I didn’t say anything. I just pulled her into me, one hand coming up to cradle the back of her head, pressing her gently against my shoulder.

“It’s okay,” I murmured. “Hey… it’s okay. I’ve got you.”

Her body stayed tense for a second. Then, just barely, it softened. I held her like that for a moment longer before standing, turning back to the couple.

And this time, I didn’t bother softening anything.

“So this,” I scoffed, “is what you came over here to do? Barking at a child without even knowin

On entering the kitchens fully, the scene that laid before me broke my heart. I saw Flora sitting on the cold floor near the cabinets, her arms wrapped tightly around herself as she cried. For a second, I just stood there. All the anger I had been holding onto… it didn’t disappear, but it softened, tangled with something heavier.Guilt.I took a deep breath trying to calm myself down as I knew this wasn’t something anger would sort. Flora had always been gentle. Sensitive. She had never handled confrontation well, never responded well to raised voices. And whatever she did… she did it because she loved me. That’s why she was jealous of seeing me with another woman. I had known her for years and I had never seen her act like that before. So this… this had to mean something.I forced myself to stay calm as I walked closer and lowered myself beside her.She didn’t look up.I crouched in front of her, hesitating for a second before reaching out—but the moment my hand moved toward her,

Flora lifted her gaze to meet mine over Genevieve’s head, and I already knew what was coming before she even opened her mouth.“I can’t believe Charlotte would do something like this,” she said, her voice tightening. “She knows how sensitive Genevieve is, and she still goes ahead and does something so careless.”I stayed silent, my jaw tightening.“How do you go to your own child’s school and not even look for her?” Flora continued, her tone sharpening. “After everything this child has been through? Is Charlotte crazy?!”“Flora,” I said sharply. Can’tshe see that she’s only making things worse. I also know what Charlotte did wasn’t good but was it a must for her to say it out?But Flora didn’t stop. “She’s doing this on purpose, Clyde.” she went on. “She’s angry at you, so she’s taking it out on Genevieve. Using a child to make a point… what kind of mother does that?”“Flora!” I snapped, that even Genevieve flinched in my arm.And this time Flora fell quiet immediately.I didn’t eve

***CLYDE’S POV***I tapped my foot restlessly as I stared at my phone, watching the video views climb higher and higher like people were actually enjoying this.Ten million views! That number alone made my chest tighten. But the comments were worse. They weren’t just talking about me—they were dragging my entire family, tearing into my wife like she was some kind of public enemy. And the caption underneath, already shared over forty thousand times, only made it worse.“Sinclair heiress humiliated by Clyde Wellington’s wife at a private event.”“Wellington family drama unfolds as the sister-in-law slaps Clyde Wellington’s wife after humiliating the Sinclair heiress. Is this the beginning of the Wellington family’s downfall? The internet wants answers.”“Fuck…” I ran a hand through my hair, trying to think, trying to come up with something—anything but my mind felt completely blank.I had done everything in my power to take the video down, but it was all useless. Every time one post got

Barking at a child without even knowing what your own son has been saying?”The woman blinked, thrown off. “E..E..Excuse me? Barking?”“Yes, barking. Because I can’t believe two grown up adults will come and be bullying a kid all because of a fight between two kids. No wonder why your son turned out to be such a bully.”“Oh my God. Oh my God. This woman has totally lost it. How can she be talking to us like that when it’s her child who just bullied our son.”Her husband stepped forward immediately, already puffed up. “Hey woman, I w

After asking Lucy to list out everything she wanted to do today, I couldn’t help but laugh at how long the list turned out to be. Still, I promised her we’d do as much as we could and save the rest for another day.We visited three different places until we finally ended up at the park. And the moment we spotted an ice cream shop, we rushed toward it, hand in hand, and joined the queue. It seemed we were both craving something cold after all that walking and playing. When it got to our turn, I ordered two ice creams—two scoops for her, one for me. But she chose the strawberry ones which were only one scoop and that’s when I realized I should have asked her what flavor she wanted.I gave it to her and just as she took it, it started running down the side of her hand faster than either of us expected.Seeing her trying to stop it with her mouth, I quickly pulled a tissue from my bag and wiped her hand, then gently cleaned the edge of her mouth as we walked toward the park, where other

Hearing that, Lucy stopped and then turned back around. Slowly. Like she was doing it against her will.I let my shoulders drop, lowered my head, pressed my lips together and looked up at her from under my brows, doing my very best impression of a child who knew they had done wrong and felt terrible about it. Which wasn't entirely an act.Lucy stared at me for a while. "You have to make it up to me," she said finally. Her voice was still a little stiff. Still carrying the leftover edges of hurt. "Properly."I said almost immediately."Of course. Absolutely. Whatever you want.""Today," she said. "Just us.""Just us," I agreed. She looked at me for one more moment, checking. Then she walked forward, closer to me and put her arms around my waist.I hugged her back. And for a second I just stayed there, my chin resting lightly on top of her head.“I am really sorry.”She pulled off a little, just enough to look at me, a smile on her face.“It’s fine now.”“Should we go now?”She nodded
