Chapter 1

Author: Clear Dreams
I packed my bags and walked out into the living room.

Out in the yard, Leonardo was wrapping his arms around Gia, his face full of concern.

Just half an hour ago, Gia was sobbing uncontrollably in the house, threatening to slit her wrists. But right now, Leonardo had already coaxed her back to smiles and laughter.

I’d seen this ridiculous scene play out countless times before. Yet every single time, I still felt completely dazed and baffled.

I wondered how the girl who had just been screaming, smashing wine bottles, and pressing broken glass to her throat and wrists could be the same Gia standing there now.

I pulled my eyes away and dragged my suitcase toward the front door.

Actually, today was our third wedding anniversary—that is, if you counted from the very first time Leonardo and I exchanged rings. However, over these past three years, we’d spent most of our time toggling between divorce and remarriage.

In fact, our latest remarriage was barely a month ago. The rest of the family even mocked me behind my back, calling me "the wandering Donna of Siciliana".

Seeing me walk toward the exit with my luggage, completely expressionless, Gia let out a triumphant smile. Then, she immediately pouted, turning to Leonardo with a deeply aggrieved look.

"How did it happen so fast this time? Leonardo, you guys aren't lying to me, are you? Did you actually get divorced, or are you just putting on a show for me?!

"Is Bianca forcing you not to divorce her? I knew it! She wants me dead so she can have you all to herself! Fine, then I'll just go die!"

Gia made a move to throw herself into the courtyard pool.

Leonardo didn't even have time to worry about my feelings. He instantly pulled Gia tight into his chest to stop her from doing anything extreme.

Then, he pulled the divorce papers from his suit pocket and comforted her in a soft, gentle voice.

"The divorce papers are right here, already stamped and sealed. How could I lie to you?"

At this moment, Leonardo only had eyes for Gia. He didn't even bother to give me a single glance.

In that instant, everything suddenly became crystal clear to me. Even if Leonardo and I remarried a hundred or a thousand times, I would never be as important to him as Gia was.

Gia stared at the divorce papers, stamped with the Corleone family's wax seal, and a grin broke out on her face.

Right in front of me, without any hesitation, she planted a kiss on Leonardo's cheek.

"Leonardo, I knew you were the best to me!"

From an angle where Leonardo couldn't see, Gia shot me a smug glance, her eyes filled with total contempt. Even though I knew she was deliberately provoking me, I still couldn't stop the anger from rising inside me.

The reason for Gia's breakdown this time was simply because she found out about the third anniversary gift Leonardo had prepared for me in advance.

Since Leonardo felt guilty toward me, he had specially sourced a rare blue diamond and made it into a brooch. When Gia found out, she flew into a jealous rage and staged her eighth suicide threat.

Earlier that day, when we’d gone to see Luca to draft the divorce papers, the lawyer hadn't even blinked. He’d simply shrugged, looking completely helpless.

"Miss Bianca, as the Corleone family's personal lawyer, I've handled fewer divorces in my entire career than I have for you alone."

I’d flashed a bitter smile. "I'm guessing it's a first in the family's history."

Leonardo had snapped. He slammed his hand onto the desk, his expression darkening.

"Bianca and I can divorce whenever we want and marry whenever we want. It's not your place to run your mouth.

"If I hear anyone talking about this again, don't blame me for turning on you."

"Leonardo! What did you just say?!"Gia shrieked as she lunged in front of Leonardo, throwing herself into his arms."You're sending me away to Chesterford? You're going to abandon me for this woman?!"You can't leave me! I won't let you leave me!"I instinctively furrowed my brow. Gia's state seemed completely unstable, far beyond her usual tantrums.Enraged at having his desperate plea interrupted, Leonardo shoved her off with brutal force, roaring in her face."Gia! Haven't you had enough? Do you have any idea that Bianca is cutting ties with me for good?!"Because of your absurd, endless demands, I've already ruined my marriage eight times! When on earth are you going to let me go?"Gia was thrown onto the ground. She tilted her face up, a terrifying, unhinged smile spreading across her lips."Let you go? Leonardo, my father gave his life to save yours! Your whole life belongs to me!"It's great if she won't marry you. I'll marry you instead!"The words burst out of Gia'

