Thelma’s POV

Giselle's mouth formed a silent O as Jax's face went blank, he couldn't believe it.

The securities didn't move while I stared at the back of his head, too startled because I was more worried that he actually defended me.

"What?” giselle's voice screeched “Captain, she's dangerous, the notorious stalker”

"She’s with me,”Rhys replied with no hesitation.“She’s my guest.”

He reached down, his hand was big and warm as he took my wrist and pulled me to my feet.

My leg squivered and when we locked eyes, it felt like he was piercing my soul.

His silver eyes were enough to frost everyone.

"Touch her again,” he said, quietly “and you’ll answer to me."

Jax couldn't answer to that but I saw his vein tighten around his throat.

But before I'd read Giselle's reaction, Rhys had already pulled me into room 418 and shut the door on all of them.

Once again, I was back here, fighting back my tears and rubbing my sore wrists.

The smoke had subsided because I could see the exhume from a fire extinguisher tossed to a corner.

He stared at me like I was a problem he'd just decided to keep.

"Sit down,” he mused, crossing his arms. “We need to talk.”

I squeezed my lips in a frown scurried towards the chair his eyes were pointed at but didn't sit.

"Look, everything that happened was accidental. Thanks for playing hero but if you want to ask for compensation, it would be better I get locked up" I narrated without breathing.

My wolf grimanced, like she was disappointed with my assertion.

Rhys cocked a brow at me, as though impressed and I was fighting demons not to look down, between his thighs.

"Really?" He muttered but that time sounded too flirty than serious.

I'd almost replied with my story when he said; "I want you to be my girlfriend"

"What?"

I'd rolled out like I'd been shot and my brain stalled.

Girlfriend? Him? Me? After I tried burning his suite?

My wolf whined "stupid, it's dangerous. Don't do it"

I couldn't count how much breath I kept losing today and rhys wasn't fazed when he said that.

He was still leaning against the door and I couldn't even concentrate.

"Really?" I muffled, furrowing my brows as though I wasn't shivering “That’s your line? After I committed arson in your room?”

“Sit down,” he instructed again, his eyes made a swift sweep of me.

I did because my legs felt numb now.

Rhys didn't as he just paced twice with those stormy eyes on me the whole time and it made me feel like a play he was rewinding.

"You think I'm doing this to be a hero?" He began, his face stern while I was melting under his gaze.

“I don’t do heroes. I do wins.”

He stopped, standing right in front of me. So close I felt his heat, smelt his lavender soap.

“Do you know what they were saying about me in that hallway, Thelma?"

My name, he knew my name?

“They were saying the Captain of Black Ice lost the Cup because he choked.”

Oh, someone was bothered about reputation when I'm dying from the heartbreak it caused me.

He grind his teeth. “Because he’s predictable. Because Jax read him like a book.”

He crouched, his breath poured on my face. Towel or not, I couldn't look away from his face.

I couldn't even speak because he did the talking.

“You wrote that book.”

My breath caught as a flash goes through my head. Earlier, I'd seen my records on his bed.

Shit! That made me think it was kane's room.

"Don’t play dumb," he deduced in a deadly tone.

“i watched the tape. All of it. Melbourne, Year 2. Year 3. Finals.”

Don't breath. I told myself as my eyes settled on his lips.

“Every time Jax scored off a delay? You called it from the bench.” he was literally analyzing it and tingles rushes inside me as he placed his hands on the arms of my chair, leaning further while I duck my head back.

“Every time he faked left and went right? You were the one who told him I drop my shoulder on the third period.”

He reached out his index finger and I curl like a frightened pup. But it wasn't to touch me, he tap my temple instead.

“You’re in here.”

I squinched "I— I was his intern. I was supposed to—”

“You were supposed to be loyal,” he interrupted but not angrily, just stating fact.

How sexy he looked when he rolled his eyes. My head has to stop talking about him.

“You weren’t. You were brilliant.”

Brilliant.

No one had called me that since Jax and I left Australia.

“You made Jax unstoppable,” Rhys presumed shrugging his shoulders “You studied me for two years. You know where I hesitate. Where I overcommit. Where my wolf bleeds through.”

He knows but why do I feel amused rather than despise him. I suddenly felt noticed under his scruntiny.

“You told Jax all of it. And he used it to take my Cup.”

He stood properly, towering over me and I told myself I was done for.

“So here’s the math, Thelma"

Sweat bead on my forehead as all kinds of imagination had filled my head.

Does he want revenge on me? I was just madly in love with Jax that I could burn the world for him but now, the sight of Jax gets on my nerves.

"Problem one: PR.” He gestured to the door and that drew my attention back. “The League thinks I’m a monster. Sponsors are pulling. If I don’t humanize in 48 hours, I’m fined. Benched. Traded.”

“Problem two: Hockey.”_ His eyes went silver again “I’m predictable. I lost because of it.”

He paused as each proposal sent thrills and I watched him like a spectator.

“You solve both.”

"Me?" My voice was barely there as I gulped hard.

“You fake-date me,” he enunciated like he was reading a contract.

“90 days. We show up in the Public. Cameras. Charity galas. You call me ‘mine’ when the press asks.”

He heaved a sigh, ran his fingers through his hair before darting his gaze at me.

“That fixes PR. The Captain has a girlfriend. He’s not a monster. He’s human.”

I knew I had something to say in all this but he just rendered me speechless.

He takes a step forward again.

“And while you’re doing that? You coach me.”

I blinked. "Seriously?"

I hated myself for just uttering single words.

