[Ava’s POV]

Class feels longer than usual. At the far end of the room Ryan has his arm around Sophie’s shoulders, their heads tilted together like the rest of us do not exist.

I told myself I was done with him. I said the words out loud in front of half the school. Still, watching them sends a dull ache through my chest.

Two years of showing up, of choosing him first, and this is what it looks like from the outside.

The bell finally rings. I gather my books slower than I need to, then glance toward the doorway. Part of me expects Kyle to be leaning against the frame. He is not there. Relief slips through me so quietly I almost miss it. At least I will not have to deal with him right now.

I step into the corridor and take the narrow side route I have used for months, the one most people ignore. My bag bounces against my hip as I walk faster, then break into a light run. Halfway down the passage I look back over my shoulder to make sure no one is following.

When I turn forward again I slam straight into something solid.

Hands catch my elbows before I can hit the ground. For one panicked second I think the wall itself has grown arms. Then I look up and every careful plan I made collapses.

Kyle is already watching me, that same easy grin in place.

“Running away already?” he asks, still holding my arms.

I cough and step back, adjusting the strap of my bag even though it does not need adjusting. “I was taking a shortcut.”

He reaches into the side bag of his motorcycle helmet and pulls out a second one, smaller and newer than the scuffed black one he usually wears. He holds it out to me.

“I came to offer you a ride.”

I stare at the helmet. It looks like it has never been used. “When did you even get that?”

He shrugs one shoulder. “Does it matter?”

I sigh and turn away from him.

“I can walk. Sitting on the back of your bike is only going to draw more attention.”

His smile widens. “You already drew the attention. I’m just keeping up my end of the deal.”

“There is no deal,” I say, but the words come out weaker than I want.

He does not argue. He simply starts walking beside me when I turn away. After ten steps I stop.

“Why are you following me?”

“If you won’t sit on the bike, then I’ll walk you back. We both need to get home somehow.”

“We live on opposite sides of town.”

He does not answer. He just keeps matching my pace, hands in his pockets, as if this is the most normal thing in the world. I huff out a breath.

“Fine. This is the last time.”

He does not look surprised. He simply places the new helmet on my head, the straps still stiff, and waits while I climb onto the back of the bike.

When I wrap my arms around his waist he glances down at my hands for a second, long enough that I curl my fingers inward without thinking. The engine growls to life and we pull away from the curb.

The ride is shorter than I expect. He parks cleanly in front of my building like he has done it a hundred times. I climb down, pull the helmet off, and turn to face him.

“How do you know where I live?”

“A birdie told me.”

“That’s a lie.” I do not have anyone close enough to tell him anything.

He shrugs again. “Well, that’s not an issue, is it? After all, you’re my girlfriend. Of course I need to study about you, know what you like and what you dislike. I just started with where you live.”

Anger flares hot and sudden. I shove the helmet back into his hands harder than necessary.

“Stay away from me.”

He does not follow. He only watches as I walk up the path, then swings a leg back over the bike and drives off. I stay on the pathway until the sound of the engine fades completely.

When I open the door Theo is standing by the window, still looking out at the empty street.

“What are you doing?” I ask.

He startles and turns around, eyes wide. “Who was that big bro?”

I clear my throat. “Nobody you should know about. Come here.”

I guide him away from the glass and into the small living room. The medication on the side table does not seem to be helping as much as it should. I check the bottle, then look at him again.

“I need to run out and get more.”

His face falls a little. “You’re going out again? You always take so long to bring back the drugs. Sometimes you come back in the middle of the night,” he pauses, before continuing.

“I hope nothing is wrong sis,” he adds, quieter.

“You worry too much,” I tell him, ruffling his hair the way I always do. “I just need to get the drugs. Sometimes there are a lot of people in the store, so they sell to me later.”

He nods, but the worry stays in his eyes. I change into darker clothes, pick up the usual backpack I carry for nights like this, and step back outside.

The street is already dim. I pull the hood up and walk into the shadows where no one else knows what waits for me after dark.

  • ONE KISS TO TAME THE BAD BOY    What Is At Stake.

[Ava’s POV]Ryan walks over, his steps heavy, and his eyes move from me to Kyle and then back again. The jersey is still warm in my hands, the scent of effort and whatever soap Kyle uses clinging to the fabric. My heart is already beating too fast from the game and the way Kyle handed it to me in front of everyone, but now it feels like it might climb straight into my throat.“I tolerated this the first day because I thought it was just a game, something to spite me,” Ryan says, his voice tight and rough. “But what are you doing standing here taking his jersey like you belong to him?”I step forward before Kyle can speak, my own voice sharper than I expect. “This is none of your business. I already told you I’m with Kyle now, so what are you still doing here?”Ryan’s jaw tightens. He looks past me toward Kyle, then back again. “Whatever game you people are playing is not going to work.” His eyes lock on mine. “Ava, if you think you can do this to make me jealous, you should know that

  • ONE KISS TO TAME THE BAD BOY    The Game.

