LOGINBy the time Helen finished packing a few of her clothes, set the medicine in her bag, and prepared to leave the room, Tasha arrived and seemed shocked to see Helen already prepared to leave the hostel.
"Helen, where on earth are you rushing off to?" Tasha asked as she blocked Helen's path from leaving the room. "Tasha, I do not have the time to explain to you. I have to hurry home now. It's urgent," Helen replied as she pushed past Tasha and dashed out of the room. "Fine. Call me when you get home and be careful out there," Tasha said as Helen hurried out. "Alright," Helen replied, and she made her way out of the hostel. She carried a black school bag on her shoulder as she wore a pair of black shoes and her blue dress. She walked out of the female's hostel and made her way out of the university grounds. As Helen continued trekking out of the university grounds, Samuel spotted her, as he had been searching for her. Though it was a bet, he could not help but want to speak with her. He called to her attention, "Helen!" Helen froze as she turned to look at Samuel, who hurried over to meet her. "What's it? What do you want from me?" Helen asked impatiently as she hurried to leave for her father's house. She could not believe that this bad boy proved very brilliant, as Mrs. Katherine had said. Helen pondered: Did Samuel pay Mrs. Katherine to hype him? She knew how influential Samuel was. And she did not want to get close to him. Even senior students longed for his attention. "Where are you off to, carrying a bag? Are you going home?" Samuel asked, his brows furrowed as he wondered where Helen ran off to. "Stay away from me, Samuel!" Helen warned as she attempted to run away again, but Samuel caught her right hand and pulled her back to his chest. Her body unexpectedly pressed against his hard frame, sending shivers down her spine as a man had not touched her before. Not even her brothers. Her older brother, Patrick, was ten years older than her. She was her mother's last child and a baby they had not expected after 18 years of marriage. So as Helen reached 21 years old, her older brother Patrick turned 31, and her mother, Rosemary, was a 58-year-old woman. "Stay away from me, Samuel! I am warning you!" Helen slapped Samuel across his left cheek, after her chest had accidentally pressed against him. Samuel's body felt as hard as a rock, as he sensed the huge size of Helen's ample brẹasts pressed against his chest. He caressed his left cheek, smiling as he watched her run away. He imagined how she would feel under him and when he had her náked. Samuel was no saint. Smiling, he saw some other medical students in their department looking at him as they had waited to see if he would attack Helen after she slapped him. But he left without saying anything or hurting her back. "I cannot believe that Samuel Kingston actually let that chubby nerd go. Why is he obsessed with chasing after that plus-sized woman?" Some other female students gossiped amongst themselves. Meanwhile, John had just stepped out of the university cafeteria when he saw Helen slap Samuel for holding her hand, and Samuel did not do anything to retaliate. "Samuel is wasting his time and bet on Helen. He should get prepared to pay me my 10 million," John said with a smile as he thought about other ways to get his revenge on Helen. He went back to the men's dormitory to find Samuel. "Samuel, I cannot believe you let Helen leave after she publicly humiliated you and slapped you before the other medical students. Why not slap her back?" John asked aloud as he barged into the room. Alex and Eric peered at John in shock. "What? Helen did what? That chubby nerd? What's wrong with her? Samuel, how can you allow Helen to humiliate you publicly and let her leave?" Eric asked, his voice laced with irritation. Samuel smiled as he took off his white top and sniffed it. His shirt automatically filled with Helen's lavender scent. "What do you want me to do? Grab Helen and slap her back? Don't forget, I have a bet with John, and it's not like I am going to raise my hand on a woman," Samuel replied, his voice blunt as he turned to look back at his friends, who stared at him in shock. "The deal is to get Helen, and I must get her. It's only a matter of time," Samuel said with a smile, and his three roommates glared at him like he had lost his mind. "I would have slapped Helen back if I were the one she had humiliated like that publicly. I still cannot see what you see in that chubby nerd. She is not a genius either, and she has not even created any medicine or anything. She is only intelligent, yet as poor as a church rat," Eric spat, and Alex sighed and tapped his back. "Just let them deal with the bet, Eric. You do not have to drag Helen's family background into it. It's not her fault that she was born in a poor home," Alex said, as he came from an average family before his father became rich. He did not like to look down on anyone. Eric glared at Alex and asked him, "Have you suddenly developed a soft spot for Helen too? I cannot believe that you have fallen for her charm. Get lost!" Eric left the room, and the three men sighed. "John, the bet is still on till next year. If I fail, I will pay you the money, but if I win, get ready to pay me off," Samuel said with a smirk. "Mmm. I will like to see you lose the deal. How about we raise it to a 15-million-bet?" John asked with a smirk, and Alex's eyes widened in shock in the room. "What? You guys are crazy? What makes you think that Helen will agree? What if she never agrees to it, Samuel? Are you willing to lose 15 million for this? Where do you plan to get such money from? Do you plan to ask your father?" Alex asked, his voice filled with concern as he stood up from his own bed and walked in between John and Samuel. "You guys should cut off this bet. Helen is not like other young women, and she will not fall for this. Samuel…" Alex looked at Samuel and advised him, "You should not increase the bet or agree to John's offer." Samuel's smile faded a little as he thought about how Helen had smacked him for pulling her back to his chest. But the way his body felt so hard and filled with a primal desire to claim her, he had not felt that way before. He reasoned that he would get her. She could have felt the sparks too. As he recalled