Carlos' Pov

I went back home after rejecting the human girl. How could I accept such a weakling as my mate? I think the Moon goddess made a terrible mistake in pairing me with her.

As I moved closer to the palace, I felt my heart about to explode from the pain of the mating bond. Nevertheless, I was glad I had cut off every attachment with her.

I got to my chamber and lay on my bed, trying to put off whatever lingering emotions I was having for Nora. She wasn't worth my thoughts.

If only her parents weren't the beta of the kingdom and her brother was my best friend, I would have kicked her out of the kingdom as soon as I found out she was human.

Why would my father let a human live among us?

“ You are my mate!"

Her words echoed in my ears over and over again. Her broken eyes and shattered emotions tugging at my own heart. I swore it had taken me all my willpower to reject her.

There was something trying to stop me.

Furthermore, It was strange she could feel the mating bond when she wasn't even a werewolf. I wonder if it was possible for a human to feel bonded just like werewolves.

Different thoughts kept running through my head yet I couldn't find answers to any of my hidden questions.

I was growing restless, lying in my chamber. I needed to leave the chambers for fresh air. So, I got out and went toward the palace garden with a heavy knot around my heart.

“ Carl…” I heard my name behind me.

Aria Davis, my childhood friend and the only daughter of Alpha Gregory walked toward me with a bewitching smile, her eyes filled with lust. I began to question the moon goddess on why she didn't pair me with Aria instead of that human girl.

Even if I had no feelings towards Aria, at least, she was stronger and a werewolf too.

“ What are you doing here?" I questioned, walking toward the palace gate.

“ Can't I pay a visit-"

“ Not now, Aria. I don't have time to chit chat-"

“ I just need a favor from you," she cuts me off, walking toward me. She leaned toward me and whispered into my ears.

I frowned at her request, yet, I wanted some time alone so I quickly granted her what she wanted before walking away. After all, what she wanted wasn't of any significance to me anymore.

As soon as Aria went away, I walked back to my room to try and sleep the thoughts away. Perhaps in the morning when I had to face her again, I will no longer feel guilty.

I just need to act quickly.

***

A bang on my door and the scent of Justin woke me up from my deep slumber filled with nightmares of Aria. I was relieved to be woken up yet angered at the intrusion.

“ Stop banging, moron!" I breathe out, frustratingly.

The door was pushed open as soon as I answered and the worried face of Justin got me on my feet. It couldn't be the rogues attack again, right?

“ Are we having rogues-"

“ My sister is missing! We can't find her anywhere!" Justin said, biting his lower lips. He does that often when he feels extremely agitated.

“ Nora? Is she not at the cl-” I remembered at that time that only two of us knew about her being with me earlier.

I cleared my throat as Justin's anxious eyes looked up at me. I could see he was expecting to hear more of my question.

" I mean, isn't she at the house or perhaps the ceremony?” I rephrased my question as I dodged his eyes.

A long sigh escaped his mouth as he dragged me along with him. My heart did a total banging of guiltiness as I began to pray that Nora shouldn't tell them anything.

" If she was at home, I wouldn't be running my legs all around the pack looking for her, Carlos,” he said, scowling at me.

Yeah, that's true. And it's a stupid question from my side. I tend to lose my composure whenever I feel guilty. Luckily, no one had observed this.

Then I heard him say the next words.

" My sister- she heard my parents talking about the secret of origin,” he said, sighing as we walked out of the palace.

I stopped in my tracks, holding him back.

“ She knows she isn't a werewolf? I asked, my thoughts racing differently.

“ Yes. She heard about it and she ran out of the house, crying. My parents have been blaming themselves all night long. We have been searching for her for the past four hours. We need to go to the border and continue searching for her scent. Let's see if she left the pack," he replied.

Was I asleep all those while? If she left the pack already, I was sure the border guards would have stopped her.

“ She also said that she was rejected by her mate. I am sure she is heartbroken and might have…” he said, biting his lips. Then he added with a cold glint." Let's just hope she is fine."

We made our way towards the border where the other guards were waiting. Justin told me some of the guards have been sent to the Cliff and surrounding mountains. Hopefully, they will find a clue.

My mind was in shambles. If she knew she was truly a human, was it possible for her to take a drastic step towards leaving the pack? It would be best if she leaves peacefully without telling anyone she was my mate.

At least, I could still keep Justin as my best friend. Just then, I got a mindlink from one of the guards stationed around the cliff. I turn to look at Justin who had disbelief all over his face.

“ It can't be true!" He said, changing into his wolf form as he raced toward the cliff.

I stood rooted for more than five minutes, lost in my thoughts and with each passing second, my heart received piercing pains all over. Lost in the hurtful words I had told Nora earlier. I also agreed with Justin.

It wasn't true.

