1. Mother Of Girls

Elysia’s POV:

I woke up with a groan, shutting my eyes tighter hoping it would help with the blooming headache forming behind my eyes. I shouldn’t have cried so much last night. I thought to myself as I turned around in the small dingy bed that croaked as I moved. I sniffed pitifully before slowly opening my eyes which felt like they had been glued shut. The darkness in the room comforted me a little, although I knew it was still pretty early and all the other girls in the room were still asleep it was good to know that no one could watch me be miserable.

Last night had been the worst night of my life, which was saying a lot because working in Miss Tanya’s house guaranteed that every night was horrible but I had been hoping all of that would change last night.

I had turned nineteen and performed my coming-of-age ritual and the heartbreak that had come when I walked out of the healer’s hut as a white omega wolf had been more devastating than losing my parents.

It meant that there was no hope of ever leaving Miss Tanya’s home and gaining freedom I would work here until an Alpha or a Beta purchased me and used me as they pleased for the rest of my days. A silent sob burst through my mouth at the thought and I struggled to contain it so as not to wake the other girls up.

I heard footsteps coming down the hall and I knew who it was even before I heard her high-pitched obnoxious voice.

“Wake up all you pieces of shit! I don’t feed and house you so you can sleep the best part of the day off. Get up before I make you!” Miss Tanya’s voice rang in the room at the same time that the bright light flooded the room.

Although I had been awake for what felt like an hour already, I didn’t feel ready enough to get out of bed. I wanted the opportunity to snuggle into the thin sheet that we were provided and cry some more at my misfortune but I didn’t get that luxury and I probably never would. Sighing heavily, I kicked the sheets off my frame before tucking in my bed properly and moving to the bathroom stall that now had the other girls flooding the small space.

“Good morning Elysia, did you sleep well?” Lucy, one of the girls who lived in the home and one of my only friends asked and I offered her a small smile.

I wondered how she always managed to stay cheery all the time in this dreadful place. She was an orphan like myself but she was yet to perform the coming of age ritual as she wasn’t nineteen yet. I wondered if she would still have such a cheery attitude if she ended up being a white omega wolf like myself.

“Yeah. Thank you for asking.” My voice betrayed the words that came out of my throat and the look of pity that flashed in Lucy’s eyes made my eyes full with tears again.

“It’s not the end of the world Elysia. You’ll be fine, maybe a really good Alpha or Beta would purchase you eventually and you’ll get the happy ever after that you deserve.” Lucy said and I chuckled bitterly.

I knew that she was only trying to help but it was far-fetched. All white omega wolves were good for was their child-bearing gift and because of how rare we were, we often fell into the wrong hands. The desperate hands. We never got a happy ever after, or even a happy ever before. I would be sold to some Alpha that would lock me up in a room, force himself on me, and breed me whenever he pleased so I produced perfect and strong children for him. The thought alone sent a shudder down my frame.

“I doubt that would happen Lucy, but I appreciate the kind words,” I said softly and my friend moved closer to me to pull me into her arms.

“You’ll be fine. There’s no auctioning scheduled to happen for now, so don’t concern yourself with those kind of thoughts and just enjoy the moments you still have to spend in this house.” She said and I nodded, squeezing her tightly beside finally letting go of her.

Lucy was right. There was no auction scheduled to happen anytime soon and I had the opportunity to make the most of the time that I had till the next auction. Hopefully, the Goddess spared me and I wasn’t sold so quickly. I hurried through my bath as I heard Tanya’s voice ring through, threatening to cut off the water if we didn’t hurry up.

Once I was done with my bath and had hurried into the tattered uniform that I had owned for years, I made my way to the kitchen where I was assigned for the week. Working as a maid in Tanya’s home wasn’t the worst thing once you got used to it, for the most part, she left us to do our thing and once we were finished with our assigned chores, we had the liberty to do whatever we wished as long as we were back to the house before dinner.

Tanya was known as the Mother of girls. She housed the rogue girls, orphans, and those who had nowhere else to go and we worked in her house until we were old enough to be auctioned off.

The atmosphere in Tanya's home was a peculiar blend of despair and unease, for while she provided us with a roof over our heads and food, we knew that in the long run, we would be sold off. It was a knowledge that every girl that came to her dealt with but it didn’t make it easier when the time came.

I had found myself knocking on her door when my parents had been brutally murdered during the raid by the Alpha King five years before. It wasn’t my fondest memory and so I snapped out of my thoughts the moment the image of my mother’s bloodied body flashed through my mind but ever since then I had lived under Tanya’s roof as one of her girls, but I knew that my time here would come to an end soon.

Maybe even sooner than I could have ever imagined.
