LOGINElena POV
I glanced at Draven, confused but his expression was even more confused. A wave of anxiety suddenly rose inside my stomach. Was something really wrong with me? What if it was something that couldn't be fixed, what would I do then? The witch doctor was muttering incantations again now. I could sense an urgency in her tone as she knelt and drew different symbols on the ground with ash. A few of them looked like animals and I almost certain the one at the far left was a wolf. She knelt for a long time, switching between incantations and singing at intervals. Her song sent shivers through me and I glanced at my arm to see goosebumps had risen on my skin. I breathed as quietly as possible so as not to disturb her. She only rose to her feet after placing the ash on her tongue. She stumbled a little while rising and I rushed to help her. “I can’t help you Alpha.” She said to Draven, her eyes still widened with fear. Draven frowned. He was displeased. I could hear it in his tone as he demanded. "What do you mean you can’t help me? My mate, your Luna is suffering from an attack. It’s your duty as witch doctor to find a solution.” The witch doctor replied softly, trying to ease his anger. “It’s not that I don’t want to help you Alpha, but I can’t. What plagues luna is a curse, an ancient curse.” She bowed her head, ashamed. “I’m afraid I’m not strong enough to counter it.” “A curse.” Draven repeated, turning to look at me. I’m as stunned as he is. “Child.” The witch doctor turned to me again, her voice warm. “Can you tell me when you started experiencing this?” I spared a quick glance at Draven. His face was blank. “I think it started not long ago witch doctor, at my old pack. When I rejected the mate bond between my previous mate and I, I suddenly felt as if something had been loosened within me. I thought it was the mate bond falling away at the time but now I think it was the curse.” I finished with a whisper. The witch doctor was pacing the room in excitement now. “I think I know what it is now. I heard of something like this before from my grandmother while I was still a child. I can’t believe I actually get to see it with my own eyes. This is incredible.” “What is it witch?” Draven asked impatiently. I kept silent but I was just as impatient as he was. If she knew what it was then she must have a way to solve it. “It’s not a curse Alpha.” The witch doctor cried out, excitedly. “Okay it’s a curse, but not one that’s meant to harm her. It acts more like a seal.” “A seal?” Draven and I asked in unison. “Yes, a seal.” The witch doctor continued “In ancient times, such curses were used to seal great power until the bearer was strong enough to wield it or until the curse weakened. They usually last at least twenty years before they need to be reinforced. How old are you child?” She asked turning to me. “Twenty six. witch doctor.” I answered grimacing. What if Draven thought I was too old and didn't want me as his mate anymore? What would I do? I couldn't go back to my old pack, not after rejecting the alpha in front of the whole pack. Going back there would be a death sentence. I shuddered, death might even be a light sentence compared to what they might do to me. I didn't need any further proof of their cruelty. Draven was looking at me. I could feel his stare. He was probably wondering why I was suddenly panicking, but he didn’t say anything. He just moved closer to me and let his pheromones wash over me. My heart rate calmed down considerably and I managed a small smile, expressing my thanks but he only responded with a nod. The witch doctor was muttering again “If you’re just twenty six then it shouldn’t be that the curse weakened, it’s more likely that the curse determined that you were strong enough to bear your power now.” I swallowed thickly but couldn’t stop myself from asking “What kind of power was it witch doctor? What did you see?" The witch doctor visibly stiffened at my question, her lips parted for a while but no sound came out. Then she let out a trembling exhale and said “I saw darkness child. It was like I had come face to face with an abyss that wanted to swallow me whole.” She shuddered and continued “Only goddess knows how much stronger it would be once the seal finally wears off completely.”Elena POV I turned back in alarm as a yell came from behind me, only to see the glint of metal in the cook’s hand, as she lunged straight towards me. Move. My brain screamed at me but I couldn’t. For some reason, my body had frozen and completely shut down. Right as I tightly closed my eyes to brace myself for the pain, I heard the sickening sound of flesh tearing up as a knife sank into it. A sweat drop rolled down my neck and my heart drummed fiercely against my ribs as I waited for the pain. It felt like hours had passed, not seconds when I opened my eyes again to find the head cook collapsed backwards on the floor and a suspiciously red liquid spreading out around her. “What happened?” My voice shook as I asked Lucas who now stood still at my side, just staring at the cook. The question had barely left my lips when he let out a groan and his legs gave out under him. “The knife,” he gasped as I caught him, veins prominent on his neck, “pull it out quickly.” “I-I can’t,” I
