“Can we go?” May asked “We are done with the papers for the day” she yawned“Yes sure” I rushed towards her avoiding eye contact with Elliott as I walked past him “See you tomorrow Nova” he waved with a sly smile on his face“Bye Elliott,” I said not turning back to look at him“What is that look?” I heard Dylan ask as we walked awayWe both walked to the parking lot quietly not saying a word to each other. I kept hoping she would stay quiet but I could see it in the way she kept glancing at me. Her hands moved like she wanted to fidget and her lips pressed together like she was holding the words back. I knew she was itching to say something and I waited for the moment she would finally let it out.“You and Dylan have gotten quite close,” she said when we got to the front of her car“He was going to get punished if a teacher had walked in” I tried to explain myself “Not just this,” she said“You guys going on rides together, him showing up at your house, even at the wedding when I
People gathered around him but the only difference was that people didn’t have their phones out recording thanks to the no phone rule in school.I was debating what to do Do I just walk away and pretend like I didn’t see anything? But if the teacher walked in he would be in trouble especially since he messed him up so bad and it was in front of the whole school. He might not be able to get off with a slap on the wrist. He had been helpful to me and I couldn’t just walk away. The boy threw a punch across his lips busting it open and Dylan pushed him hard to the ground, got on top of him, and began to punch him across the face repeatedly and no one tried to stop him they just watched.I rushed through the crowd to the scene and tried to yank him off by tugging on his shirt but that wasn’t enough to stop him. Without thinking crunched low and I held his hand to stop him from hitting the boy. The boy’s face was bruised and swollen, he had blood running out of both his nose and his mouth,
I woke up before the alarm rang, and for a second, I forgot what day it was. But then a feeling settled in my chest, and that brought it back to me. It was my first day back. After skipping school and acting like that part of me didn’t exist anymore, it was time to finally resume as school was starting. My chest felt tight all of a sudden as the thoughts settled in. I had been in the house for so long that it almost felt wrong to leave. It wasn’t going to be all bad because it wasn’t like I didn’t know what to expect once I walked back in that was better than going in not knowing what to expect. Some people would talk about the post-incident, some would talk about the wedding, while others would have a lot to blame me for about the no-electronics rule in school premises. Hopefully, that doesn’t stand for too long so fewer people would be on my assI dragged my legs out of bed and hopped into the shower, had a quick shower before scanning through my wardrobe to find something comforta
The reception came by and people were dancing, eating, and having fun. I was exhausted already, and having a smile plastered on my face all through the day was tiring. I had countless numbers of pictures taken of me, it was nothing less than a hundred times. My feet were tired from walking around in those heels. I needed a foot massage.I tried to find May but spotted her in the middle of the dance floor dancing like she had no worries in the world. A smile grew on my face as I shook my head at her, she waved at me and signaled that I join her but I just laughed and went away.“Hey darling” I turned around to see May’s mom behind me, I was so happy to see her that I jumped on her instantly “You look so beautiful” she smiled“Not as beautiful as you do, red looks marvelous on you,” I told her“Don’t flatter me” she playfully slapped my shoulder“You didn’t come with Leon?” I asked“I wasn’t in the mood to chase him around” she laughed“Awwn my poor baby” I pouted and she just laughed
NOVAThe dress hugged every inch of my body showing off every curve, somehow the folds were visible even with how it hugged my body. The dress was a black mermaid dress that hugged my body, giving me an hourglass figure I did not know existed. It held tight until my knees, then flowed to the floor. It was a single-strap dress that sat neatly on my shoulder. The diamond necklace blinked at every little turn I made, and matching earrings caught the light every time I moved. My curled hair was left down over my shoulders, leaving me looking unrecognizable and different, as I always wore it up in a ponytail. The black heels made the dress brush the floor as I walked.I stared at my reflection and for a moment I just stood there quiet not knowing what to say.“You look beautiful,” the stylist said smiling down at his work with so much admiration “Thank you” I gave him a little smileI felt that way too, I didn’t think he was telling me to make me feel better because the person that stared
NOVAAfter we had breakfast we were driven to a hotel where we were to get ready and that was also the venue for the wedding. My mom was swiped away the minute she stepped out of the car while I had to find my room but before I did, I wandered away to the hall and I was blown away by the size of it and the decor that went into it. I kept looking around with my mouth open, the lights were already on and the whole place glowed white and soft. Curtains covered the walls and touched the floor, smooth and shining like fresh silk. Rows of tables were set neatly waiting for people to fill them up. Each one had a tall glass vase with white and pink flowers leaning out. The chairs were wrapped in white cloth with silver ribbons tied at the back. The floor was so clean I could see the shine of the lights on it. Along the sides, small glass cups held candles that flickered a little even though there was no wind. At the front, a wide stage stood under a big arch of white roses and green leaves.
