Chapter 4

Author: Orange Apple
I still had not gotten my hands on the signed divorce papers, and it was getting closer to the date I was supposed to leave the country. I had no choice but to use the method I detested most of all. I put on sexy lingerie and took a suggestive picture of Kevin and me.

After taking numerous provocative pictures, I sent them all to Kandi, which worked like a charm, because Kevin's phone started ringing right away. He wanted to hang up, but I pressed his hand down and picked up the call for him. Kevin jerked his head up to look at me. "Evie…"

I said to him earnestly, "You should pick up the call, what if it's an emergency?"

Kevin put the speaker on silent mode and looked at me like he wanted to say something, but when he saw how calm I was, he finally said, "Let me take this call, Evie, and I'll come back to accompany you in a while."

I picked up a bag of chips from the table and started crunching away while listening to what was happening with Kevin. I could vaguely hear Kandi crying while Kevin tried to soothe her. When the call was finally over, Kevin came to me, looking hesitant.

I immediately said with great understanding, "You should go if you're busy. You don't need to accompany me."

Kevin let out a long sigh while still gripping his phone. "Please don't be mad, Evie, but the company has only just started doing well…"

I stopped him and said softly, "I know. Just go."

Kevin did not say anything much when I encouraged him to leave. Before he walked out the door, he said solemnly to me, "Give me one week to take care of things, Evie. After that, we'll go on a one-week vacation to Mountain City, where you've always wanted to go."

When I was young, and my parents were still alive, they brought me on a long vacation in Mountain City, which was why I always had a soft spot for it. When Kevin and I got together, I was constantly talking about going to Mountain City for a short trip, but he rejected the idea because of work.

Yet, I had seen Kandi's social media account posting pictures of Kevin taking her for a trip to Mountain City. Moreover, Kandi would be three months pregnant in a week. Once the baby was stable, Kevin would finally have time to take me on a trip. However, I no longer wanted to go anywhere with him.

I lowered my eyes and smiled, but I nodded in the end. After Kevin left, Kandi taunted me with another text.

[It doesn't matter how slutty you are, Kevin would still choose me in the end.]

I did not deny it.

While Kevin was still on his way to see Kandi, I decided to negotiate with her.

[Haven't you always wanted to be Mrs. Graham? Do something for me and I'll make your wish come true.]

Kandi was more than happy to oblige. She was worried I would go back on my word, so she immediately sent me intimate pictures of Kevin and her the moment he arrived at her place. I saved every one of those pictures.

When it was about 11:00 pm, Kevin came home drunk. He held me in his arms the moment he got home and apologized to me as he nuzzled me. I cajoled him patiently despite seeing his body covered with hickies.

"You're such a wonderful person, honey. All I want is to pluck the stars down from the sky and give them to you."

My eyes brightened as I knew this was the perfect time. I grabbed the divorce papers and cajoled him into signing them. Kevin put down his pen as he tried to read the papers. "What's this, honey?"

I took the papers from him and smiled while lying, "It's a check! Didn't you say you wanted to give me the stars?"

There was a chance he would lose his legs.I raised an eyebrow when I heard the news but did not comment further besides acknowledging it. The friend was someone who had witnessed how my relationship blossomed with Kevin and how it ended between us. All she did was sigh and hang up.After that, my life became peaceful again.…A few days later, I was working overtime to record a song when my phone started to ring continuously. I walked out of the recording studio to pick up the call, and I heard Kevin's mother crying on the other end."Evie, I know I shouldn't be calling you, but Kevin might not make it. The doctors said that he has lost the will to live, but he's my only son. I'm begging you, Evie. Please come back to see him."I was moved by his mother's hysterical crying. Even though I rarely met Kevin's parents after marrying him, they had always treated me well whenever we sa

Kevin grabbed my hand before I could pull away and begged, "I made a mistake, Evie. I know this is my fault, but please give me another chance to prove myself. Please…"I pushed him hard to get him out of my house. "How dare you even ask for forgiveness, Kevin? Have you any idea how heartbroken I was when you cheated on me?"Before I could finish, Kevin quickly said, "I know, Evie! I really know how much it will hurt you. I just thought…""What did you think? That I was barren and couldn't give you children? That if you hid your affair well, I would never find out the secret of you cheating on me?" I took a step closer with each accusation pointed at him.Kevin shook his head while backing away with tears of regret flowing down his face. I had never seen him cry that way in all our years together, but why was he crying when I made his wish come true by letting Kandi become the new Mrs. Graham?I turned away from him and said coldly, "Stop your act, Kevin. You don't love me. The on

Evie's POV:Meanwhile, I had landed in Fandola, and I headed straight to where my childhood friend, Tina Fielding, was. It had been years since we last met, and I was worried it would be an awkward reunion. However, Tina did not give me any room to feel awkward. She started chattering about all the interesting things that happened to her the moment she and I met. In the end, Tina asked, "What do you plan to do in Fandola, Evie?"I already had a plan. I used to be a popular online singer, but I became a housewife after marrying Kevin so that I could spend more time with him. Now that I had seen how my relationship was a sham, I started singing again.Tina helped me set up a working office, and without anything to distract me, inspiration flowed, and I released two songs within a month. I looked up at Kevin and replied earnestly, "You should go. Focus on your work." For some reason, Kevin could not shake the feeling that something was about to happen. Before he left, he kept reminding me, "Honey, wait for me, alright? I'll be home soon to accompany you."He kept looking at me like he could not bear to leave, and I finally had no choice but to get up and push him out the door while saying, "Go. I'll wait for you at home." Kevin finally drove off, and I watched his car vanish around the corner of the street before turning away. I placed the divorce papers and my abortion documents into the safety deposit box and texted the password to Kevin after that.[You can collect your presents after you come home.]Kevin replied right away: [Alright, honey. Wait for me. I'll be home soon.]I did not reply to his last text, but grabbed my luggage and headed to the airport. I clicked into my phone to see the pictures. The first one was of both of them having a candlelight dinner. The second picture showed Kevin accompanying her, giving their unborn baby prenatal education. The third picture was of their passionate embrace in bed, while the fourth showed Kevin carrying Kandi into the bathroom and cleaning her up.As for the last picture, it showed Kevin unable to hold himself back in the bathtub, and he took Kandi once more in the water……I watched those erotic pictures over and over calmly, and finally added them to my video clip. After I was done, I saved the clip in my inbox and set the timer to 7:00 pm the next day for the clip to be emailed to Kevin and Kandi. I thought they would be very happy to receive the clip, which I made specially for them. After all, it was them expressing their true love for each other. When the clock struck midnight, something unexpected happened. Kevin actually came home. I was busy packing up the last of everything

I had two days left before I was completely free.Kevin went off to work after much cajoling from me. He initially refused to leave my side and wanted to take me out for a drive, but I pointed to the pink safety deposit box and said mysteriously, "Don't you want your present? It's in there. If you don't focus on work, I'll destroy whatever is in there." His eyes brightened after hearing my words, and he tried various ways to open the safe, but to no avail. After that, Kevin kept bugging me about it, but I refused to give him the password. In the end, he had no choice but to go to work obediently. Before Kevin left the house, he kept confirming, "You'll tell me the password in two days, won't you, honey?" I nodded. "Of course. I hope you'll love your present."Kevin replied earnestly, "I'll love whatever you give me, Evie." I smiled without replying, and I suddenly felt a little regretful that I would not be able to see his face when he found out the truth. It would have been