“Off-record,” he continued not minding my reaction “No cameras. No team. Just you and me and film.”

“You tell me what you told Jax. You tell me how to beat him. You tell me how to not drop my shoulder.” he inserted my hair between my ears and really looked at me.

“You make me win, Thelma"

I stammered “You want me to—”

“Make me unstoppable,” he finished. “The same way you made him"

My heart was pounding so hard I thought he'd hear it.

“Why?” I whispered. “I cost you the Cup. You should hate me.”

His eyes narrowed. “I do hate you,” he averred, blunt.

THELMA’S POV Five hours later, it was already the close of work, and I was ready to leave. Sage was standing right there at the exit door, and it was totally unknown to me until I sighted him and almost gasped in shock. “I have been waiting for you for almost an hour.” He said calmly, making way for me to pass through. “I didn’t realize that.” I pretended as though I didn’t intentionally stay for an extra hour just to make sure that I didn’t see Sage again that day. But apparently, he was persistent. “Are you avoiding me, Thelma?” “Why would I avoid you? You are my boss, remember?” I smirked while he grunted. “That’s not what I am talking about, and you know it. I wanted to drop you off at home myself just to make sure that you don’t stress yourself. After what you did for us today, you deserve a free ride.” “Thank you, but I will be fine.” I declined because I remembered that I was going to be going on a second date with Rhys. I decided to give him a second chance after givi

THELMA’S POV The look on their faces showed an intense apprehension even when I smiled to give them the assurance that things were not bad. “Talk to us, Thelma! Did he love it?” Sage asked again while his assistant, Lara moved closer with her hands on her chest as though she was trying to stop it from beating so fast. “We got it,” I announced excitedly, but it didn’t seem like any of them believed me. But they had no reason to, after all, I only spent less than thirty minutes with Brian in the office and we didn’t even get to speak much. “What do you mean, Thelma? Are you trying to say that we have the deal?”“Yes, Mr Garrison.” I nodded to affirm my words, and while I was still staring at Sage with a smile on my face, Brian walked out of the room, and his pleasant cologne went before him. “Mr. Denver?” Sage moved to him at once, surprised that he was smiling while he walked gradually, adjusting his gray jacket with both hands. “You should have brought Thelma to talk to me about

THELMA’S POV I definitely was pleased with the way things had been for the past few days, but I wasn’t certain about giving Rhys the open chance to be with me. I got a job, against Rhys’ wish. I didn’t want to solely depend on him, so I decided to put my skills to good use. My new boss, Sage Williams was unpredictable, yet charming. I had made up my mind not to worry about Jax anymore, and to move on with my life. But then there was Sage, and I didn’t even know what he wanted with me. The attention and special treatment he was giving to me was causing some little problems in the company. His special Assistant seemed to be jealous of the fact that she couldn’t order me around whenever he was around because she knew that he was not going to be pleased with it. That morning was actually one of the few times I had seen Sage come early to work. It was obvious that whatever reason made him come that early was very urgent. “Thelma! You are here!” He quickly moved to me as soon as he

THELMAI knew that Captain Rhys introduced me as his Luna to his pack so that he could save us both from ridicule, but I was still bothered that I had made a very wrong decision. “Sign here.” Rhys pointed at the contract paper he had already drafted, and the only thing that was left was my name.“Thelma? I love the way it sounds…” He said with a smile, and I realized that he didn’t even know my name. But that didn’t bother me as much as the realization of what I was about to get myself into.“Are you okay?” He asked, seeing the way I was staring at the documents like I was about to shred them after realizing my mistake.“If you don’t change your mind now, I don’t think you will ever have the chance to again.” His eyes showed me that he hoped that I didn’t change my mind. And when I thought about it, I realized that birthing a child for Lord Rhys, as he was fondly called, was better than the maltreatment that awaited me if I ever choose to return to Darkwood Pack. The werewolves of

RHYS She was young and beautiful, and definitely the kind of woman I wanted as the mother to my heir.I barely got any sleep, and when it was finally dawn, I was already on my way to wake her up.“Good morning.” She was already awake by the time I got there, still staring nervously at me like she was afraid that I was going to hurt her.I admired her features. That blonde hair and her yellow eyes were going to look perfect for my child.“Get ready; we are returning to Crest Pack at once.” I walked away at once, avoiding any form of eye contact with her. I stood by the door and waited for only a few minutes before she walked out of the room with slow but steady steps. Our eyes met, but she quickly looked away like she had seen a monster. “I am ready.” She said, but that sounded like a lie she was trying so hard to hide. We left for the car at once, and we set out on the journey to Crest Pack.I had finally found the woman to bear me a child, and I didn’t think I was going to have

THELMA Captain Rhys sent cold shivers into the body of everyone who set their eyes on him. He was standing right there like he owned the entire world. He didn’t need any introduction. Who didn’t know the demon Captain?“No one dares mark her as a rogue! No one!” He commanded, his thudding steps increasing as he marched toward me. “What is he doing here?” I thought to myself, but the only thing I could do was stare while I remained on my knees. “Captain Rhys?” My uncle’s voice suddenly quivered; it was as if he had forgotten that he was a Captain as well. “She committed a very serious crime, and we decided that she must be ousted.”“Then sell her to me, Captain Damian. I need slaves, and she looks like someone who can be able to tidy my chambers.” Captain Rhys’s smirk indicated that he meant his words, and I thought for a second that he was cruel. But that seemed to be better than being branded a rogue. The Demon’s slave had a little more dignity than being a rogue.“You want us t
