Chapter 5

Darcy

Hey, remember me? I slapped you and got your scholarship revoked. Wanna be my boyfriend?”

I groaned then covered my face with my hands. This was ridiculous, utterly ridiculous. There’s no way he’ll agree to this. But he’s desperate right? Desperate enough to be unaffected by Dad’s threats?

I was right outside Killian's off-campus house but I hadn’t even worked up the nerve to ring the doorbell.

The worst he can say is no right? Wrong. The worst he can say is that I’m a crazy psycho who’s obsessed with him.

“Fuck, I’m too broke for this.” I mumbled. I raised up my hand to ring the doorbell but suddenly, the door swung open.

No, it wasn’t  Killian, it was worse. Easton’s finest figure skater, Killian’s favourite puck bunny and my other nemesis, Milena. Remember how I said our figure skating team hadn’t won a medal in decades? Well our first gold in over ten years was won by her. I don’t need to say that her ego was the size of a planet.

Milena’s sharp green eyes glared down at me. “ What are you doing here?”

“Is Killian here?” I sighed. “I need to talk to him?”

“About what?” She scoffed. “How to get rid of his admission this time? You’re not satisfied with just his scholarship?”

“I’m trying to help him get his scholarship back.” I said evenly. “If you care about him, you’ll get out of my way.”

For some reason, that infuriated her and her emerald green eyes glinted with scorn. “The only way you can help him is by getting the fuck out of here.” She poked me hard in my shoulder. “You’re just a liar and a spoilt brat. What could you possibly do?”

I slapped her hand away. “Not more spoilt than you.” I retorted. “I’m not the one riding around in a freaking Corvette. And if we’re gonna talk about lies, I know you and your Kappa sisters spread that rumor about Eloise having gonorrhoea.”

Her eyes flared up even more. “You bitch!” She pushed me backwards with both her hands. I stumbled a few feet back and Milena geared up to attack me. For a second, it looked like she was about to shift but someone appeared and held her back.

“Calm down Milena.” Chase grunted as he lifted her off her feet. “You said you were leaving.”

“Get off me!” She shrieked while flailing her limbs.

Chase put her down and she glared at me before turning around and stomping away.

“Are you okay, Dare-bear?” He stretched out his hand. “ What are you doing here?”

“ Oh, you live with him too.” I sighed and looked down. “I’m here to apologise to Killian.”

“About the skates? I don’t think he was that mad. You guys prank each other all the time.”

“This is more than a prank.”  I sighed and looked away. I didn’t want Chase to know I lied about Killian assaulting me. He was still treating me like a human being so Killian probably hadn’t said anything yet.

“Well whatever it is, it’ll be fine once you apologize. Killian is a good guy.”

“I doubt it.” I mumbled. “Is he here?”

“Yeah, the last room at the end of the hallway.” My face must’ve looked pale because he added. “If you feel uncomfortable, just call my name and I’ll be right up.”

I nodded tensely. The one who might feel uncomfortable is Killian.

“ Don’t be so scared, Dare-bear.” He gave me a ‘friendly’ pat on the back that vibrated my entire spine before giving me a thumbs up. “Go do the right thing.”

The right thing? That was far from what I was doing.

I walked to the room at the very end of the hallway and knocked. No answer. I knocked again and it was the very same thing. Strange, he said he was in here.

I opened the door and the room was empty.

Killian must’ve had the master bedroom because this place was massive. It had enough room for a large bed, a study table, a loveseat and a chaise. There was even a TV in there.

I went over to his table and I saw a framed picture of a beautiful woman. She had brown hair and light brown eyes. I was about to pick it up when the door behind me opened.

Killian stepped out of the ensuite bathroom in nothing but a towel.

“What the hell are you doing here?” he growled.

His voice was  full of hostility but that wasn’t what made me swallow. Aside from his obvious personality flaws, I kind of got why Killian had so many girls throwing themselves at him. He’s nothing but muscle and I couldn’t stop myself from imagining running my tongue down his rock hard abs. His light brown hair was damp and pushed away from his forehead. He still had water running down his chest.

“Did you just come here to leer at me, Grayson?”  He crossed his arms and tilted his head to the side. That pose highlighted just how big his biceps were.

“Of course not.” I forced my gaze to his face. “I’m here to—”

“Conjure up another false accusation?” He cut in with venom in his voice. “What will it be this time? You’ll say I hit you? Kicked you?”

“No. Just let me finish.”

“No.” He turned away from me. “You’ve done enough. Leave.”

“Killian—”

“I said leave.” He went over to his bed and picked up a shirt.

“I want you to be my boyfriend.” I blurted out.

The shirt in his hand fell to the floor and he turned to look at me with eyes as wide as saucers.

“Is this some new form of harassment?” He said with genuine shock.

I wanted the floor to open and swallow me up then drag me down to hell.

“I want you to pretend to be my boyfriend. Look, my dad—”

“Your dad? Of course.” He scoffed. “Don’t tell me all this was because you couldn’t resist me.”  His grin was both smug and mocking.

And that reduced my guilt just a little bit.

“Ew.” I groaned.

“Ew?”

“Don’t think you’re all that, Captain.” I sneered. “If I had it my way, I wouldn’t even be in this damned building! My dad cut me off. No money until I find a boyfriend and I can’t pay anyone to date me because he’d know and probably pay them to back off. But you are the only person I can give something that my dad isn’t able to give so please pretend to be my boyfriend for a few months!”

