MasukDANTE
I had been watching her since I walked into a club with my cousins for a drink, she was attention grabbing. My cousins couldn't take their eyes off her, they had been talking about a little spitfire working in a club downtown after visiting it once. All the men around me couldn't stop gushing about how big her ass was or how good she would feel against them, I didn't care until I saw her. She had caught my attention the moment I stepped into the club though I tried not to show it. I had a feeling that I'd seen her somewhere but I ignored it. We left the club early and I sent my cousins home, though they hesitated before finally leaving. I wanted to be alone for a moment to think of a way to get out of the ridiculous engagement my dead grandfather signed in my name. I wasn't going to get married to a spoilt brat and I was definitely not getting married to a fucking Lombardi. Though I couldn't just break off the deal he made with them, I was going to find a way to end the engagement one way or the other. I brought out a cigarette from my pocket, opened it and took one out, placing it between my lips but didn't light it. I only smoked when I was really angry or holding myself back. After walking aimlessly for hours, I decided to head back home because I knew the streets of scampia like the back of my hands, it was filled with trouble. And even though I was a little riled up and looking for a way to vent, I didn't have the time or energy to deal with street thugs who didn't know who was in charge. I was just about to call for a car when I felt someone running towards me from behind, I turned around immediately and saw a group of bandits walking towards me. Fuck. Just great. My hand flew to the gun tucked under my shirt, but before I could pull it out, one of them lunged at me with a knife. I dodged to the side and slammed my fist into his jaw. He hit the ground hard, but two more came running toward me from behind. “Idiots” I muttered, pulling out my gun and firing a quick shot. One of them dropped instantly, but the other kept coming, swinging a metal pipe like a maniac. I ducked, kicked his leg out from under him, and smashed my elbow into his face. Blood splattered across my shirt. Then I saw headlights approaching fast. A black SUV. My stomach dropped. Shit. These weren’t random thugs. They were coming for me. More men spilled out of the SUV, all dressed in black, guns in hand. I didn’t wait for them to aim. I fired twice, taking cover behind a trash bin. The sound of bullets hitting metal rang in my ears. “Spread out!” one of them shouted. “Fuck this,” I hissed, reloading. I popped out and shot again, hitting one in the shoulder, but another bullet grazed my side, ripping through my shirt. Pain shot through my ribs like fire. I pressed my hand against the wound, my vision blurring for a moment. I had to move. Now. Running low, I dashed into a narrow alley and jumped over a fence, landing hard on my injured side. I gritted my teeth to stop a groan. The bastards followed me, their footsteps echoing through the night. I fired blindly behind me, just enough to slow them down. I needed to disappear before they cornered me. I turned another corner, climbed up a stack of crates, and hauled myself onto the rooftop of a nearby building. My chest burned, blood dripping down my fingers as I pressed against the wound. From up there, I could see the alley below...three of them were still fucking looking for me. One of them looked up. “He’s on the roof!” “Damn it,” I cursed under my breath. I pulled the trigger again, taking one of them down. The others scattered for cover. I used the chance to limp across the rooftop, jumping onto the next building. My side screamed in pain, but I kept going until I couldn’t hear their voices anymore. When I finally stopped, I leaned against a wall, panting heavily. My hand came away soaked in blood. I tore off a piece of my shirt and tied it tightly around the wound. It wasn’t much, but it would stop the bleeding for now. “Could this night get any worse?” I muttered. It did. Because after barely escaping death, I had to face it all over again thanks to a tiny, stubborn little thing who nearly electrocuted me. I was limping through the alley, blood soaking my side, when I saw her. The same woman from the club. She was walking alone, clutching her bag like it was a life vest. Perfect. Just what I needed, a witness. I was about to turn the other way, but my legs gave out and I dropped to the ground with a thud. My vision went blurry, and the last thing I saw was her wide, terrified eyes staring down at me. Next thing I knew, pain shot through my body. Electricity. That little devil had tasered me. I groaned, barely conscious, trying to move, but my muscles refused to listen. She hit me again...this time with her shoe. Jesus,” I rasped to myself, grabbing her ankle before she could kill me completely. She screamed and started kicking like a wild cat. The woman had guts, I’ll give her that. When she finally bolted and disappeared, I exhaled sharply, lying there on the cold wet floor. I didn’t even have the energy to swear anymore. I didn’t plan on following her. I just didn’t have another choice. My head was spinning, and I was losing blood fast. If I passed out here, I’d be dead before sunrise. So, when I saw the apartments she had ran into, I dragged myself toward it. Step by step. And as fate would have it, she was still at her door trying to open it. She tried to scream again, of course. “Shhh” I shushed her, covering her mouth before she could shout. The next few minutes were a blur...a gun, her baseball bat, her panic. But in the end, I was inside. Bleeding all over her floor. And that’s when it hit me. I’d just escaped one death… only to walk straight into another. Because that little spitfire? She might actually kill me before the night was over. Then she decided to treat my wounds which was shocking. She was fearless, I would give