Arnold’s POV

I knew coming out to my parents should have happened in a more thought-out and planned situation, but right now didn’t seem that bad either. I was more than sure about my feelings for Eli, so there was no need to cover up what was going on between us. Yes, we weren’t dating yet… but what if it happened soon? Honestly, I was waiting for it, hoping for it.

So yeah, I knew what I was doing when I blurted out that I liked Eli.

I didn’t even give myself the time to overthink how my parents were going to react. If I had, I would’ve chickened out. So here we were.

My mom wore a soft look, her eyes still on us like she was taking my words in slowly. My dad, on the other hand, had a blank expression I couldn’t read… or maybe I was too much of a frenzy to try.

“Why didn’t you tell us from the start?” my dad finally asked, his eyes raised. “Did you think we’d be against it?” His voice was softer than I’d ever heard like he was being careful not to say anything that could hurt me.

  • Nightmare turned love    Holding back

Nova’s POVIt was safe to say the cooking class turned out way better than expected. Once Arnold and Aiden swooped in to save me and Eli from our very unskilled kitchen performance, everything else went surprisingly smooth. We even managed to make a decent meal. Not as good as Aiden’s, of course he had to be irritatingly good but we got a thumbs-up from the chef, and honestly, that was more than enough for me.While Aiden and Arnold bragged for the rest of the class, I packed what was left into a container like we were told and stuffed it in my bag. Eli copied me with a grin.“Let’s get out of here before they talk our ears off,” he whined, tugging me toward the door, practically skipping. Yeah, he definitely enjoyed himself especially the part where he flung water at Arnold and tossed ingredients like we were in a food fight. We stepped out of the building with Aiden and my brother trailing behind us, still chatting like old friends reunited. Would’ve called them old men, except Aide

  • Nightmare turned love    Bonding class

Nova’s POVThe break went by way faster than any of us could explain. Like, tell me why there was suddenly only a week left until resumption? Not that I was complaining. We had fun. We had rest. And I spent so much time with Aiden that I think our personalities basically got mixed together now, in a good way, of course. We tried everything from skating to pottery to bead-making that one was Eli’s idea, obviously. Basically, it was the kind of break that felt calm and refreshing. A total win.Even my parents were different. They made more time for us after that last family “meeting,” and honestly? I think they liked Eli and Aiden more than their own kids at this point. But it was cute to watch them joke around with everyone, except when the mocking shifted toward me and Arnold. Then, not so cute.Aiden’s parents had come back from their trip too, which meant I occasionally saw them whenever I was over at his place. It was awkward at first I mean, imagine sitting in his house with his p

  • Nightmare turned love    Surprises

Nova’s POV The moment my eyes landed on my parents, they widened more than I’d ever seen them widen before. Like what were they even doing here? Okay, dumb question. This was their house, so valid. But why now? Why show up without warning only to find us like… this? Arnold wore the same deer-in-headlights expression as me as we awkwardly chorused, “Hi, Mom. Hi, Dad.” Then silence once again. Oh, universe, was this payback for what I did to poor Eli earlier? If so then wow, you really don’t know the meaning of chill. I pulled away slightly from Aiden, who wore his usual polite smile as he nodded at my parents. Eli just gave them a sheepish grin. Great. Perfect time to start cooking up excuses. “I see you guys were having a little hangout,” Mom said, chuckling lightly, her smile warm. “Yeah… something of that sort,” Arnold replied. Then, soft but accusing, “Why didn’t you tell us you’d be coming back today?” “Well, we thought we’d surprise you all,” Dad said sharply. “And it se

  • Nightmare turned love    Compromising

Eli’s POV I guess good looks aren’t an indicator of knowing how to cook, because what in the actual world did I just put in my mouth? It was like the pasta had been boiled inside a salt bag instead of the other way around. I shot Nova a look, one of those you know exactly what you’re doing looks as she strolled through the door grinning, pizza box in hand. Revenge. This was her revenge for earlier today. That little ball of attitude. In my defense… me and Arnold were actually… busy. And no, not like that. We were talking. Talking and, okay, maybe a little more than surface-level getting to know each other. Slow. Steady. Careful just like we said we would. My cheeks flushed just thinking about it, but that wasn’t the important part right now. I turned back to Nova, who’d reclaimed her seat, and shot her my deadliest glare. “That’s low, babe,” I said, brow raised. ''Even for you''. She chuckled lowly. “I’d say it was just right.” I shook my head, smiling despite myself. “Di

  • Nightmare turned love    Payback

Nova’s POVI don’t know if it was just me or the fact that I was perched on the kitchen island watching Aiden work his so-called magic, but it felt like the spaghetti was taking forever. Then again, what do I actually know about cooking? My job was simple: eat when it’s ready and say a very heartfelt “thank you.” That counted, right?Blame it on love blindness, but I had a good feeling it would taste amazing. The scent already filled the room, rich and warm, practically begging me to dive in. Honestly, it was a miracle Eli hadn’t floated downstairs yet, he had the nose of a bloodhound when it came to food. They both had a lot of explaining to do when they finally decided to crawl out of hiding.“Can you stop zoning out and come help me move the plates?” Aiden’s voice cut through my daydreaming, soft but teasing.I shot him my best guilty smile. “I think I can handle that much without messing it up.” I grinned, grabbing a plate. He even plated it nicely—ouu, so cute. Then my eyes narro
