Chapter 43 I had to do something

Elena POV

I stood stock still in the living room and stared blankly at the tv for a long time, long past when the reporter moved to another piece of news. But I couldn’t hear anything past the roaring in my ears.

Draven. My Draven.

With shaky hands, I finally dialed that number and held the phone to my ear only to hear a cold mechanical voice:

“The person you’re calling cannot be reached at this time.”

No. I had to do something, anything.

I raced to my room and back downstairs after throwing on the first pair of shoes I could find. I didn’t even know what color it was.

At the door, I was stopped by a guard with a scowl on his face. Their leader. Everyone else accommodated me when I had tried to talk to them, everyone except him. All day, everyday, he walked around with a frown on his face like someone owed him money.

“Where do you wish to go Luna?” He asked, polite but unnervingly firm. “I’ll send someone to get whatever you want immediately.”
