Celeste’s POV

“Grace, you’re a lifesaver.” I said breathlessly as I ducked into her office nearly two hours late for work.

She looked up from her desktop with a warm smile. “After all the overtime you’ve put in recently, I’m happy to deliver an order for you.”

“I owe you one,” I said, slipping off my coat. “Did Julie like it?”

Grace tapped a finger on her chin. “Oh, she wasn’t home, so I had to leave her order with the butler. But with your skill, Celeste, I’m sure she’ll love it.”

She gave me an encouraging smile, but my stomach twisted.

“A butler?” I echoed. “Shouldn’t a bespoke necklace worth five figures garner a personal touch? Julie is a referral from Celine Mars, so a shining review would really boost business.”

Grace chewed on her lip, brows furrowing.

“Damn it, Celeste. You’re right.” She looked down at her keyboard, shoulders slumped. “I wanted to wait for Julie, but I had an important meeting with another client I couldn’t miss, and piles of paperwork to get through.”

Vanessa’s POV“Thank you for bringing this to my attention, Vanessa,” Maximilian said as he rose from his seat. “I’d appreciate it if you could keep your discovery of this misconduct to yourself while I deliberate over it.”“No need t—”I was clambering out of my seat when a sharp pain pierced my abdomen. He lurched forward, steadying me as I swayed. “Is it the, erm, the gestational micro…” he trailed off, clearing his throat. “Is the baby alright?”It took me a moment to realize he was talking about the disorder I made up when he ‘hit’ me with his car. Doubled over in pain, I wished I were only pretending. I shook my head, wincing as I straightened. “I think the stress of losing my job and being threatened with imprisonment got to me.”He threw a disapproving look at his daughter-in-law.“You don’t need to worry about any of that, Vanessa. Your job is safe.”I smiled, grateful tears gleaming in my eyes when all I wanted was to shoot Vivian a smirk.“Thank you, Maximilian. I can’t te

Vanessa’s POVMaximilian’s office fell into dead silence. My heart raced as I mentally went over the paper trail I created of Vivian approving diamond shipments from suppliers that didn’t exist. I’d backdated them so no one would suspect I was involved. The tricky part was moving the money into an offshore account in Steven’s name. I had to hire expensive outside help to get that right, but if this works, it’ll be worth every cent.Loud, uncontrollable laughter shattered the silence. Vivian hunched over in her seat as if she were watching a comedy skit from the front row.“Blood diamonds? How absurd!” She said, struggling to catch her breath.I stared at her with my features schooled in wide-eyed shock until Maximillion ran out of patience.“Enough!” he bellowed, nostrils flaring. “Is this a joke to you?”Vivian flinched, all humor falling from her face.“What else could it be besides a joke?” She asked, voice level and hard. “I brought you irrefutable evidence proving that Vanessa’s

Vanessa’s POVI smiled sweetly at Maximilian’s secretary as I walked into his office. When she closed the doors behind me, I turned to see Vivian waiting on an armchair in his seating area.My smile didn’t falter as I rolled my eyes internally. This bitch was always trying to get me in trouble with the CEO. When was she going to learn she could never beat me?“Ah, Vanessa, I appreciate you coming on such short notice.” Maximilian said, offering me a seat. “Please forgive me for pulling you away from your work.”I sat politely, resting a hand on my belly.“Oh, no apologies necessary.” I waved him away with a friendly shake of the head. “You know you can call me anytime, Maximilian.”He smiled beneath his beard and tilted his head at his daughter-in-law. Vivian had been watching us with a face of stone.“I wanted to share some information I discovered with Mr. Edwards, and he thought it was only proper to have you join us.” She said, her tone clipped.Ugh, I was so sick of this hag. “N

Celeste’s POVRachel stood at the head of the conference table, wringing her hands as she waited for everyone to settle down. Her anxious movement didn't help my nerves as I eyed the busts lined up before her.Hands clasped in my lap, I resisted the urge to rip off the cloth that hid the displays.I’d spent hours painstakingly designing each piece for this new line. They had to show my unique style while still having mass appeal. Now it was time to see if that work had paid off.“Are we all here? Good.” I turned to Rachel, smiling though impatient. “Please don’t keep us in suspense any longer.”The bench jeweler lifted the cloth, and my heart swelled with pride and gratitude. After falling pregnant with Bonnie, I’d given up on my dreams of being a jewelry designer. But now the twelve pieces I’d created for my first mass-produced line glimmered before us.It felt like I was living a dream.“Oh. My. Gosh.” Jenny breathed in awe. “It’s going to be such a hit!”I bit my lip as I turned to

Damien’s POVMy foot tapped restlessly as I waited for Mr. Brown in the clubhouse. More than an hour had passed since we were scheduled to meet, and I was ready to hunt down a waiter. It wasn’t even noon, but I needed a goddamn brandy. How low had I fallen that an old geezer like Henry Brown had the gall to keep me waiting?“Ah, Mr. Kent, you’ll forgive the delay—our session went on longer than I expected.” A condescending voice called out from the crowd of men in collared polo shirts. I watched Mr. Brown break from the group, casually removing a golf glove as he approached my table.“Though I suppose your calendar’s been rather open lately, hasn’t it?” he asked, chuckling at his own jibe.My fists trembled on my lap as I contained my fury.I was Damien fucking Kent—he had no right to mock me. The moment I was back in power at my company, I’d get him thrown off the board of directors.“I assure you my time wasn’t spent idly. See for yourself.” I slid a tablet across the table as he s

Damien’s POVMy instinct was to shout, but I forced my mouth shut.I watched expressionlessly as Bonnie’s fist tightened on the toothpaste tube and she squeezed it all over the bathroom counter. I stepped back as she screamed at the top of her lungs. “I said I don’t wanna brush my teeth! You do it!” I ignored her tears and hysterics, as hard as it was. The heavy stack of parenting books I’d been reading in my downtime made it embarrassingly clear that I was doing everything wrong. My princess was spoiled, and it was my fault.“I understand that you’re frustrated, Bonnie, but we can’t talk about it if you’re screaming.” I said calmly. “Why don’t you try taking a few deep breaths with Daddy so we can calm down?”I took a few slow, deep breaths, exaggerating the movements. A smile touched my lips when Bonnie mimicked me. Once she’d stopped hiccupping and seemed calm, I crouched down to her level and wiped her tears away.“Do you feel better now, Bon-Bon?” I asked gently. She nodded wit
