Nova’s POV

I ended up texting Aiden because… why not? I’d been sitting here for hours okay, maybe just over ten minutes, but in hungry-girl math that counts as hours. Arnold and Eli were still nowhere to be found, and I was officially entering “hangry” territory. Why suffer alone when my boyfriend lived literally two minutes away? Exactly. So I sent the text and waited.

I was still glued to the couch, surrounded by the sad evidence of my morning struggle: half an apple abandoned on the table, a bag of chips I’d given up on halfway through… yeah, it had not been an easy morning.

The doorbell rang, and I nearly leapt to my feet. Finally. I practically bounced to the door, grinning as I yanked it open.

“Hi, baby!” I shouted, loud enough to wake the entire house.

Aiden’s brows pulled together in confusion, though he was still smiling. He probably thought I’d lost my mind, but no, this was strategic yelling. Arnold and Eli needed to hear and wrap up their little whatever it was. Peop

Nova’s POVI don’t know if it was just me or the fact that I was perched on the kitchen island watching Aiden work his so-called magic, but it felt like the spaghetti was taking forever. Then again, what do I actually know about cooking? My job was simple: eat when it’s ready and say a very heartfelt “thank you.” That counted, right?Blame it on love blindness, but I had a good feeling it would taste amazing. The scent already filled the room, rich and warm, practically begging me to dive in. Honestly, it was a miracle Eli hadn’t floated downstairs yet, he had the nose of a bloodhound when it came to food. They both had a lot of explaining to do when they finally decided to crawl out of hiding.“Can you stop zoning out and come help me move the plates?” Aiden’s voice cut through my daydreaming, soft but teasing.I shot him my best guilty smile. “I think I can handle that much without messing it up.” I grinned, grabbing a plate. He even plated it nicely—ouu, so cute. Then my eyes narro

  • Nightmare turned love    Ally

Aiden’s POV I sat in the sitting room after I walked into the house. The quiet didn’t help, if anything, it made the tiny anxiety about talking to my dad settle deeper. Sure, whatever he had to say wouldn’t change anything between me and Nova, but still… it wouldn’t hurt to have him on board. I stretched out on the couch, knowing they’d be back in about an hour. And of course, right on cue, just as I came out of the kitchen with a cereal bowl, the door creaked open. They walked in, both looking tired. “Welcome home,” I said casually, dropping back on the couch and crossing my legs. My dad shot me a look. “You’re keeping up this attitude, huh?” He sat down heavily while my mom just shook her head at us and strolled into the kitchen. I gave her a small smile before turning back to him. “The attitude should’ve grown on you by now, Dad. Why would you pull such a stunt anyway?” “You’ve never been serious about any relationship for more than a year,” he said firmly. “And I thought t

Nova’s POV I settled into my room after my talk with Eli. I had no idea how his talk with Arnold was going to go, or if he’d even manage to say anything at all but yeah, I was hoping for the best. I laid there for… I don’t know, twenty? Thirty minutes? I just let my mind wander to the most random things. Don’t ask me what, I couldn’t even pinpoint a single one. But I know I wasn’t blank the whole time. Eventually, I picked up my phone to check up on Aiden, like I promised. His talk with his dad might not have gone as far as I’d been imagining, but I was still worried. I could at least do that much. I opened his contact, hit the call button, and started patting my feet against the bed as I waited. What was taking him so long to answer? Were they still in the middle of the conversation? The call rang for a few more seconds before I finally dropped it with a sigh. I switched to Messenger instead, sent a quick “Call me when you’re free” text, and tossed my phone aside. Well not befor

Arnold’s POV When he said it, actually said it to my face instead of me overhearing his talks with Nova. it hit harder than I’d imagined. Hearing Eli finally admit what held him back made my chest clench like it physically hurt. For a moment, I just stared at him, unable to find words. He looked so vulnerable, and all I wanted was to comfort him. So I did. I stepped closer, wrapping my arms around him, holding him tight, patting his back. “I’m sorry for making you feel that way, Eli,” I murmured against his shoulder. He suddenly pushed me back, surprising me. “You’re not responsible for my fear, Arnold,” he said firmly, eyes glistening. “So don’t be sorry. Yes, I’m scared of being left behind, it’s happened before. But even if you do end up leaving…” He drew a shaky breath, forcing a grin that broke my heart. “It’ll be for a reason you can’t avoid. You’ll need to go to college.” How could he still smile while saying something that clearly hurt him? He was breaking inside, and I

  • Nightmare turned love    Fear

Eli’s POV After my little talk with Nova, we both decided to head upstairs, her to call Aiden, and me… well, I didn’t really know. Maybe I’d stroll into Arnold’s room or something, just to give them privacy. The moment we reached the top of the stairs, she skipped off to her room, and I turned down the hall. Arnold’s door came into view, slightly ajar. I took a deep breath. Let’s get this. I had no idea what had been keeping him so quiet since we got back, but I really hoped it wasn’t because of me calling him babe. I lifted my hand to knock but ended up just pushing the door open. The second I stepped inside and turned around, there he was. Shirtless. Water dripping down from his hair, running along his chest. My eyes went wide, and I swallowed hard. Nope. Nope, this isn’t what I came here for, for goodness’ sake. I forced myself to look away, covering my face slightly. His laugh filled the room, low and amused. “Why are you hiding like this is the first time you’ve seen m
