Chapter 5

Author: Snowlit Wings
Those things left behind by Henry weren't anything special. They were mostly items Jasmine had given Henry in the past, and since Henry didn't want to bring them with him, he decided to just return them to Jasmine.

There was also a medical report among the items. Jasmine stared at the name on the document, but the longer she looked, the more unfamiliar it seemed, as though she could no longer understand what she was reading.

She suddenly grabbed Jesse and asked, "When was this?"

Jesse replied

I shoved Jasmine aside, my hand dropping to my side while trembling slightly. "It would be preferable if you claimed you never loved me, Jasmine. It would be far better than being so utterly sickening."Jasmine hurriedly tried to grab my hand. "I'm so sorry, Henry! I truly realize my mistake now! I swear I'll change for the better! I'll treat you well from now on! I've already warned them, so nobody will dare treat you poorly from now on. "I'll even cut ties with Patrick. I really just see him as a younger brother. I didn't dare to do anything drastic since he had constantly threatened to commit suicide in the past."Jasmine's voice softened, as if a nerve had been touched. "I also read your diary. I'm willing to have a child with you, so let's live happily as a family, Henry."I pushed Jasmine away. "You ought to know that the world doesn't just revolve around what you want, Jasmine. There is no way I'm getting back together with you. "I've been telling myself I was waiting for

It wasn't long before everyone around me found out that I had gotten a divorce."You're divorced, Henry? You should be free to join me for a meal, then, right?"I was left somewhat dazed when I saw Sophie Luther's message. She was someone I had grown up with since I was young, and later, when I fell in love with Jasmine, Sophie was always critical of her and couldn't find a single nice thing to say about her.Sophie actually showed up drunk on the night before I left for Harborough to get married and spoke incoherently for quite some time. She then pulled at my sleeve to hold me back just as I was leaving. She was hunched over just as I turned around, hiding her expression. "Is it impossible for you to stay, Henry? Do you actually want to marry her and go to a place that far away by yourself? She doesn't even treat you well. I like you, Henry, so marry me instead. I swear I'll treat you well for the rest of my life."I had no further contact with Sophie afterward to avoid any misu

Henry's POVI returned home unexpectedly. I wasn't sure if it was a case of parents and children sharing a telepathic bond, but they didn't pry at all.I had no idea how to bring up my married life from the past few years. I had been living so far away from Mom and Dad for the past few years, so I had always lied and said I was doing great. If I were to tell the truth, what I actually dreaded was witnessing the heartache in their eyes.I was gradually getting back on track with my past and new career. I just never thought Jasmine would suddenly show up at my place.Mom and Dad brought Jasmine over to face me. They assumed Jasmine and I had just had a lovers' quarrel, believing that the perfect opportunity to make amends had just presented itself."Jasmine is here, Henry! You ought to know that the most important thing for a couple is good communication. Do you remember what you told me before? "You said you had chosen Jasmine and would definitely work hard on your marriage, and

It was the dead of night, and the house was completely dark, save for a few slivers of moonlight filtering inside. Jasmine had stopped the maid from coming over during this time, fearing that having people around would wash away the faint traces of Henry, who used to be there.Yet, the light that had always been left on for her was still gone.In the kitchen, the handwritten notes on how to cook Jasmine's favorite dishes were missing, and the flowers placed around the house, missing the careful hand that once tended them, had begun to wither.Jasmine looked at the spot where that pair of ceramic vases had been, now empty. She felt as though a piece of her own heart had been carved out, leaving behind a dull, lingering pain.It was even more noticeable in the bedroom, where the walk-in closet was entirely bare, save for her clothes hanging in the empty space. There used to be a small stuffed doll on the bed. Jasmine remembered how, in the past, Henry would hold that doll and wave i

Jasmine became a lot quieter than usual, and everyone around her noticed it to some degree. Patrick's suicide drama, on the other hand, eventually came to an end and was never brought up again.Jasmine returned home for dinner, and her parents' expressions weren't very pleasant. Fiona glared out of the corners of her eyes and said, "You've been spending so much time with a man from a low-class background that you've even lost your manners, Jasmine. What kind of nonsense was that on the phone the other day? You should have gotten that divorce long ago, Jasmine!"He has no manners, no decency, and he buzzes around you all day like a useless loser with nothing better to do. He even embarrassed Patrick in public. If it weren't for the need to save Patrick, I would never have let a man like that step into this house."Jasmine's hand tightened into a fist and then opened again. She then laughed coldly, staring directly into Fiona's eyes. "You're one to talk about class, Mom. You adopt
