EVELYN
Sean's eyes were on me from the moment we left his apartment till we got to the club. I wouldn't say particularly that I was nervous but it made me feel a lil bit uncomfortable. I mean it's been so long as he had almost rightly said, nine years to be exact. He should have moved on for real. "Has Sean ever had a girlfriend?" I could not stop myself from asking Ava when Sean and Blake went to the bar to get us drinks. "Yeah, dated three times but with none currently." I heaved a sigh. "Ohh, that's fair. Thought he has been single since...you know, highschool and stuff." He had asked me to be his girlfriend three weeks before prom. I accepted, no doubt, but broke things off after prom night. I had felt that was the best thing to do instead of leading him on. "Men that think with their dicks," Ava scoffed . "Probably tired of jerking off and decided to get himself some pussy. I don't want to weird you out but they all did look like you." "I'm damn sure weirded out," I only do hope it hasn't turned to obsession. "Does he know that Rafe and I ended things?" "No, he doesn't. But he's aware of your engagement to Rafe," she took hold of my hands, "I'm sorry I brought you to his house first. My aunt would be back by next two weeks so we can move to her place soon." "It's fine, Ava. Guess I have to find myself a job as soon as possible." And a fake engagement ring too to keep Sean away. Sean and Blake returned with our drinks. "This is for you, Ava." Blake passed her a glass of margarita. "And, here, Eve. I know you hate alcohol." Sean said with a smile as he dropped a glass of fruit punch in front of me. "You're so wrong." I laughed nervously. He was right though but I wasn't going to give him that satisfaction. "Since when?" He raised one of his eyebrows. I grabbed his mug and took a full gulp of the beer inside. I forced a smile on my face even though my inside cheeks were slapping really hard. "Here, see, all good." "I'm in shock." Sean stood, giving me a close look, his arms folded. "I'm not the same highschool Evelyn." 'Hold it in, Eve.' I said to myself. My stomach was moving funny like I was about throwing up. "Stop with the boring talk, guys. Let's go to the dance floor." Ava said, taking my hand first. "You can join us later." She said to her brother and her fuck buddy. "Ava, slow down. You're going to make me vomit." I held her hand tightly as she rushed to the dance floor. "What was that for?" "It's..." "Hey!" Someone said from behind, close to me actually. I turned and was stunned to see a Chiseled Perfection in Suit. Yes, he deserved the initial capitals. His eyes on me did something to my insides, something slippery, something wet. Christ! I thought Rafe was the only one who had such power on me. I've never felt so wrong. Nah, it should be the alcohol. It has to. I was shocked when he asked for a dance. Why will a man carved in marble want to even speak to me, not to talk of dancing with me. I wasn't that pretty, come on. I could tell his accent was English from the few words he said to me. 'Evelyn, stop keeping the handsome man waiting, take his hand already.' The moment I placed my hand in his... "It's time to go." Sean said, coming out of nowhere. What a bummer! I thought. "Now? We haven't started dancing." Ava countered. "Blake and I have got an assignment to submit in the next one hour. We have to leave right now." "All of a sudden?" That question came from Ava. "I'm sorry. I'm...g...going...home." Shit! I have never stuttered this bad in my life. This was embarrassing. "It's fine. It was nice meeting you." He gave my hand a gentle squeeze before taking his leave. My goodness. What a breath of fresh cologne. He smelled expensive. He smelled wealth. I didn't notice the scowl on Sean's face till I looked at him. He was staring so hard at the back of the beautiful stranger I was supposed to dance with. "What the fuck are you looking at? You spoiled our fun, now you're looking lost. Tsk," Ava hissed. "Next time, Eve, we would be coming alone." "It's okay, Ava. I'm feeling tired anyways. We have enough time to party later." During our ride home, Ava tapped me on my knee. "That man is so hot, like damn!" "Who?" I obviously knew who she was talking about. "The one who asked you for a dance..." "Ohh, I've totally forgotten about him." Filthy liar. I haven't recovered from his eyes, his scent, his touch. "That fast?" "Yeah, can't even remember his face. He's a stranger..." "A serial killer or stalker, maybe." Sean chipped in making Blake laugh. "Oh please, Sean. It's diabolical to compare that man to the likes of Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer." "I've said my own, Ava. You both have to be careful around here especially towards male strangers. Morever, didn't you say earlier today that Eve isn't single?" "And so? That doesn't stop her from exploring more options." One thing about Ava and Sean was that they love to argue. And I wasn't in the mood to stop any of them. I dug my fingers into my purse. Thank goodness I was with my air pods. I clicked on one random song, then plugged in my air pods. Why the hell does this song relate so much to my current situation? I briefly glanced dat my phone screen - Prisoner by Miley Cyrus featuring Dua Lipa. 'Prisoner, Prisoner Locked up, can't get you off my mind, of my mind Lord knows I tried a million times, million times, oh woah Why can't you, why can't you just let me go?' I hummed the song quietly till we got home. What an epic way to end my first night in Ireland.KILLIAN Today was going to be my last day with Eve.Last night, after I did say I love you back and I saw tears in her eyes, I have never felt so bad in a long while. After she had come out the bathroom with her face pale, and then she tried to cover it up with a smile, God, the very worst. This morning, she was back to making me breakfast and being her normal self. On my way to my office, my mind drifted to what my life would be without Eve by tomorrow. No laughs,No sex,No love.My life would go back to being empty before I met her, extreme loneliness. I wasn't even thinking of another woman that would replace her.Eve was irreplaceable. My previous companions, by the time I was getting towards the end of our relationships, I start getting bored, my eyes start to wander for someone new.It was never like that with Eve. Bored around Eve? Impossible. She was the light of the room. These three and half months with her were my happiest. After work each day, I look forward to coming b