her that. But she was also careless. So fucking careless.DANTE The room was quiet except for the sound of heavy breathing. Three men were tied to metal chairs in the middle of the basement. Blood stained the concrete floor beneath them. I stood by the table, slowly removing my gloves. None of them dared to look at me. They had tried to kill me two nights ago, now they were shaking like frightened animals. I pulled out the chair across from them and sat down calmly. My men stood behind me in silence. “I’m going to ask this once,” I said, my voice echoed softly in the cold room. “Who sent you?” The room stayed silent. None of them answered. The man in the middle kept his eyes on the floor like he was hoping the ground would open up and swallow him. The one on the left was breathing so hard his chest kept rising and falling. The third man tried to look brave, but the sweat running down the side of his face betrayed him. I watched them for a few seconds, then I smiled. Slowly, I stretched out my hand to the side
LYRAAs I sat in my father's office, I wondered about what he was going to say to me. In front of me was a huge expensive looking desk with files on it.My father sat on his leather chair, his gaze burrowing a hole through my skull. There was an awkward air around us but I didn't care. It was expected because we hadn't seen each other in ages.He cleared his throat, finally breaking the decades of silence."There will be a dinner party here for your sister's engagement in two days time and it's important that you attend as you will be meeting your fiance there." He said without a hint of warmth. My brows furrowed into a frown, my 'fiance?'I chuckled, amusement dancing in my eyes. "My fiance?" I asked to be sure I heard right."Yes." He replied, then he continued after a small pause, "Your engagement will take place next month."I scoffed, my grip tightening around the hem of my dress. "So this was why you asked me to come." I said calmly, my chest clenching in whatever emotions I was
LYRA Knock knock!!! A loud knock on the door jolted me awake. I groaned and rolled over, my heart racing like I had been caught doing something wrong. It took me a second to remember where I was. The massive soft bed I was in made me remember everything that happened last night or should I say, earlier today? I squinted my eyes and reached for the clock on the bedside table. The bright numbers told me it was way too early for my liking. Who on earth was knocking on my door this early? I cleared my throat and said a low, sleepy, “Come in.” after remembering that I wasn't in my apartment anymore. The door opened slowly, and the middle aged woman from earlier this morning stepped inside. She had the same calm look on her face, like she knew I would still be in bed, looking like a mess. “Good morning, miss Lyra,” she said gently. “Good morning,” I replied, sitting up and pulling the duvet closer to myself. She smiled. “You should freshen up and come downstairs. Everyone is wai
DANTE *Few hours ago in Mr Lombardi's office* "You didn't tell me you have two daughters." I said coldly as I sat on a leather chair in Mr Lombardi's office. He paused for a few seconds, before staring straight at me. "How did you know?" He asked with a slight frown but I didn't give a fuck. I smirked, but it didn't reach my eyes. "I have my ways." "Well...having two daughters doesn't change anything, you're still going to get married to Iris in two months." He waved his hands like it doesn't mean anything. "Iris isn't the first daughter," I paused, tapping my fingers on the Indian rosewood table in front of me. "I was promised the first daughter." I continued calmly but he knew better than to believe my calm facade. "She doesn't know anything about the contract, she's useless to you." He stated and I scoffed. "I didn't ask if she was useful or not," the tension in the room was now so thick that it could be sliced by a knife. "I marry the older child, and that's fina
LYRA I continued flailing around, waiting for an opportunity to break free and make a run for it but he made sure I was locked in place. I sighed inwardly with a scowl on my face as he walked out of the club with me on his shoulder like a lamb that was getting ready to be chopped. The cool night breeze hit my face and my butt that was almost peeking out of my short skirt and leggings. "Why are you doing this?" I asked, my voice was calm and collected, completely covering up my inner rage. "Why didn't you tell me you knew my father?" He paused for a second, then he continued taking long strides towards a black car that was parked right in front of the club. He didn't even bother to answer my question. He set me down gently and I immediately got ready to sprint but the warning glare in his eyes warned me otherwise. I took a deep breath, then felt a presence behind me, forcing me to turn. My face turned bright red when I saw who it was. It was the same man who had caught me and
LYRA Well, it’s not like I ever slept with him. He had plenty of other women to keep him satisfied, since he liked to say I was 'always too dry.' I decided to let them be and attend to other customers after a little while. His bimbo was already starting to get red in the face just by staring at me. Chuckling, I served them their drinks at their table and whispered to her, "Relax, he's all yours" then I made my way back to the counter. "I guess he still hasn't changed his ways." Sandra snorted and I scoffed. "Someone like him can never change, he's got pussy for a brain," I grumbled and we both laughed. The next few hours were going peaceful and normal but I couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. I turned towards the dark corner Sandra had pointed to before and I noticed the figure still sitting there. I felt uneasy, my phone hadn't rung the whole day which made me feel even more suspicious. I had ignored my dad's orders to go back home today and it was almost midnight bu
