Episode 1
.
Nathan stood at the corner of his house watching his schoolmates make a funny mess of theirselves.
They were all in his grade though.
While they were all drinking and having a great time of their lives, he who was hosting the party, was watching out to make sure his house wasn’t going to be destroyed.
Nathan was tired, miserable and pissed off, quite simply not in the mood. Most of his sour mood could be chalked up to him losing the previous school match.
Although, others took the failure well, he was still dazed by the whole thing.
He wasn’t used to being beaten.
But then why is he hosting a party in the first place ?
It wasn’t because his mum was away on a trip.
He was the captain, he was supposed to make his teammates and apparently others happy so they wouldn’t feel the pain accompanied with losing their match.
Of course, the party took away their pain.
But not his.
Nathan glanced around noticing the party was getting dead, girls kept on videoing themselves, dancing and smiling for their Snapchat stories.
While a few others, were just sitting and drinking in small groups probably dealing with being drunk.
He sighed wandering around his house looking for his best friends.
He ran into one of his closest friends, Jordan who was walking with his boyfriend, Hal.
They were definitely up to something.
Giving them a mischievous smile, Nathan walked out back door.
He went over to sit on the patio laying his head back against the wall of the house.
It wasn’t very comfortable outside but inside, was giving him a headache.
Maybe it was a bad idea to throw a party and invite everybody in different Grade.
He watched the stars in the big black sky as they shone upon him.
Something rustled in the darkness making Nathan glance at the side.
“Who’s there ?”.
“Fuck!”.
A person muttered in response.
The person rounded the corner and appeared.
Nathan furrowed his eyebrows not knowing who the boy was.
Who was he ?
Does he go to his school or did someone from his school or team invited him?
The boy’s hair was wild and disheveled, he seemed to have had an emotional break down which was obvious from the red puffiness of his eyes, the snot running from his nose and the wet shine on his cheeks.
Even while crying, the boy seemed cute to him.
Of course, he was handsome with his tanned skin, honey colored eyes and a mark on his left cheek.
The boy stumbled forward almost falling but Nathan caught him immediately trying to steady him.
“Hey, easy!”. He said nicely.
“Ouch!”. The boy muttered sitting on the floor instead. “Don’t touch me, it hurts “.
Withdrawing his hands away, Nathan stared at the boy’s wrists noticing the red mark similar to the one on his cheek.
Had someone bullied the boy?
Or was he roughed up ?
“Are you okay ?”.
“N-No!”. His eyes were filled with tears and his bottom lips trembled.
Nathan was startled by the shift in emotions, he wasn’t expecting the boy to cry.
Confused, he watched him wondering if he should comfort him or if he should go get one of his nicer friends, like Jeremy, to calm him down.
By this point, the boy had tears streaming down his cheeks and he occasionally hiccuped. “I-I came here to to forget the pain but I can’t get it out of my memories “.
“Forget what pain ?”.
“I can’t forget that they hate me so much “. His entire body was wracked with trembles as he continued sobbing. “Why do they hate me ? Nobody notices me, everybody hates me “.
Nathan sighed confused, he didn’t know who or what the boy was talking about.
“Hey, calm down. I don’t hate you”. Nathan placed his hands on top of the boy’s trembling hands as he sniffles, seeming to have calmed down a little bit.
“You don’t hate me ?”. The boy moved his hands flopping one over Nathan’s shoulder and rubbing the other one down his chest.
Nathan’s heart fluttered as he felt the hand running lightly down his chest.
“Hey, you are drunk. I don’t think__”.
His sentence was cut short by the boy smashing his lips against his.
Nathan wrapped his hands around his waist letting his hand adjust comfortably around it feeling a mixture of the fabric of the shirt and the soft skin that was poking out.
His mouth was sweet, something fruity in the taste. The warmth of his body pressed against Nathan for a while before they pulled away breaking the kiss.
“I didn’t imagine you would kiss me back considering how much of a womanizer you are in school“. The boy muttered. “You are such a dick “.
Nathan paused staring at him. “How do you know that ? You go to my school ?”.
