MasukWhen the gas cooker exploded and Sharon Milton was close to death, only her five-year-old son, James Collins, was at her side. Her spirit stood next to James and looked at him as he sobbed and called Sean Collins. He begged Sean to come home and save his mommy. However, Sean only scolded him and told him not to lie like Sharon before hanging up. James wiped the tears from his eyes and called 911. When the ambulance finally arrived, Sean appeared and stept in. "Daddy, Mommy is bleeding out and needs the ambulance. Please don't take it from her!" "You little liar. Looks like your mom hasn't taught you very well. Step aside! Riley is due. She needs this ambulance more than Sharon!" James's eyes had turned red due to all the crying, but Sean pushed him away and left without even taking a look back. He got into the ambulance with Riley in his arms. "Daddy... Daddy! Please save Mommy!" James sobbed as he chased after the ambulance, but he didn't see the speeding truck that was heading towards him. Sharon shouted her son's name and wanted to push him away, but there was nothing she could do. She could only watch as James was run over by the truck. Beneath the wheels, there was a pool of blood spreading across the ground. Sharon was about to lose her mind. Over the past years, Sean had abandoned Sharon and James countless times for Riley Winston and her daughter. Whenever Sharon and Sean had an argument about this matter, Sean would always just say that he was repaying Riley's father for saving his life. Sharon just felt that Sean didn't know what he was doing. What she didn't expect was that he didn't care about her and James's lives at all. Sharon felt that she was the one who killed James. Her heart ached as she took her last breath. If there was another life, she just wished that she had nothing to do with Sean.

“Hey, um, could you spare me another fifteen minutes? I just need to wrap this up real quick and we will be good to go,” Rudney said. But Lily checked the time again; if she waited on Rudney, she would not be able to catch her brother’s baseball practice, and it would really break his heart. “Honestly, Rudney, it’s fine. We could always do this tomorrow. You don’t have to walk me to the bus station every freaking evening,” Lily tried to dissuade Rudney. The look on his face indicated that he did not want Lily to be on her own. “I could be really fast,” Rudney pressed. “Sorry!” Lily said stubbornly as she opened the door to the shop and walked into the street. She was not a baby that needed babysitting, and one day, she hoped that Rudney would understand that. Lily walked towards the bus station, whistling and humming to herself. If she got to the bus station in time, she might even see her brother before his game began. On the other side of the road, a man with an eye patch on one eye trailed Lucy without her knowledge. He had a phone glued to his ear. “Yes boss, we just found her. She is just like her,” he said into the phone while still watching and following Lily. “Get her to us right now, and do so discreetly,” the thick voice on the other end of the phone told the man. Lily checked her wristwatch again; three more minutes and she would be at the bus station, but as she turned towards the alley and walked alone, a sack came over her head in a swift second. Lily tried to struggle free, but it was futile as she slipped into unconsciousness almost immediately. An hour later, Lily woke up in a spacious and luxurious living room. Agitated and confused, she turned around quickly, and realized that there were other people, strange faces in the room with her as well. “Where am I? What am I doing here? How did I get here?” Lily said in fear. Before she could even get an answer, she leaped to her feet and faced the door, but the man who took her stood close to the door, and showed Lily a revolver. Lily paused in her tracks. “What is going on here?” Lily asked with shaky breath. “Well, now that you are awake and back to your senses, that question can be answered,” the man who ordered that she should be taken, Don Grander spoke in a husky tone. “You have been kidnapped,” Emily Torres, the only woman in the room informed Lily bluntly. “Come on, Em, there is no need to be so blunt. We want her to get a hang of everything slowly, otherwise she would freak out and fuck things up,” Don Grander gently scolded Emily. “But we do not have the time, Don! In less than a few hours, we should be presenting her, and here you are talking about grasping things slowly!” Emily stubbornly and impatiently countered. “What is going on here?” Lily blinked in confusion. The conversation these strangers were having in front of her was scaring her to her bones. “Why was I kidnapped? What presentation are you talking about?” Lily asked frantically. Her heart thundered against her ribs as she felt danger looming, and her eyes kept taking quick glances at the revolver with the one-eyed man. Lily did not need to be told that he was the one who kidnapped her. “As from this moment,” Don started, deciding to go straight to the point, “You are no longer Lily Bashwood, but my daughter, Ashley Grander, and in less than fifteen hours, you will be saying ‘I Do’ to Christopher Bridger as his bride,” Don revealed slowly. “Hell no! I will not impersonate anyone!” Lily vehemently disagreed, but before she could even finish voicing out her disagreement, the one-eyed man raised the revolver, reminding her of where she was. Lily swallowed hard, fear and dread engulfing her completely. Instantly, the large TV in the living room came on. Emily who was holding the remote turned it on, and the face of a young