Killian stared at me in silence, blinking slowly. Then he laughed. It started off as a chuckle then it blew into a full on guffaw with him clutching his sides and leaning on his bed.

I closed my eyes and felt the heat spread on my cheeks. He definitely thought I was a psycho. Why did I ever think this was a good idea?

When he was done he wiped a tear from the corner of his eye and said, “Well that’s one way to confess.”

“I told you,” I said through gritted teeth. “It wasn’t a confe—”

“I’ll do it.” He cut in.

“What?”

“I’ll be your fake boyfriend.” He flashed me a grin.

Chapter 45.KillianGrayson’s arm was on my chest with her elbows digging into my face. Her legs were spread open wide with one draping on mine and the other hanging on the edge of the bed. How could someone lay down like this? She had already eaten two servings of Devon’s risotto and crashed immediately after. I picked up the plates and started walking downstairs. It was completely dark, save for the light from the TV. I walked down to the middle of the stairs and saw that the person on the couch was Chase. He was watching a nature documentary about giant cats. He barely looked up when I passed. I dumped the plates in the sink and was making my way back to my room when Chase spoke.“Can’t sleep?”It seemed like an innocent question but there was something about his tone that reminded me of the look he gave me back in the equipment room. I had to end this. I circled back and sat on the other edge of the couch. ”Yeah, something like that.” I mumbled in reply. “What about you?”He s

Killian got up and stood in front of me, blocking their view. I took that time to check if I had any slip-ups that would be considered as indecent exposure.“You must have really enjoyed yourself, Kil-boy.” Devon laughed and pointed at Killian’s crotch. He was practically leaning on Chase who had a stony look on his face.“This is what you came here to do?” Chase spat.“How did you know we were in here?” Killian asked.“I was able to send a text before my phone died.” I said as I got up.“You texted Chase?” Killian turned his neck to look at me.”No, I texted Rowan.” I tilted my head to see if he was standing behind them. “He’s not here?”“He had to meet with a T.A.” Devon shrugged with his hands in his pocket.I leaned down to carry my bag, but I accidentally caused a few of the hockey sticks to fall down.“Are you okay

Chapter 43.Killian“Fuck,” Grayson cursed again as she got up and walked to the door. She ran a hand over the space where the door knob was supposed to be then turned to me. “Why didn’t you wedge the door with something, you knew it was bad. You’ve fucking trapped me in here before!”“Are you saying it’s my fault we’re stuck here?” I narrowed my eyes on her. “The only thing I’m guilty of is checking if you got a concussion with how fast you dived in head first.”“I wouldn’t have done that if you didn’t push me against the wall.” She put her hands on her hips.“You did it first.” I retorted.“That’s because I wanted you to talk to me.”“Well you should have listened when I said ‘later’.”She huffed and crossed her hands. “This is such a non-issue, I’ll just call someone.”“Fine.” I crossed my hands and leaned against the wall. She brought her phone out of her bag and began to furiously tap the screen. After a few seconds she slowed down then looked up. “Hey, is your phone here? Mine i

After everything that happened, that was the last thing I expected him to say.“Stay here.” He repeated. “Sleep here. You said we shouldn’t sleep apart or no one would believe we were dating.”I looked at his hand still wrapped around mine, then back at his face. He looked exhausted. His hair was messy and there was something in his expression I couldn’t quite place.“Okay.” I said. The word came out quieter than I intended. “Let me just change first.” I picked up a tank top and a pair of shorts and changed in the bathroom. When I got out, Killian was sitting up. I slid under the covers beside him and turned my face away from him.“You’ll fall off. Come closer.” He mumbled.Okay this was weird. Very weird. I had spent the entire day convinced that Killian was mad at me. Actually I had been convinced since yesterday. When he picked me up from the library yesterday his replies were short. Then he went

Chapter 41.KillianGrayson had spent a long time downstairs. It was basically midnight and she still hadn’t come up here. I was right, she was avoiding me. She definitely was awake this morning and thought I was a creep. She must have still needed some space.I had already finished my coursework, I was just blankly scrolling through documents and occasionally glancing at the door. Then I realized that I was waiting for her. I was waiting for Grayson.I felt a strong urge to work out or go on a run.“Fuck it.” I closed my laptop and got up from my desk then moved to my bed. I was half asleep when I felt my bed shift under the weight of someone. I smelt her rose perfume and knew it was Grayson. I felt her body brush mine and for some reason goosebumps spread across my arms. I immediately moved over to the other side of the bed, leaving enough room between us. I couldn’t have a repeat of what happened last night.I looked over to her, laying down at the very edge of the bed. A whole per

  • ON THIN ICE   Chapter 40.

Chapter 40.DarcyThat car ride was too much.Killian was wearing a black compression shirt that showed off all the well defined slopes of his muscular body. I could even see his abs through that shirt. Why the hell was it so tight?Ever since my lewd act of perversion that morning, my body had practically been on fire, reacting to every little sense of Killian. For some reason, his cologne seemed so overpowering today. Citrus and sandalwood, along with the scent that is undeniably Killian filled my nose and made it so hard to think about anything that wasn’t him. I was acting like a total doofus, staring at his profile, his jawline, his messy hair, the rippling of his muscles under his shirt and the outline of his dick beneath his sweatpants. Killian was hanged! I felt it when I was pressed up against him. I wondered if it would feel to push up against him again.I shook my head really hard to get those thoughts to leave, but that just led to me getting weird stares from other studen
