Bryant's POV

We walked around the whole place slowly but carefully and for a while we found nothing but sands and rocks all around. Gia obviously looked tired and after a while probably due to her weak state but even with that she still refused to give in and rest.

I don't know what she was thinking but I couldn't watch her continue to stress herself like that so I acted like I was exhausted - not so much a lie when I really was close to being so - and then asked for time to rest.

Gia finally let up and rested besides me for a while.

The cold breeze blew past making me painfully aware that my jewels were on display - it wasn't like I was ashamed or anything. Also the way Gia kept looking at me hungrily while emitting such a mouthwatering scent was way too tempting. I wasn't sure I would be able to hold off on jumping her if she kept ogling me like that, so I made an excuse about wanting to relieve myself and went off on my own.

I felt bad lying to Gia but I couldn't tell her that I wa

NALIA'S POVI saw the look on both their faces. They absolutely did not want to even consider the possibility of working together, but they also seemed to want me enough to actually go for it.“Getting this done would require me to have a meeting with my rogues. I need to think of something that will make this arrangement seem more beneficial to them. But I think if you set your mind to it, you might actually be able to achieve this seemingly impossible fate.” Kalen said and I smiled so brightly.“Just let them know that achieving pack status won’t mean that they would stop being rogues. They just have to be a bit more mindful of a few rules. But it seems you already run a tight ship here. You said it yourself. They don’t go out to attack packs indiscriminately, and your set up here is already well organised. They’ll just move locations, and gain some recognition. Let them know that there will be no need for them to fight a war with my pack, because you will also have a legal pack of

NALIA’S POV“The best solution is to get the council of alphas to officially recognise Kalen’s pack and give him territory that’s closer to our pack.”Even before seeing the look on both of their faces, I knew it was a far-fetched idea. I don’t think it’s an impossible feat, it just won’t be easy. But nothing about the choices left to pick from was easy, so it was better to just take one plan and stick to it. After all, it was better than the alternative, which is war.“Nalia, can you hear yourself? What reason would the council possibly have for granting legitimacy to a rogue pack? We’re not even sure how strong his pack bonds are, and if he would actually be able to keep his rogues in line and follow the rules. And what of their crimes so far? Does it mean that they will go unpunished? Rogues have been attacking our packs and causing pack deaths.” Enzo said and Kalen scoffed.“Don’t act like your pack members don’t hunt rogues for sport. Besides, my rogues haven’t attacked anyone in

ENZO’S POV“Your father was a tyrant who harmed the pack a lot. He forcefully stole females from their mates, killed people for silly offences, among other heinous crimes. The pack came together to overthrow and banish him. It was only my father’s mercy that saved him from the death sentence.”I saw the look of shock on his face as I explained the story to him. Did he really not know about this? I wonder what lies his father had told him to make him think I had stolen his birthright. Though I wasn’t really surprised. I never met the male, but from what I had heard from my father and older members of the pack that could remember him, Landry was never straightforward or honest. He had nearly ruined the whole pack before he was finally overthrown. I never heard mention of a son he had though, so he must have conceived with a rogue. “So you have no claim to my pack, or any other. Your father was lucky to have been allowed to live despite his crimes, and I won’t hold any of his wrong doin

KALEN’S POV“Why would she choose a male that kidnapped her, and from what she said, locked her in a cell? And a rogue with nothing to offer but violence. You have no pack, no stability or anything of value to offer her.”Every word out of Enzo’s mouth just made me hate him more. And one of the reasons for my anger was because, in a way, he was right. If we were both judged based on different criteria for being a suitable mate, he would probably exceed me. He had a stable pack, recognised authority, and Nalia’s love. He also seemed more reasonable than me according to Nalia’s words to me previously, and deep down, I was a bit afraid that she would choose him over me.But she was still here, so that had to mean something right? She didn’t run away with him, instead, she was trying to get us both to listen to her. Though I think what she’s saying is absurd. Why would she be given two mates at the same time? It didn’t make much sense, even though I had felt the connection she was talking

ENZO’S POV“You both are my mates. I don’t belong to one person.”Hearing this from Nalia seemed so unbelievable. She had only been gone for a few days when one of my best trackers had finally caught a whiff of her scent. It had been a very faint trail, but eventually, we were able to trace it down to this area. Then we encountered the next problem. The area was crawling with rogues. They almost seemed more organised than other rogues. And they even had a border that they patrolled. It wouldn’t be easy to get inside to check for Nalia, but since her scent trail led us here, we had no choice but to infiltrate.Due to the level of coordination we witnessed from the rogues, we had to read more carefully. The best option had been to stage an attack as a distraction while one person would sneak in during the chaos to search for and rescue Nalia. Naturally, I volunteered to be the one to sneak in and find her. There was no way I was entrusting my mate in any other person’s hands but mine.

NALIA’S POVKalen barged into the room, and he was furious. He was also in wolf form, so I knew it would be harder to reason with him. He immediately lunged at Enzo, going straight for the kill, aiming at Enzo’s neck. Enzo dodged, and prepared to shift and battle Kalen, but I got in between them.“Kalen, stop. Now.” I said, and he growled at me, with his eyes still fixed on Enzo.“Kalen. Please. I need you to listen to me. Shift back so we can talk.”“Nalia, why are you begging him? Move out of the way. I can handle him. This is the male whose scent is all over you. I will make sure he regrets forcing himself on you, and hurting you.” Enzo growled.“He didn’t force himself on me, Enzo.”“So you’re saying he’s a good male? Is that it? You’re defending him?”“No, Enzo. I never said he was good. Sure, he kidnapped me. And he also did some things that aren’t nice, like locking me in a cell. But what he didn’t do was force himself on me. Blame him for the things he did, not the things he d
