pov* “No!” I groaned hearing the last days plan. Nevertheless, no one heard it as all the guys said the same word along with me. Adi is the only one who heard it and raised his eyebrow looking at me. “Come on! All the girls accepted your wishes and didn’t go for shopping not a single time. Now let them enjoy it.” Kamal said trying to make everyone accept. “We will not come with you guys for shopping.” One guy said, and every guy accepted. “Ok! We don’t have a problem with that at all. We all girls will go and do it.” Few girls said getting up. “Why would any of you care if we go alone or not right?” I asked getting up with them. “Yeah! She is right. No one of you cares for us at all and doesn't mind for our safety too.” Pooja pushed my line. “What are you doing?” Adi asked in a whisper. “You proved that emotional blackmail will work right? So I am helping them and look at the guys faces. It is so fun.” I replied smiling at him. “Fine!” All the guys shouted hearing th
*Janice Pov* “Wake up!” I groaned hearing that and turned away not wanting to open my eyes at all. Then I felt a little cold, so I patted beside me for him, but it is empty. I opened my eyes a little and asked, “Where are you?” “I just woke up and going to get ready.” He replied. “I will wake up too, but just stay here for a few minutes.” I said closing my eyes again. “No! We will get late.” He said sighing. “Ok! I will sleep in this cold by myself.” I said hearing him and sighed myself. I turned on my side with my back towards him and started to drift off into sleep with this cold feeling itself. In a few seconds, I felt him lay down beside me, and he pulled me towards him with a strong hold on my waist. I smiled into his hold, and he turned me around before I could actually sleep. “You just blackmailed me. Do you know that?” he asked accusingly. “It worked right?” I asked him back opening my eyes. “You are dangerous.” He replied, smiling at me. “And I love you.” I said,
*Janice Pov* “I don’t want to wear it, Adi.” I said, pushing away the big sweater. “But you will get cold, Jaan. Listen to me please.” He said and at last I indeed wore that. We both walked outside and saw that everyone is reaching the busses. I glanced at all the girls, and I started removing the sweater as they all are looking great while I am covered in this stupid sweater. “What are you thinking? Don’t remove it.” Adi stopped me again. I glared at him before walking towards the bus where our pair is seated. Pooja and Kamal even went to an end and divided all the couples in two groups to not have any confusion. “Nice sweater, Janice.” Giri said, laughing and I wish I can pour water on his head again like yesterday. “Hey! Don’t say anything to her.” Adi said while I turned to glare at him for making me wear this. After getting on the bus, I looked outside the window and didn’t even say a single word. Finally, we reached a place where they selected for all of us to explore.
*Janice Pov* I rubbed my palms, feeling sting which is nothing but the side effect of the slaps I just delivered. I am not wanting to slap anyone again. I decided and started rubbing it more hoping the feeling goes away. Then I felt arms circling me from behind. I leaned into his hold and asked, “Did your work finished?” “Yeah!” He replied, whispering in my ear, making me feel ticklish. After a few seconds, I placed my hands over his and heard a small hiss from behind. I looked down to see his knuckles becoming little red, and I can totally say that a bruise is going to appear. “Did you really?” I asked him shortly. “Yeah! Are you mad?” He asked, and I frowned. “I too slapped Parul. Are you mad at me?” I asked him back turning around in his hold. “First love is special, Jaan, but the love which we want to be last forever cannot be measured using even all the words in this world.” He explained, and I placed my palm over his cheek. “Then why will I be mad, Adi. Because I know
*Adithya Pov* “What?” we both mumbled getting up from the bench and saw all of our friends standing before us. “I never thought you would do this, Adithya. I mean we all thought you are the best guy in our whole college.” Kamal said shaking his head. “Don’t you have shame?” Another guy asked with the same disgust. “Hey! Don’t you dare to say anything bad about him. I will not spare any one of you.” Jaan shouted at them and for one second, I got stun with none of them in my mind as Jaan never shouts at all with anger. “Don’t make us start with you Janice. Do you even know what you are doing? You are like a bad example for all the women.” Pooja said, and I glared at her. How dare she says a word about my wife? I fumed and heard everyone saying one worst thing towards us and mainly at Jaan. “Shut up!” I shouted with all the power I can and silence occupied around us. “It will not be good for anyone to say anything to her.” I threatened looking at each of them. “You are defending