“Yeah”. The boy scoffed laughing a little bit. “You don’t know me though. I’m the unnoticed kid who sits at the back so he doesn’t get bullied “.
“I’m not a dick “. Nathan muttered remembering what he was called.
The boy rolled his eyes. “Sleeping around is what dicks like you do, everybody in school knows that “.
“You don’t know the real me “. He argued.
“It doesn’t matter. I don’t like you either ways”.
“You just kissed me and now you are talking shitty things about me?”. Nathan scoffed. “What if I want you to like me ?”.
The boy arched his eyebrows. “And how would you change my mind ?”.
An uncanny smile came on Nathan’s face as he drew in closer for another kiss.

Ivan pried his eyes open, conscious of the sunlight streaming in through the flannel curtains, his eyelids felt like they were weighed with lead.
Last night had sucked all of his energy out and the terrible hangover was a testimony enough.
Finally after much debate, he squeezed an eye open and looked at the decorated cream colored ceiling.
Ivan moved on the bed and paused as if realizing something. He checked under the soft sheet and sighed seeing he was still in his clothes.
Instantly, he sat up, fully awake.
He glanced around his surroundings realizing this wasn’t where he was supposed to be.
King size bed, mahogany furniture, the walls were pastel and covered with an expensive wallpaper.
On a bedside table stood a lamp, an assortment of fruits and chocolates stood neatly stacked nearby.
A crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling and the floor was covered in a rich, plush carpet.
Wow!
Ivan scoffed taking in the objects of the room realizing it must be an expensive one.
He groaned resting back on the bed as he was busy racking his brain trying to think of last night and ended up in a stranger’s bed.
But his thoughts were fuzzy.
He remembered that he was in a party, yeah.
But that was it.
He couldn’t even remember if he slept with someone.
Even if he did, Whether it was a girl or ...
Widening his eyes, Ivan gasped remembering bits of what happened.
Or a boy.
The door opened and Ivan groaned seeing who appeared.
Nathan Calloway.
So his thoughts were correct.
He did kiss him.
“Hey..”. Nathan waved still standing by the door. “Glad to see you are awake”.
“Well I’m not feeling glad”. Ivan muttered getting off the bed hurriedly as he looked around for anything of his.
“Your shoes are there “.
He glanced to where Nathan pointed and walked there grabbing his converse as he began putting them on.
“About last night ... “.
“Apart from the kiss. We didn’t sleep together last night, did we ?”. Ivan asked cutting him off.
“Uh, no, we didn’t”.
“Good”.
Nathan cleared his throat, still blushing from the remembrance of the kiss. “Hey. I need to talk to you about something, you mentioned something last night, are you being bullied ?”.
“If it was about what I said, forget it. I say dumb stuffs when I’m drunk “.
“Yeah but the evidence was there, there were marks on your face like you got slapped or something like that, maybe”.
Hearing his words, Ivan winced a little bit knowing he was right.
Someone had abused him.
But he wasn’t ready to start spilling things to Nathan.
Ivan stood up. “I appreciate the concern but it’s none of your business. If you will excuse me, I have to go “.
Nathan nodded stepping out of the way for him to pass. “I’ll see you in school then “.
“I hope we don’t see each other “. Ivan replied heading out of the room.

