I stared at her, at the frown on her face and the determination etched between her brows.

She meant it, if I continued holding onto her, she would scream.

I felt a flash of pain behind my eyes. Did she like him that much? Enough to risk defying me?

“Fine.” I spat out. “Since you want to do this here, we can do it here.”

I was vaguely aware of the eyes of several of my subjects watching me, some trying to be discreet, others watching with full attention.
