14. In Chains

The light seemed too bright even from my closed lids and I groaned before turning around to bury myself deeper inside the blanket.

Wait?

Blanket?

I flipped open my eyes immediately, hissing when the bright sunlight streaming in from the large windows momentarily blinded me. I sat up on the bed but realized I couldn’t go further because my legs had been chained to the bed.

I didn’t bother struggling, for one, I was still too tired to do so, I could feel every bone in my body threatening to come out and my entire muscles felt sore, two, I knew it would be a complete waste of time trying to fight against the chains and I really didn’t have the strength to, three, the events of the previous night, or rather early that morning came back flooding my mind.

I leaned against the head of the bed and took a deep breath, closing my eyes as I went back into those woods running.
