Chapter 4

Katherine

Do you know how it feels to be a spectator in a theatre, watching a movie but having absolutely no control over what is happening? That was exactly what was unfolding in the villa as I turned around from where Clara had fallen to the ground to see Conrad looking at us with wide eyes from where he was standing at the entrance.

Like something out of a movie, Conrad rushed towards us, pushing me aside as he helped Clara who was pretending to be really hurt as she wiped tears from her face, to her feet.

Touching her cheeks gently, he looked into her eyes with panic and love. Love that was missing anytime he looked at me and from the way he touched her body with familiarity, I had no doubt that they were seeing each other in secret, a truth that made me feel like a knife was being squeezed into my heart.

"Are you alright? Did she hurt you?" Conrad asked her and when Clara shrugged, still wiping at her eyes, he patted her hair gently and helped her to dust her clothes.

"I don't know what I did to her that made her push me." Clara lied, her sniffles becoming even more atrocious because I knew she was pretending.

Conrad looked at me, his eyes blazing hot with anger and Nina, my wolf tried to calm me down but when she saw that I was going to be the one yet again on the receiving end of hate because of another woman, she felt depressed.

She told me that Conrad misunderstood the situation and I answered my innocent loyal wolf that it was not the first time. It was not the first time that Conrad was choosing someone else over her. He always chose everyone else but her. He never took her side. It was heartbreaking to watch.

Holding Clara's hand, he frowned at me.

"Apologize to her right now, Katherine." He yelled, his tone vicious and yet it moved nothing in me. I could not believe that at one point, I would be shaken when Conrad yelled at me and would cry for hours. Now I was as hard as ice.

I just stood there in silence, the exact same way I had been standing since Clara played this game with me. And when I realized that I could not take this display of solidarity and support that my husband was busy displaying for his lover, I turned around to leave.

"Stop right there." Conrad roared with his Alpha's voice.

The voice was a very potent instrument that made wolves bend to do their Alpha's bidding.

But the only thing that happened when he screamed at me was the scoff that came from my mouth as I turned back to look at him.

"You really still think you're my Alpha, don't you?" How about this? Since we are already divorced, you are no longer my Alpha. Does that make sense to you and your tramp?"

Clara's eyes widened as she looked taken aback by my words and I didn't care one bit as her crocodile tears ran down her face. On the other hand, I realized that there was nothing else that I had to lose and crossing the distance between us, I slapped Clara hard across the face.

Her mouth fell open in a gasp and Conrad's eyes darkened as he pushed me to the ground.

"How dare you?" He roared as he bent to look at me and I finally snapped. All that control that I kept in place. That I kept an iron clad hand on finally snapped into pieces.

Bringing my phone out from my pocket, I shoved it in to his hand, ready to damn the consequences of whatever was going to happen after I revealed the truth because whether or not he believed me, I was done with the marriage and I knew that there was nothing that could save this marriage anymore.

"I would like you to check that phone and see for yourself who it was that drugged you last night." I yelled and when his brows furrowed in confusion and doubt, I laughed even though it was bitter and lacked any trait of joy.

Clearing my throat, I rose to my feet and dusted my body, ready to continue.

"After the quarrel in the morning, I mind linked one of the warriors to investigate the source of your being drugged and do you know what? It turns out that it is your beloved angel, your lover Clara that you met last night before you even met with me. And she was the one that put something inside your glass. She then asked your driver to send you to the pack hotel instead of home to me but what she did not know, what she had no idea about was that the driver was loyal to me. So he brought you back home instead of to the pack hotel. Read everything there. Everything is written right now." I screamed, panting when I was done but feeling relieved that I had said my truth.

Clara on the other hand looked so pale, like all the blood had been drained from her face and she glared at me.

"You're a motherfucking bloody liar!" She screamed, her hands shaking at her side as she walked towards where Conrad was now standing and took his hand.

"Don't mind her. She's lying." She cried and shook like a leaf but Conrad looked speechless. He opened his mouth to say something but could not as his eyes finally landed on mine.

Grabbing my phone from his hand, I dusted my clothes and growled at Clara, which shut her up immediately because at the end of the day, I had the blood of an Alpha running through my veins.

"I don't care if you believe me or your little lover. But this is my parting gift to you, Conrad. Do with the information whatever you wish."

Turning around, I headed upstairs to the bedroom to pack my things but as I climbed the first step, I looked back to see the two of them watching me.

Conrad looked like he had no idea what to say to me while Clara looked like she wanted the ground to swallow her.

Good.

She would finally understand how everyone of them in this pack made me feel.

My wolf praised me for doing a good job and I sighed, fighting back tears because she supported my decision even though it was the most difficult thing to ever do. Because I had never thought in my wildest dreams that I would give up on my mate.

My face was cold as I locked eyes with Conrad again and my hands tightened into fists.

"This will probably be the last time you see me as your wife. The next time we will meet, even though I would rather eat broken glass than see you, it will be as strangers. You don't deserve me. Not your pack. Not your family and certainly not you, most of all. I hope that you find whatever you are looking for."

And I walked away.