girl was displayed on the screen. Lily stared at the image on the TV, stupefied. If she wasn’t sure about her birth, she would have sworn that she was staring at her twin sister, well, except for the hair color. “She even has my eyes,” Lily said in a rasped breath. “But why am I impersonating her?” Lily turned to her abductors and asked. “Because she is dead. She died a few hours ago, and she is supposed to walk down the aisle tomorrow morning,” Don explained. Lily shook her head. “I cannot impersonate a dead person,” Lily said as tears welled up in her eyes. “Yes, you will. I am your father from henceforth, and she, Emily, is your sweet and loving stepmother. You have only a few hours to get into Ashley’s character, okay?” Don said. Lily began to weep. “You cannot do this to me. I have a family and a life already, please let me go!” Lily begged. “Uh, working as a server at a wine shop is not a life, darling,” Emily said in irritation. “And we are certain that Joe will be just fine if you play by the rules.” Lily looked at them in shock. It was obvious they knew everything about her. She was doomed! “Listen, this is just a marriage contract of one year. Play along and by this time next year, you are a free woman. Plus, we are willing to be a little generous to you in addition to the contract. That way, you can easily pay for Joe’s baseball practices without the hassles,” Don said with a glint of dread in his eyes. Lily dared to ask, “And if I refuse?” “Your only family, Joe would be kidnapped just as easily as we were able to get you, he will be killed and his body will be sent to you as a souvenir,” Don threatened. Lily knew it was not an empty threat. With both resolve and regret, Lily asked, “What do you need me to do?”"Remember, absolutely do not let Sharon and James in. Don't let them ruin my wedding with Riley."Sean recalled his previous words and immediately regretted them.He had tried so hard but still couldn't get in. Drunk and stumbling, he fell into the water on his way home.Just as he was about to drown, someone saved him.Sean didn't die, but as he lay there, on the brink of death, memories from his past life flooded back.In the hospital bed, he was filled with regret and guilt, tears streaming down his face."So, in my past life, my arrogance led to the deaths of Sharon and James. Even after they died, I only found out 10 years later that Riley had been deceiving me."Had Sharon also been reborn?‘No wonder her attitude suddenly changed and she agreed to the divorce, and hated me so much!’He had thought that as long as his son didn't die, he could still earn their forgiveness. But now, how could he face Sharon and James? How could he have been so foolish, so easily manipula
Sean's father only cared about Jack and treated him poorly, the person he was closest to was his mother. Now, his mother had attempted suicide because of him, and she wanted to sever their mother-son relationship. His heart felt as though it had been ripped out.But Sean didn't even have time to console his mother, as he was being bombarded with calls from the shareholders who were criticizing him."Have you lost your mind? You kept saying the Ziri Project was all set, so how did it end up in Jack's hands?""Are you a CEO or just a fool being played by a woman?"Even a lawyer called him. "Mr. Collins, I'm representing Ms. Winston, and I'm here to handle your divorce proceedings. She wants you to leave with nothing."Upon hearing this, Sean was filled with disbelief and thought the lawyer was just making things up.He went to prison to see Riley. However, she unexpectedly pointed at his nose and scolded him, "My father died saving you, and all I wanted was to be your wife. Sharon mocked, "You keep saying you were wrong and will make it up to me and James, but where's the compensation? I don't see you doing anything!"Sean grabbed her hand, his tone sincere. "I couldn't take revenge on Riley and Jordan, but I will treat you and James well from now on, very well, I swear!""Turning the duties of a husband and father into 'compensation'. Sean, you really have no shame!" Sharon yanked her hand away. "I will never remarry you. You can give up on that!"He had no clarity in his actions, and only she and their son would be the ones to suffer.Chris called, worried.Sharon was about to go, but Sean suddenly hugged her tightly from behind. His tears fell on her neck, scalding hot."I was just deceived and did some wrong things. But in the end, I didn't cause any irreversible consequences. I've turned back now, please forgive me!"The moment he said that, Sharon was filled with rage."Let go!" She gritted her teeth."Sharon, listen to me... Ah!"Sharon
James disliked their chatter and had already started eating."The fried chickens are delicious! And so is the steak! Daddy, I love you so much!"Chris leaned over and kissed James on the cheek. "I love you too, James!"Sharon hadn't seen James this happy in a long time.At that moment, she had a fleeting feeling that they were just a happy family of three. After they finished eating, Chris drove, taking Sharon and James to the nursery. It was the parent-child sports day, and the little guy had specifically invited them both.On the way, James chattered excitedly."This time, I have both Daddy and Mommy with me. Let's see who will still laugh at me for not having a Daddy! Mommy, Daddy, Jordan’s not at the new nursery. No one is bullying me anymore. I’m so happy! I don’t have to envy others for having a Daddy anymore. I also have a super, super awesome Daddy!"James was absolutely delighted. But the more Sharon listened, the more uncomfortable she felt deep down. Her son was v
