Don't look up

Tala had two bags over her shoulders containing the many wooden spikes she has made, in her one hand the shovel, in the other a torch, some areas under the trees of the forest are so dark not even her night vision can reveal it.

"You're late!" She said as Helen joined.

"Yes, I met with the Omega scouts to find out where the invading wolves were spotted"

Tala realised that's valid "Good work then"

"Let's head out, we check the south of the compound, the scouts are looking for the invaders north"

"Understood"

The two set off down the slopes, not too fast, not too slow, they were only two and had loads of ground to cover, but couldn't move too fast, otherwise they might trip one of their own traps, or miss something.

Tala stopped and scanned, this part has a flat section before the slopes rise again "Wait quick"

Helen stopped "You see something?"

"No, cover me, I'm setting a new trap"

Helen took high ground as Tala started digging a one by one meter hole, and about two meters deep, it was fairly easy, werewolves have strength enough to make manual labour seem like child's play.

In the hole she had one of her bags and spiked the pikes into the ground one by one, when she was done it looked like a giant porcupine sat quills up down there, it was a deadly trap.

Tala took a woven net and carefully covered the hole, then camouflaged it with the surrounding foliage downfall, she then stood back, Helen came next to her.

"Well done, as always" She complimented Tala.

"I want to place one more, let's continue"

They set off again, it was a good start, both gave compliments to one another, and there was slightly less friction between them.

In the corner of Tala's eye she saw Helen look up, but down quickly.

"Hey!" She said loudly between her teeth and gave Helen a shove, but it was too late, Helen looked at the moon, Omegas are not allowed to see the Luna goddess unless and Alpha is present "What have you done!?"

Helen stood with her eyes wide looking at the ground, Tala could see she struggled to keep her focus on the dirt, she wanted to look up again.

"Helen you bitch!" Tala dove her to the ground and pinned her head face first into the leaves "Forget you saw her! Forget her!"

"I can't! I want to look!"

Their little trap scout just went sour fast, an Omega can't control itself without the guidance of an Alpha, therefore it's forbiddin for them to look up...

"Let me...!"

"You're going to cause your own death here Helen!" Tala yelled but it was her own life she truly feared, if Helen shifts here she's going to tare at anything that moves.

Tala saw her ears already sprout through her thick brown hair, against her pelvis she felt the tail come out and brush against the inside of her leg, the noises of the muscles pushing into her clothes, and not long the tares and pops of strained cloth and snapping buttons.

Tala was thrown clear into the air, she didn't realise Helen would gain that much strength that quickly, she landed on her fours and erected to see Helen tare at her clothes, but her face, fangs and all came to Tala, she seemed sad "I'm, I'm sorry, they made me do it..."

Tala felt cold "Who!? Do what!?"

Sanity vanished from the mind of Helen and she roared, what was left of her clothes now shreaded under the strain if her muscles, her size doubling, her muzzle long, and fangs sharp.

"Bugger..." Tala said and ran for it.

Behind her the howl pierced the forest, the hunt was on, her scent the freshest from there, Helen was going to come for her! The question is how fast!? She was never hunted by an omega before, or any werewolf for that matter! Only fought them in square off battles! "Fuck–! Lunpa–!" She screamed to her clan, hopefully someone somewhere would hear her.

If no one was to come! Then Tala had only one choice left, look at the lunar goddess as well, sure she might lose control, but when the rage fades that would indicate she survived, if she survived!

She glanced over her shoulder just in time to see the large brown werewolf blast through the brush and came at her with deadly speed 'No way... There's no way I can outrun her...'

Tala knew looking at the moon now was pointless, she'd die before her shift finished, last split second thoughts made her think, why didn't she lead Helen to her trap? To late for that now...

Tala braced for impact but there was an escalated roar from behind, it sounded like more than one, Tala turned to see Mike plow into Helen and take her down instantly.

Tala was almost blown over with relief, Mike had the clear advantage pinning Helen down effortlessly and roaring at her face to get her in order, but to her and his dismay Helen did not heed, she was still attempting to get free of Mike's grip, roaring savagely and taring at him.

Mike attempted another roar to force her obedience but Helen would not give, Tala realised this, horrified she saw Mike had no choise but to end her...

Silence returned to the surrounding forest again, even the crickets went mute at the roars of the beasts, Tala felt her heart in her chest, this time she really thought she was done for, and it wasn't even an enemy!

"Mike! My mat..." She wanted to say but held her words, he wasn't her mate any more.

"How could you allow this to happen!?" Mike roared at her and she shook.

"How did I allow...!?"

"I gave specific instruction not to look at the moon whilst traveling without an Alpha!"

"And do in look like I disobeyed!? I'm still alive and human! It's Helen the dead wolf who looked up!"

"As soon as you set off, the agreement, the rule should be repeated among the two of you... What is that rule...?"

"Don't look up" She said averting her eyes from the large wolf in front of her.

"Why did she look up!?"

"I dont know!? I saw in the side of my eye her head glance at her! I didn't say she should! She... She said..."

"She said what!?"

"She said, she's sorry, she was forced into it..."

"Trying to cover yourself now? Making up allabies as you go!?"

Tala looked at him, her neck bent well back to see his eyes high "I will not lie! Why would I lie!?"

"Back to the compound! To your house!"

She shriveled just as the rest of the pack arrived, they saw Helen dead on the forest floor, then their glaring eyes fell on her next.

"Yes... Alpha..." She said without choice and left.
