Stray from the path

Her hand reaches the door but the thud that shook the ground under her feet made Tala shriek and turn.

Mike lifted himself from his landing hunch and she followed his eyes as he rose, her face felt hot, he was hot, Tala couldn't get over how good looking Mike was.

"M, Mike"

"Save it" He said just as the rest if the Alpha's landed behind him "Go in" he gestured and she opened the door of her small one bedroom house.

She stood in deep allowing the three main Alpha's to enter, Mike stood first, then Sabrina the freshman, and third was another male named Nathan, her poor little house barely big enough to fit the three wolves.

"Now, slowly without your stutter, calmly, and clearly! Explain what happened to Helen!"

She dropped her bag of spikes and folded her arms "Don't fucking start this with me Mike! You Alpha buggers are probably glad she's dead! Who wants a female that can't produce pups anyway right!?"

"Silence!" Mike roared making Tala regret her words "One more witty snap from you! And the next snap after that will be your neck!"

She swallowed and collected herself, scanning their faces, Mike was furious, Sabrina with her usual smirk, and Nathan, who always wanted to find the good in anyone... Why didn't she just link with Nathan in the first place!? He's way more understanding, and way better looking than Mike...

"Tala!"

"She... Before she lost sanity she turned to me, and said, and I quote 'I'm sorry, they told me to do it' I still wanted to ask what she meant but had to flee"

"She looked up out of her own accord?" Nathan asked.

"Yes Alpha, I saw her do it out of the corner of my eye, it was just a glance, and before she tried to take another look I dove her into the ground and forced her face into the foliage... But it was too late, her wolf saw the goddess"

"Mike said you two didn't repeat the rule to one another?" Sabrina asked, Tala knew this bitch would still dig up the dirt no matter how much Tala tried to clean it.

"We didn't, repeat the rule to each other"

"Why!? It's something you use to remind yourself! And you all take me for a fool by disobeying a simple rule like that! Now you see why I implemented it! Now you see the consequences of your disobedience!"

Nailing her on that one thing, Tala knew she should never look up, it was grinded into her like religion, her wolf is a mixbreed after all... And it tends to get messy "I, have nothing to defend myself with, we didn't repeat the rule to each other, I, confess I'm just as guilty"

Nathan sighed and looked at the other two "As we heard she attempted to stop Helen, but it was too late"

Mike turned to him and snarled "Initially Nathan! She failed to adhere to my first most important rule!"

"You, you're right, it could have been avoided"

Mike's fury came back to Tala "Tomorrow at twelf when the Alphas have slept off the wolf fatigue, you are to join us in the meeting hall"

"Yes, Alpha..."

The three bended low and stepped out, Mike almost shattered her door so hard he slammed it making Tala bounce.

What were they going to do? Exile her? There's no such thing in the Lunpa clan, the only punishment for serious disobedience is death... Death...

She looked at her trembling hands, this was it, Tala felt it was fifty percent her fault, fifty percent Helen's, but still, she was now going to receive a hundred percent the punishment...

She didn't want it, she, she was afraid! Tala didn't want to die! Not this young! Only seventeen and already her coffin is being hammered together! And why!? Because someone looked up!?

No! She will not tolerate this! She won't be subdued to this unfair dismissal of her life! For better it worse she had to get out! The best time to do it was morning as soon as the moon set, all the wolves will shift back, and be at their most tired, then when they all fall asleep, Tala will flee this wretched life!

She started pacing up and down thinking, tomorrow night there is still another full moon, and if Helen the Omega moved as fast as she could, then Tala couldn't imagine how fast an Alpha would be, probably twice as fast, so...

Since going on foot is her only option, she needed to move to a position where she could hide for the moon, but where!?

Her mother said the direction of her father's clan was due north of here, so north was her direction, question was how far?

Next she needed a contingency plan to help her should the moon come and she didn't get to a safe place, Tala looked at her bag of pikes, then smiled, that should work perfectly.

Thing is about trying to escape a werewolf is they can follow your scent no matter where you run, good thing for her is she can just place traps all along her scent line, it won't stop them, but atleast slow them down.

She was anxious, this means she will desert the Lunpa and become a stray, or no, a stray has lost the path, she purposefully ran from it, guess that's a rogue then.

Then rogue it is, she'd rather have faught a losing battle fang and claw, than die on her knees in front of an Alpha who didn't give a fuck about her.

The night passed, she didn't get ready to move whilst the big ears of wolves were still outside roaming, when the rays of the sun touched the compound she darted to get her things, packed a small bag, grabbed her pikes and went for the door.

Outside was quiet, she liked it that way, no one to see her now. She closed the door quietly and headed south, she had a plan to throw them off first, as she came to the edge of the compound down a hollor she froze when almost walking into Nathan, who was still bare naked.

She peeped and swung away "N... I mean Alpha!"

She heard him chuckle "Off for a quick stroll Tala?"

Her face hot, her cheeks red, damn he was good looking, she had a quick peek before she swung but that was enough to have her imagination work overtime now.

Nathan came up next to her, he was dragging a dead elk behind him "I forgot my meat supply was low, so I went on a last minute hunt, unfortunately the sun caught up with me"

"Yeah, oh, ok then..." She tried looking at his eyes, don't look down! Dont look down!

"Where are you heading?"

"Off, to, place the last trap! Yeah! I didn't get time last night!"

"Ok then..." He said and walked past her to the compound, Tala drooled over his hindquarters "In oldmans terms we used to say, don't stray off the beaten path..."

She blinked when he looked back at her.

"Remember to stray far Tala, so that not even you can find this place again"

Tala was baffled, he knew! He figured it out! But he kept walking on ignoring her desertion!

Her heart pounded, he truly should have been the lead Alpha, he is kind and understanding.

Tala took a good look at his body again then turned into the forest running, her plan was to run to all their traps and allow her scent to cover them, especially that new one of last night, only she knows of it.

She made her way around the compound passing every trap, then finally heading north, her wolf surfacing partially to give her speed, she was running for freedom now, and wanted out as fast as she could.
