Chapter 1: Shocking Truth

Alexandra's POV

I took the last step into the room and sighed, my shoulders slumping down as I did that.

“He isn't here” I muttered to myself, then picked my phone up, putting a call across to my cousin, Theresa.

She picked on the first ring and her low voice came from the other end of the phone.

“Home already?” Theresa asked, and I nodded like she could see me from where she was.

“Yes, I'm home, but he isn't here, Asher didn't come home again” I complained, tears welling up at the corner of my eyes, blurring my vision.

“Calm down Sandra” Theresa said, but I couldn't. I sniffled back tears but they still came trickling down my face.

“It's been like this for months, Theresa” I said, my voice barely above a whisper as I said those words.

“Maybe he is just late, he will be home soon, he just got off work, remember?” Theresa said, her voice muffled as if she was being cautious as someone was around her. Knowing this, I didn't want to inconvenience her further with my problems, and decided to end the call.

“Okay, Theresa, I really hope he comes, I will wait for him,” I said, waiting for her to say her final bye before I hung up.

“Okay, Sandra, he will surely come,” She said, and then I heard her giggle.

“Stop” I heard her say in a mutter in between her giggles.

“I want you now, drop the call” I heard a masculine voice say and I sighed, I knew I was disturbing a loving moment between her and someone and wouldn't want to delay ending the call any longer.

“Goodnight, Theresa” I said in a rush and got the phone off my ears as I crouched down at the back of Asher's door, my knees hugged to my chest and my chin laying comfortably between them as I tried to hold back my tears.

“What exactly is wrong Asher?” I cried, shutting my eyes to recollect my hurt self.

My husband, Asher Sinclair, the only person who I cherished the most in the whole world, was someone who wouldn't do without touching me, we both couldn't do without it, but for the past six months, Asher had only slept in the same bed with me, discarding all my advances towards him.

He rarely comes home and when he does, he's always as cold as ice.

“Where did things go wrong for us?” I asked myself, followed by a low groan in between my tears.

Asher must have been keeping things from me, what did I do to him to deserve being treated as invincible in the marriage I had always cherished and protected.

“I have to ask him” I thought, steadying myself as I sat more comfortably on the ground, waiting for Asher.

I don't know if he would come home, but I would wait, just like he had waited on our first date.

I have the right to know why two and half years of our marriage was a success but the past six months turned out to be a failure.

I rested my head on the door, my thoughts spiralling on the years we had spent together, how Asher had always wanted me and I always wanted him.

My breath stopped at the thought of that as I remembered the seven words I had heard minutes earlier.

“I want you now, drop the call”

That voice! It sounded oddly familiar but it couldn't be. It would never be.

I chuckled, thinking about how absurd it would be to think about the possibility of that voice being the person I'm thinking about.

“No!!” I screamed, my hands running through my hair getting it disheveled.

I stood up immediately, not convinced by the reassurance I was giving myself. I stormed out of the room, rushing down the stairs as fast as I could.

Finding my car keys was not difficult as I scurried out of the house. I had to get to Theresa's house and check things for myself, the voice had to be similar and not what I don't want to believe.

The car ride to Theresa's estate was short as I had the car accelerated to its highest speed. I walked into Theresa's apartment, the same place I had left just hours earlier, but i felt the air around change.

I had visited Theresa earlier in the day because of how bored I was, being home all day with no one to talk to was something I had got tired of enduring. She was my favorite person in the world after Asher. Asher comes first, Theresa comes second.

Of course, my husband wouldn't have come here right after work instead of returning back home. If he didn't want to see me, he would have just gone to his hotel suite and not a place like this.

I walked towards Theresa's room as I picked my steps carefully, straining my ears to hear the low sounds of laughter and moans in the room. I stopped on my track, my hand almost touching the doorknob but I stopped midway taking my hand back as I restrained myself.

“It could be Theresa and her boyfriend, I wouldn't want to be an intruder, right?” I thought to myself, hesitating as I almost turned wanting to return home but then remembered what seemed to be the most important thing here.

The fact that Theresa had no boyfriend, they broke their fucked up relationship months ago! She would have told me about a new relationship if she got someone new.

I twitched the doorknob, the door opening with no sound made and the view I saw made me freeze and I couldn't hear the beat of my heart anymore.

My ears haven't heard wrong, it was truly Asher, he had wanted Theresa and now on the bed with her, both enjoying the pleasure they were giving themselves as they failed to notice me.

“This can't be true” I said, finally gaining the attention of the duo who turned to me in shock.