Elena POVA knock.I walked quickly to the door, my thighs still aching from yesterday, yet in my heart I couldn’t stop a small blooming hope that I would find Draven on the other side.Immediately after having breakfast, I’d left his room and went back to mine wearing his clothes. Though they did a very good job in hiding my unsteady steps, I feared that nothing could hide the fact that I hadn’t slept in my room last night. All it would take was one look and everyone could probably tell exactly what had happened yesterday.“Lucas!” My smile wavered as I wrenched open the door to find him there, “what are you doing here?”“There’s a matter that requires your attention Luna,” his face was grim.My heart thumped once. Was it Draven?“What is it?”“It’s…” he curled his lip in distaste, “the head cook Luna, we’ve found more evidence of her crimes. Not only has she been diverting resources meant for the palace, there are also signs that she may have been in contact with rogues.”I frowned,
Elena POV He made a low, strangled sound in his throat and slipped a warm finger inside me. I gasped at first, it felt so foreign, but quietened down soon after. This wasn’t so bad. His eyes searched mine as he thrust furiously inside me a few times. Are you okay? Is this okay? They seemed to ask. I nodded slightly. I could probably take another finger or two. “More.” He immediately added another finger and I shifted on the bed trying to adjust to this new addition, when he curled up his fingers inside me and started thrusting faster. His other hand cupped my breasts, one at a time, and he ran his rough thumb over my nipples, drawing out a gasp from me. Heat shot up straight to my brain and my thighs clenched tightly around his hand, only to be spread open again by his other hand. He scissored his fingers inside me and thrust even faster, filling me to the brim, while the other hand rubbed slow circles around my clit. “Please,” I begged as a moan slipped out, h
Elena POV “What are you doing?” He growled while holding on so tightly to my wrist, that I was sure it would leave a mark. “Your hair!” I yelped, “I-I I was just trying to push it back in place.” He stared silently at me for a long moment before releasing my hand and letting it plop back into my lap. I let out a soft sigh of relief as he moved away to clean up the water that had splashed all over the floor. I reclined back into my chair and watched him for a bit while slowly massaging my wrist, “what? I can’t touch you now?” “You can,” he said simply, not even lifting his head to look at me. My eyes widened, “then why— “ He looked up at me from where he was crouched on the ground, raising an eyebrow, “you can touch me, but, are you ready to handle the consequences?” “Consequences? What are you— “ Oh. Instantly, my face and neck heated up so much that I may have as well been in a boiler room. I crossed and uncrossed my legs, “how can you say something like that…so easily?”
Elena POVAlmost instantly, he moved back and pulled his hand away, averting his gaze from mine. “it’s no longer important.”I narrowed my eyes at him, “tell me.”He stared at me in silence for so long that I began to question if he had even heard the statement. Just as I was about to ask again, he spoke,“Why didn’t you tell her no?”I blinked once. Twice. Then carefully, I asked, “why didn’t I tell who, no?”He huffed out a long breath like he was annoyed, yet he held my gaze. “Cassandra. Why didn’t you refuse when she brought up the topic of us going on a hunt by ourselves.”My jaw dropped open, “but you’re not going by yourselves, Alpha Caleb is going along with you.”I shook my head to refocus, “wait, hold on. Is this the question you wanted to ask me?“Why?” His voice was low, calm, yet behind it I could hear the a hint of tension, “Is there something wrong with the question?”“No,” I quickly explained, “it’s just not what I was expecting.”His voice dropped lower as he stroked
Elena POV“I didn’t really see the animal that attacked me clearly,” I said slowly as I recalled exactly how I had gotten injured, “It slammed into me from behind so I really had no chance to get a good look at it. All I managed to see was its brown fur.”“Oh,” her features softened in sympathy, “that’s such a pity. What do you say we hunt it down?” She said brightly and I groaned internally. “It would provide a fun activity for us and we could also get revenge for you Luna.”“Oh I’m fine,” I shook my head in refusal, there was no way I was going to agree to another hunt. Not when I still had the medals from the last one. I looked down at my ankle. “I don’t really care that much besides, it’ll heal pretty soon.”“I insist.” She turned to Draven, her eyes twinkling, “what do you think Alpha? Don’t you think we should help Luna get her revenge?”Draven’s deep voice reverberated across the room. “Elena hasn’t fully healed yet, we can talk about the hunt again once she’s better.”She qu
