HAZEL’S POV

I could not phantom the feeling arising in my heart the moment I witnessed Killian stand up to me. Was it happiness because he spoke up to Gray and defended me? Or was it the thrill that came with knowing I had finally won him over to my side?

These thoughts clouded my head as I walked back to my room. As I placed my hand on the doorknob, a thought occurred to me. A part of me was happy that I was making progress with Killian, but another part felt terrible because I was basically lying to him.

I was only getting him to trust me, so I could use that to my advantage. The thought left a bitter taste in my mouth and I couldn’t shake the thought of my mind, but then, I vividly recalled he asked to see Celeste.

I walked into my room and I couldn’t stop anxiety from coursing through my entire being. Why had he called for Celeste? Was it the words I had told him yesterday? Did it offend him so much, that he was going to take it out on her.