  • Nora: Rejected Lost Princess    Suspicious Attack

Nora’s POV“One of our scouts has gone missing,” he reported, his voice low, his eyes flicking nervously toward Carlos. “We suspect Griffin’s pack is involved.”The weight of those words settled heavily over the entire pack. The ceremony came to an end, earlier than we had thought. What we thought was the best moment turned into something else. I didn’t know how to feel about the whole news. It was heartbreaking, and at the same time, it was shocking. Not just that, but the fact that it had to come in at the happy time. From that night onward, the borders were doubled with guards, and every howl in the distance made my heart leap into my throat. Carlos stayed on high alert, his every move sharp, his jaw always clenched with suppressed worry. For days, the air hung thick with dread. We waited—for an attack, for a sign, for anything. But after two weeks of silence, nothing came.Life in the pack slowly resumed its rhythm. Children ran through the courtyards again, merchants reopened

  • Nora: Rejected Lost Princess    Moonlight Encounter

Carlos POVThe party had finally died down, laughter and music fading into echoes in the halls. I had sent Zach and Zoey to bed with the promise of another round of stories tomorrow, but I couldn’t sleep. My thoughts were filled with Nora—her laughter, the way her eyes lit up when the twins shouted “Surprise,” the way she looked at me as if for the first time.I found her in the garden again, seated on the stone bench beneath the tall avocado tree. The moonlight washed over her face, softening every sharp edge, making her look almost ethereal. She didn’t notice me at first, and I stood there for a moment, taking her in, before finally stepping forward.“You’ll catch a cold sitting out here this late,” I said softly. Her head turned, and a small smile tugged at her lips. “I could say the same about you, Alpha.”“Carlos,” I corrected gently, lowering myself beside her. “Carlos, Nora. Don’t do that right now.”The silence stretched between us, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. The only sound

  • Nora: Rejected Lost Princess    A Surprise

Carlos POV I glanced at Nora, who was busy admiring a butterfly hovering near the flowers. The creature's delicate wings caught the sunlight, painting rainbow patterns across her face. For a moment, she looked ethereal, untouchable—like something too precious for this world of violence and war we lived in.I was afraid of getting her anxious, too, so I softened my expression."Nora," I said, offering her my arm. "How about we take a small detour?"She tilted her head, curiosity sparkling in her eyes. "Where to?""You'll see."The moment we stepped into the main hall, I stopped dead in my tracks.A crowd of familiar faces filled the space—warriors, children, elders—everyone from the pack had gathered. Their smiles were wide, their eyes bright with anticipation. Colourful banners hung across the walls, hand-painted with messages of welcome and celebration. The scent of freshly baked bread and sweet cakes filled the air, m

  • Nora: Rejected Lost Princess    Something Happened To The Twins

Carlos POV " This should be the last potion," I said to Nora, stretching the blue vial to her. She sighed helplessly before downing all in one goal. After five minutes, she was sleeping peacefully. It's been one week since Nora woke up, and she has been getting stronger daily with the aid of the potions. The twins and I spend our time with her almost all the time. Due to the peace in the pack, I had enough time with Nora and the kids.Nevertheless, the warriors can't neglect their training. " Daddy, are you training with the warriors today?" Zoey's nightingale voice rang out as I made my way out of the chamber. They had slept over in my chamber last night.I picked her up with a smile," Yes, princess. I will be back by noon. Don't miss me too much."A rigid voice interrupted us." I want to train too, daddy."That was Zach, his eyes shining brightly. I felt a headache coming up. The only per

  • Nora: Rejected Lost Princess    He Is Safe

Carlos' POVWithout a second thought, I made quick strides back to the palace. Excitement is building up all over my body. I was grateful Nora was able to make it. " She is awake?" I asked no one in particular as I dashed out of the office, totally forgetting George was still there." No one is taking her from you, lover boy!" I heard George teasing behind me. I ignored him but I could feel his scent lingering behind me. I cared less; all I wanted was to see those piercing eyes of my mate. Not long, I stood a step away from the bed where Nora was lying. She still looked pale, but it was enough that she was finally conscious." Sweetheart," I called out softly, biting back the tears threatening to fall from my eyes. I was too excited, I guess." Carlos," she weakly called out, smiling faintly. " Got you worried, baby?"I let out a chuckle before making my way to her. With my heart still shaking, I held her hands. It was still cold, fragile to touch. " You scared me."It took me all

  • Nora: Rejected Lost Princess    She Was Awake

Carlos Pov “Daddy!”Two small figures darted inside—Zach and Zoey, my twins. Their little feet pattered against the floor as they ran straight to me, their voices blending in a whirlwind of chatter.I caught the look on Zach's face and how attentive he seemed to be as he stared at his mother. Like an inquisitive old man, Zach squinted his brows before taking steps towards Nora. I sighed at his attitude. The next second, I heard a chirpy voice that was threatening to break into tears. “Is Momma sick again?” Zoey asked, tugging at my sleeve, her big hazel eyes wide with worry. Not just worry, but a streak of wetness was fighting its way out of those cute eyes." Momma just needs rest. She will be fine after resting, Zoey..." I tried to console my little fairy princess. She nodded, much to my relief, but my great-grandfather in the form of my son couldn't keep his inquisitiveness to himself. He walked like an ancient doctor, his eyes scanning his sleeping mother.“Why is she sleeping