I feel like sexual assault against the male genders is not talked about as much as in the case of the female genders. As a friend to a few males who have been molested by people who were supposed to care for them, I knew I had to write about it someday. And I hope I was able to bring awareness to this, however little, through Ben. It’s never okay to molest a child. It’s never okay to molest anyone. That being said, here are some fun facts about this book; 1. It’s my first attempt at teenfiction. I was almost certain readers would notice and call me out on that. 2. BBTB was supposed to be a short story project. I was so worried it would be a flop so I planned to make it between 40-80 chapters. But the story grew wings and took off on its own. 3. This is the longest story I have ever written. I am just as surprised as you are and I was pleasantly shocked to see comments wanting their lovestory to go on for much longer. Those comments kept me going even on the bad days. So, thank y
It hurts too much. My body is on fire and it’s not yet right to push. Why isn’t it time? I need them to get the baby out of me. Not later, now. Sweat drips down my forehead and my eyes sting with tears. The doctor has stopped the bleeding. I have been cleaned up, changed into a hospital gown. They say everything is fine but it’s not. The contractions are ripping me from inside out and all Ben does is mutter unintelligible gibberish. He put the baby inside me, he should experience the pain too. “Are you okay?” Ben asks. I glare at him. How can I be okay? Whatever the doctor gave me is keeping me awake so I have no respite from the pain. Ben pushes my hair away from my sweaty forehead and I lean into him for comfort. I’m tired but I’m glad our son is okay. “I’m sorry, Gracie,” my husband says. Pushing past my pain, I offer him a questioning glance. Maddie is fine, right? My parents are okay too, right? Ben wipes the tears spill
I am packing up for Maddie’s weekend getaway when Ben strolls into her room. He picks a toy from the floor, tosses it into the air and catches it. I stall when he crosses over to me. All his attempts to take over the packing from me are futile. He protests by shaking his head. I am pregnant, not handicapped. When the bag is zipped up, I lower myself to the bed to catch my breath. Maybe I should have let him do it. But he never lets me do anything.Worried eyes stare into mine as Ben kneels between my legs. I’m fine, just tired. I pick the stuffed bear he dropped on the bed and sniff it. It smells like Maddie. And if I listen closely, I’ll hear her voice as she sings along with her favourite characters on TV.Maddie’s grandparents—my parents are in town because I’m due next week. They don’t want to miss it. She’s spending the weekend with them.Ben pries the bear from me and traces the
Laughter erupts from the living room, a kid’s voice follows and my lips curve in a smile. I pause the YuuTube tutorial I’m watching and set my tab down on the counter. I’m trying a new recipe I found online. Ben has been working extra hours so he can’t cook as much anymore and I’m tired of takeouts for dinner. With a hand under my belly, I meander to the living room. Maddie is on her feet, clapping and giggling at the television. There’s an old show playing. A family series I starred in one year after graduation. I clear my throat and my baby girl spins to face me. She grins and everything feels right. The nine hours of labour, the screams, the pain. They don’t matter.Running towards me, she stops a few inches from me and grabs my hand. “See Mummy,” she says, pointing at the television. I’m helping the second male lead set up his outfit for work. Her blue eyes flash with childlike innocence when she run
I feel the stare before I turn to Maria. “Will you stop?” I mutter. She says nothing but her eyes lower to my swollen belly, making it so obvious she had been staring. “Maria Vega.”“Theresa Carter.”Pink colours my cheeks. I hide my face in my palms and she bursts out laughing. It still feels so surreal being Mrs Carter, Ben’s wife. Our wedding was small and private like we both wanted. Aside from our family, we had our friends. Maria. Leah. Mira. Calum. Olivia also showed up. She and Ben are still in contact. We are kind of cool.Thinking about the wedding makes me smile and I twist the ring on my forth finger. My promise ring remains on my middle finger.I sit up and cross my legs. There are some pictures from the wedding scattered all over the living room floor. Maria didn’t get a chance to see them before her flight. She had a concert that day. I rub a hand over my stomach. Ben didn’t
Where is Ben? We will be late.I step out of the bathroom in only a towel and sashay to the wardrobe to get the gown for our date. There are a few options but I select a navy blue off-shoulder gown. Flipping through my playlist, I settle on Maria’s new single and settle down in front of the vanity to make myself up.A smile curves my lips as I brush my hair. I don’t look so bad at all. The makeup tutorial classes on YuuTube and Maria’s extra sessions come in handy as I apply foundation to my face. My gaze flies to the door. I’m in my room. Ben wasn’t in his room when I checked but he should be getting ready. The door creaks. I look up but Ben doesn’t walk in. My eye makeup is done. I apply a bright red lipstick and the door finally opens. Ben stalks into the room wearing a tux. My man is hot but in a suit and Oxford leather shoes, he is hotter. He closes the door with his foot and leans on it so I can assess