"Lorenzo! Are you okay?""I'm fine. A weak punch like that is nothing," Lorenzo said, flashing a reassuring smile even as blood welled in his mouth.I spun on my heel, glaring fiercely at Leonardo."Have you completely lost your mind, Leonardo?! What gives you the right to show up here and lay hands on my people?!"Leonardo froze in his tracks, his body trembling slightly from a mix of rage and utter disbelief. Seeing the way I threw myself in front of Lorenzo to protect him, the sheer bitterness and grievance in his eyes nearly boiled over."Bianca... I was trying to protect you!"Look at yourself, Bianca! You're exhausted. He's controlling you, isn't he?!"He's poisoning your mind! You would never talk to me like this on your own!"A cold laugh bubbled up in my chest from pure rage. Now he decides he wants to protect me? Where was that protective drive when Gia was tormenting and humiliating me? Back then, he was nothing more than Gia's willing accomplice."The best way y

The phone rang again, and this time I answered."Bianca! Where on earth are you? Why haven't you been replying to my messages?!"Leonardo's voice sounded on the verge of a total breakdown."And Lorenzo... what the hell is he to you?"It seemed he had finally dug up Lorenzo's identity: the underboss of the Greco family, my father's trusted right-hand man, and my adopted brother.Hearing his tone, which reeked of someone accusing their spouse of cheating, I felt an unprecedented wave of satisfaction.Dirty-minded people see dirt in everything. Just like how he knew deep down that his dynamic with Gia was blurred and toxic, he couldn't help but assume Lorenzo and I had something unnatural going on, too."What Lorenzo and I do is none of your concern, Leonardo. Don't forget that we're divorced."Even if I had ten men lined up outside my door, that is my right as a single woman. You don't get to interrogate me anymore.""Or what, is it only okay for you and Gia to have your littl

Leonardo froze in place, confusion and helplessness filling his eyes."Bianca, what are you talking about? How could I be an outsider? I'm your husband!"I let out a self-deprecating laugh, pulling open the car door and sliding inside."Leonardo, don't forget we got divorced today. You're not my husband anymore."Just as the engine roared to life, Leonardo lunged wildly in front of the car."No, that's not how it is! Bianca! Get out of the car and let me explain!"This time is just like the previous seven times. We'll remarry again very soon!"He slammed his hands against the car window, desperate. Meanwhile, Gia, who had been trailing behind him with tears in her eyes, tugged at his arm."Leonardo... my head's spinning, and I think my nose is bleeding. Can you take me to the hospital, please?"Just leave that woman alone. Let her leave with whoever she wants!"Leonardo's footsteps faltered, and he instinctively reached out to steady Gia.He looked down at the crying Gia, th

I yanked my hand out of his grip and stared calmly at Leonardo."It means nothing except that from now on, whether you guys want to eat or play around with suicide, I'm done playing along."Leonardo tried to step toward me, but Lorenzo took a swift step forward, blocking his path entirely."It seems Don Leonardo has no idea how to value a rare diamond."He slipped off his suit jacket and draped it over my shivering shoulders, a rare flicker of sympathy softening his usual icy expression."If you were suffering like this, Bianca, you should have called home months ago.""Bianca, you need to remember that the entire Greco family has your back. Anyone who dares lay a finger on you, I'll send them to feed the fish at the bottom of the sea."A sudden wave of warmth washed over my heart. Lorenzo's words were meant less for me and more as a blatant warning aimed straight at Leonardo. He was still protecting me, just like he used to when we were kids."Let's go. The car is waiting out

  • No Turning Back   Chapter 4

The last spark of hope deep inside my heart finally died out.I raised my head and looked at Leonardo, my expression completely flat. "If that's the case, then just kick me out."Leonardo's body shuddered violently. He lowered his gaze, taking me in.The swollen red bruise on my forehead was a horrifying sight, and several tiny droplets of blood were still oozing from the pinpricks on my arm. As for my toes, they were rubbed raw from running all that distance, leaving faint smears of blood on the cold marble floor. In those eyes of his that usually held nothing but cold, decisive authority, a flicker of panic actually surfaced."Bianca..." he began, his voice slightly raspy. But almost immediately, he forced that guilt back down. He grabbed my wrist roughly and hauled me straight into the bedroom. The door slammed shut, finally leaving just the two of us."Bianca, look at yourself! What kind of behavior is this?!" He exhaled heavily, his tone dripping with exhaustion and di
