Ruby was disappointed, to say the least, and it was all because she couldn't read her boss. She wondered what had gone through his head those moments he stared at her before asking her to leave and ask the butler to take her to her room. Sighing, she followed the man silently, dragging one of her suitcases with her while he took the other. They walked up the red-carpeted stairs and then down a long hallway until he stopped at the end of the hall in front of a huge oak door. “Here's your room.” He said, turning to look at her. Nodding, she thanked the man and walked into the room. It was large and painted a forest green, and it had a balcony that was overlooking the backyard, mostly the garden. The room had little furniture, but it didn't make it any less beautiful, just like the rest of the house. As soon as Ruby walked out of her room later that evening, she locked her gaze on Cameron. He must have arrived from his parents where he went to pick up his children. His piercing blue eyes looked as if they were looking into her soul. “Good evening, sir. You've arrived.” She said. “Yes, obviously.” He replied, his voice cold. "Davey said you made dinner for everyone. You didn't have to.” Why was he always so cold to her, she wanted to ask him, but she smiled and nodded. "I know that. I wanted to.” “I usually make dinner for my kids or order in for them, but the latter had been what we do lately. It's been ages since they had a home-cooked meal if you don't count the occasional oatmeal.” He said. Wow, that wasn't a healthy habit, especially for kids. "It's fine. I can do that now.” She said. She wasn't going to be paid for being their cook, but it was the least she could do to make up for being paid eighty-five dollars an hour. “We’ll talk about you getting an increase later.”

Cameron lay in bed that night staring up at the ceiling of his bedroom, thinking about Ruby. She was just only three bedrooms away, about fifty feet down the hall wondering what she was up to. She was probably asleep and not awake like he was unable to sleep. He wondered how she looked while she slept, what she loved to wear to bed; whether she was the type that went naked to bed or the one that went fully clothed. He also wondered if he loved her room, the room he had designed originally for his late wife before she abandoned it. Aside from the furniture in the room, everything else was shiny, the green paint on the wall making it look like a forest come alive, and with the curtains and wallpaper that was on one wall of the room, everything from a Victorian décor magazine, one that was fit for a princess, and not a nanny. The sounds of happy children playing and shouting somewhere in the house woke Cameron up. It was the weekend and he had planned to sleep in a few hours longer than his usual six o’clock, but he must have slept even longer because now, the sunlight was in his room. He opened his eyes slowly, turning to look at the clock that was on his bedside table. It was ten o’clock in the morning. “Oh, shit!” he whispered. He must have slept so much because of what happened last night, with him in the shower, with his hand around himself and Ruby in his head doing things to him. Smiling mentally, but squinting his eyes at her outwardly, Cameron thought. "Oh, right you little seductive woman. Wouldn't you like for me to take whatever I want from you?” Damn this woman. Cameron knew how his best friend got when he talked about his work, and wouldn't stop if he wasn't stopped, so Cameron nodded. "I hear you, but I don't want to hear you ramble about something I won't understand.” Lee sighed and rubbed his bloodshot eyes. “Do you think that maybe Duke can go with you for the weekend? I’m going to faint otherwise.” He said, and Cameron rolled his eyes. “Whatever man. You didn't have to ask that, but we need to talk.” Oh shit! Oops. Lee thought. Back at home, Cameron was surprised to see the house a bit more deserted than usual. It wasn't as if it was always crowded or anything, but finding the front door open with no one in the sitting room was not something he had expected. He walked down the hall, then back to the living room but no one was there. He wondered where Davey was, and soon, he began to call his name. "Davey?" he called, and then tried again, but there was no response from the man who was usually very attentive, but then again, it was his first time not to be in around like this. Unlike usual days, nobody came to take his bag, or car keys like Davey or one of the cleaners would do, and Ruby wasn't even in sight as well. This made him frown, and then a worry line marred his forehead. He stepped out of the living room to walk around and look for someone.