[Ava’s POV]I walk toward him without another word. The helmet is already in his hand, and I take it because I already know there is no winning an argument with Kyle West once he has decided something. I settle onto the back of the bike and wrap my arms around his waist. His body goes still for a second. From the side of his face I catch the edge of a slow, almost threatening smile before he faces forward again. I shake my head at him even though he cannot see it, and the engine growls to life beneath us.The ride is short. When he parks near the back entrance of the club I climb down and hand the helmet over. He keeps the bike running, watching me with that same calm expression.“You know you don’t have to do this, right?” he asks, voice low.“Don’t even start,” I answer, already turning away.He chuckles behind me. “Oh, don’t worry. I’m still willing to support you no matter your choice—”I do not let him finish. I keep walking toward the staff door. His voice follows me one last

  • ONE KISS TO TAME THE BAD BOY    The Bad Boy's Jersey.

[Ava’s POV]I stare at Kyle, still standing in the courtyard with his hands in his pockets and that unreadable expression on his face.“What could you possibly have to tell me?” I ask, my voice tighter than I want it to be.He steps closer and rests both hands lightly on my shoulders, the touch steady enough to keep me from moving away. A small smile pulls at the corner of his mouth.“Relax, little kitten,” he says, eyes warming just a fraction. “It’s just something that might make you a little happy.”I feel my brows draw together. The nickname catches me off guard more than the words themselves. I push lightly against his chest with one hand, trying to create space.“Just say it already.”Kyle reaches behind him and pulls out a folded piece of fabric. He holds it out toward me without another word. I take it carefully, still watching his face, then unfold the material. It is a jersey. His jersey. The name WEST is printed across the back above a bold number, the same one I have seen

  • ONE KISS TO TAME THE BAD BOY    The Name On The List.

[Ava’s POV]The professor’s question hangs in the air, and every pair of eyes in the room seems to turn toward our desk. My throat feels tight. I open my mouth to say Joseph’s name, but Kyle speaks first, calm and clear enough for the entire class to hear.“She’s with me,” he says, leaning back in the chair like the matter is already settled.Joseph shifts uncomfortably beside us. I force myself to look at the professor and keep my voice steady.“I was going to partner with Joseph,” I say.Kyle turns his head just enough to meet my eyes. There is no smile this time, only a quiet warning.“We just became official yesterday,” he reminds me, the word landing heavier than it should. “It would look strange if my girlfriend spent the next three weeks working that closely with someone else, don’t you think?”I know what he is doing. He is strengthening the claim in front of everyone, making it harder for me to pull away. The fake dating agreement sits between us like a thin wire, and he is

  • ONE KISS TO TAME THE BAD BOY    The Best Project Partners.

[Ava’s POV]Morning light slips through the thin curtains earlier than I want it to. I sit up slowly, rub the sleep from my eyes, and force myself out of bed. The apartment is quiet except for the soft sound of Theo moving around in the small kitchen. I pull on a plain sweater and jeans, tie my hair back, and join him.I make eggs and toast the way he likes them, nothing fancy, just enough to fill us both. We eat at the narrow table without talking much. When the plates are empty I reach for my bag.“I can drop you at school first,” I tell him.Theo shakes his head, already standing to rinse his plate. “I’m fine. You should just go ahead. I don’t want to make you late.”I watch him for a second, then nod. He is getting older, more independent, and some days that makes the weight on my shoulders feel heavier instead of lighter. I grab my backpack, check that his medication is still on the counter, and leave. The walk to the academy feels longer than usual. Every corner I turn, I half

  • ONE KISS TO TAME THE BAD BOY    The Bad Boy Saves.

[Ava’s POV]I wait for the hit. My eyes stay shut, my shoulders tight, every muscle locked in place as I brace for the pain that should already be exploding across my face. Seconds stretch longer than they should. Yet nothing lands. Instead a heavy, solid sound cracks through the room, the noise of two bodies colliding hard enough to shake the air. I slowly open one eye, half expecting to find myself somewhere else entirely, maybe already on the floor. What I see makes my breath catch. Kyle West stands in front of me, one hand locked around the wrist of the man who was about to strike me. His expression is cold, the kind of look that says the other person has already crossed a line he will not forgive. He shoves the guy backward with enough force that the man stumbles into one of the leather chairs. The second man scrambles to his feet, face twisted in anger. “Who the hell are you?” he demands, voice rising. “And what makes you think you can just bust in here?” Kyle d