how her big eyes widened in shock when their bodies touched and how her cheeks had turned red. "Deal!" Samuel said, and Alex gasped, "What?" "We are not going to have a verbal agreement alone. We need to sign it down on a document, so that John does not back off. If he lose, he will pay me 15 million. And if I lose, I will pay him 15 million," Samuel said, his voice serious. When Helen arrived at the bottom of the stairs, she walked into the living room and spotted her mother standing by the dining table and arranging the chairs."Good morning, Mom," Helen greeted her mother with a warm smile on her face. She was dragging her box along, and Rosemary smiled upon seeing her daughter's happy face. She knew it was the young man who had come to visit them that made Helen glow in the morning brightness.Rosemary stood in a milk-colored nightdress as she donned a pair of black slippers. Her husband was still upstairs in the room, sleeping."Morning, Helen. Are you leaving this early? It's just after 7 a.m.," Rosemary inquired with a smile as Helen walked up to the dining room to meet her.Helen left her box in the living room and walked up to join her mother in arranging the remaining dining chairs, as her mother had busied herself with cleaning the whole house."I know, Mom," Helen replied with a smile. "I want to be on campus on time to catch up with where I l
John was getting ready for his bath, even though it was late and midnight."That bìtch isn't worth my time. I can have anyone that I want.""Alright. I just thought you got annoyed. Though it was disrespectful for Tasha to say that about you, I didn't think you should take it to heart," Samuel replied with a smile."Really? What if you found out that Tasha liked you? Would you date her?" John queried as he pinned his gaze on Samuel's face.Samuel's expression darkened, and he replied, "No way. She is not my type.""Mm. The same thing you said about Helen, but you ended up chasing after her like a lovesick fool, forgetting that it was all a bet.""John," Samuel's expression darkened, and John laughed at last. "What did I lie? What man goes to a woman's house if not that he is in love with her?""I am not in love with Helen," Samuel retorted, and John smirked."We shall see about that." John exited the room to have his bath, while Samuel lay on his bed, annoyed.*Why does John think tha
Helen was stunned in her room when she heard Tasha mention that she wasn't the one who had given Samuel Kingston her house address."If Tasha isn't the one who gave Samuel my house address, then who did?" Helen pondered as she lay on her bed.She went online and searched through her friend list. She had many new friend requests, but she didn't waste her time adding anyone. Her profile was on private mode, and she didn't want pretentious friends. Only a handful of her relatives and family members were on her list, but since her father's company got sold, Helen noticed some of her relatives had unfollowed her.She sighed and added Samuel, as she needed him to explain where he got her home address.*Did he hire someone to monitor me?* Helen pondered as she nervously accepted Samuel's friend request. She clicked on the direct message and sent him a message:Helen: "Samuel, who gave you my home address? Did you hire someone to stalk me?"Helen felt uneasy about it. She couldn't imagine tha
"It's fine. You don't have to explain yourself. I won't be against it if you want to date John. He's a single guy, after all," Samuel pressed, clearly amused, but John was silent, observing Tasha's reaction. She had rejected him even before he had the gut to ask her out."I am not into John. He's not my type of guy," Tasha replied dismissively, wanting to get away. She could feel John's gaze burning behind her back, and she dared not look at him. Surprisingly, John didn't confront Tasha like she had thought. She assumed it was because Samuel was there and a few other students. John also respected Samuel a lot.Tasha knew that she would have a death wish to say that directly to John's face, so she didn't dare to look back at him."Oh, is that so?" Samuel inquired, clearly amused as he chuckled and drew nearer to Tasha, even as the night had fallen."So who is your type of guy?" he asked her, standing in front of her. "Because John is the hottest of them. And I don't know who is better
As Helen sat across from her mother in the dining room, having dinner after Samuel had left, her heart raced. She felt shy because she hadn't expected Samuel to visit."Helen, are you going to eat your food, or are you waiting for it to get cold?" Rosemary asked calmly, smiling at her daughter's flushed face. She had been planning to ask Helen about her private life and if she had a boyfriend.Though Rosemary knew she supported her husband willing his company to Helen before they lost it, she didn't want to put too much pressure on her daughter. After all, Helen was her only daughter and her lastborn child. But she was concerned that her daughter wasn't in any relationship.Rosemary had wondered if it was because Helen was chubby and the guys at a private university like Avalon's City University didn't spare her a glance. As a mother, Rosemary wanted her daughter to settle down so that she could be at peace with herself and the fact that her husband wasn't rich anymore. She didn't wan
"Wait, Helen, aren't you happy to see me?" Samuel asked as he turned to face Helen.Helen crossed her arms over her chest, standing by the gate entrance of her father's house, and replied, "I am not happy to see you. What do you want here? How do you know my father's address?"Helen watched as Samuel's eyes followed her body, from her chest down to her blue shorts, and up to her face again."You don't dress like this at the university. Why? Hiding your God-given gift?" he asked her with a smile, watching her face as her cheeks flushed."Samuel, you don't talk like this, either. Don't flirt with me. We are sworn enemies. So shoo away," Helen waved her arms for Samuel to leave, surprised that he had found her home address. She spotted the black car waiting to take him back."You should leave, Samuel. I don't want to see you," Helen repeated, knowing that her father had been defrauded by Samuel's father."I am not leaving," Samuel replied calmly. "I came to take you to the university. Di
