Blaming the past

PRESENT DAY

Cynthia felt a force come at her as she stumbled back away from Logan’s body. Her head pounded violently and her body felt anguished. It was as if she had just been beaten to a pulp, but there were no visible marks of it on her body. She stood up and picked the first lighter she saw on the table and burnt the mirror chain that was hanging around Logan’s neck. She removed it from him so he wouldn't get burnt before tossing it in the sink, silently choking on the toxic smoke that oozed out of it. 

“Jesus fucking Christ.” She wheezed as she opened the window, letting air in and reducing the smoke inside the room.
