Only after she fell unconscious did the room check who was actually capable of performing such surgery. Sven and Quinn immediately pointed to me and my heart sank to its lowest, darkest depths.

Slicing open her soft, perfect skin was terrifying. The tautness of her bump meant every cut felt far too deep yet not enough. Plus, if I didn’t hurry, the medication would wear off and leave her enduring more pain at full volume.

Elvie and Arlen survived it their entire lives. Just curious what they will make of the place when pilgrims will no longer come because there’s no longer a healing beam. Elvie will have to retire eventually. Maybe Quinn or Dee or Sven have healing traits

She shouldn’t have given Mireille the power to kill by beam in the first place. Or taken it. But I feel it will serve a purpose somehow somewhere later.

This was tense... for a second I thought she will not make it...I am not liking the Goddess "punishment"? OK keep Mireille there, she killed everyone on purpose in the forest... but why her babys??