EVELYN 'He doesn't love me.' These four words kept echoing in my head the second he mentioned our contract. I was able to get into the bathroom before he could catch up with me."Eve,"I heard him say my name as I bolted the door immediately."Eve, please."Not wanting to hear his voice, I turned both the tap and the shower on, letting the sound fill my ears. Then, I pressed my hands to the sink, staring hard at the porcelain, trying to hold it together. But no, this was too much. The tears came down fast, getting my vision blurred. My throat tightened as I wiped the flood on my face, but it seemed to get worse.Leaving the sink, I leaned on the wall, my back and butt cheeks shivering from the sheer coldness of the tiled wall.A sob escaped from my lips as I put my hands on my mouth to stop it, but more came.Ohh, it hurt so, so bad.His mom was very wrong...The blind couldn't see shit...Every speculation, every thought...even my subconscious.... everyfuckingbody was giving me fa
KILLIAN Ten trips. Two cities. Two different people. One heart.Today was over which meant I had one full day with Eve before she leaves for Toronto next tomorrow. After the choking incident, I chose not feeling sad in front of Eve about losing her. She was very observant and would ask what was wrong. On our way home, she sang all through. I even had to tease her with her voice was bad and she increased her pitch to the loudest."I'm sorry, babe," I laughed while apologizing to her. We were in front of the hotel where my penthouse was. "You've got the most amazing voice.""Now you know," she gave me a weird look. "I was the lead singer for my high school choir back then.""Oh really? That's... interesting." I said with a lying tone of sarcasm."I hope you're not being sarcastic," she narrowed her eyes at me."Why will I be?" "You haven't heard my loudest voice yet.""Would love be to hear it only when you're screaming my name while I'm inside you." I lowered my voice as I spoke."Ca
KILLIAN "Have you told her yet?" Alex called to remind me of what we had earlier discussed. When I had mentioned to him that Eve would be leaving on the 15th, same day our contract was going to expire, he has been on my neck to use the L word. He was the next biggest supporter of Eve and I after my mom."I will, today." Unfailingly. I already got a whole speech in my head. After saying I love you to her, I would also ask her to be my real girlfriend this time.Today was 13th February, making it two more days till my contract with Eve comes to an end. "Good luck, brother.""Thank you." Eve steeped out of the bathroom with her bra and panties. I fixed my eyes on her as she walked to the closet."Can't believe Killian Grey has finally melted for someone. You seemed unmeltable, wanted to even get to number fifty. Now see, your number fifteen got your head, dick and heart." Alex chuckled. I was certain that he would keep taunting me with this until God knows when."I've heard you. You n
EVELYN "Happy birthday, Mom." I wished my mom on her special day, today being the sixth of February. "Thank you for being my number one person, my rock and support, my best friend. I hope today brings your more happiness, more joy as you have given me all my life. I love you so much, Mom.""Awww," I could hear sniffles from her. "Thank you, sweetheart. You're my number one source of joy and happiness. If you hadn't come into my life, I..." "Mom, please don't cry or I will cry too.""Fine, sweetheart, I will stop." "Fifteenth isn't faraway, Mom. I'm be back in less than two weeks."That is nine more days with the man I wasn't supposed to fall in love with. As time went on, my feelings for him grew stronger and stronger.'Why don't you tell him?' A voice in my head adviced. He might feel the same way which automatically cancels the contract because we would be looking forward to a real relationship.'What if he doesn't feel the same way?' A different voice quietly chipped in. It woul
EVELYN It has been one happy week with The Grays. I was super nervous when Killian told me we would be staying for a while with his family, but on spending time with them, I've never felt so comfortable around new faces. They weren't so judgy as I had thought or giving me those weird eyes. His mother automatically became my best person among his folks. Ahh, his Nana too, such a vibe. How could I forget his hot sister, Maria, still maintaining beauty while pregnant. Her husband should be one of the luckiest men alive. And Gia, Alex's wife, was an amazing person as well. Then his nephews, those lively little boys. Though they took Rio's attention from me, I still love them. And the cute little baby, Gia's baby boy, each time I carried him in my arms or by merely looking at him, I start craving for mine, more like having baby fever. His dad and brother were also really cool people. From the onset, I knew they wouldn't be a problem. It was the women who kind of bothered me, but I was w
