Chapter 6

Author: Peanut Butter
Lydia and I exchanged a look. She saw it in my eyes and nodded, adding it to the call.

Johnny stared at me, stunned. "Sienna, what are you doing? Why are you divorcing me? Is this because of Lily? I told you, I'm just trying to help her recover faster."

I glanced at the arm he'd had around Lily this whole time and gave a faint smile. "I'm doing this for Lily too. Once you divorce me, you can take better care of her. You can marry her, make her your bride. Maybe she'll recover even faster."

His eyes lit up. A confident smile pulled at his lips. "Sienna, I knew you were just mad. We had something good. Whatever this is, we can talk it out—"I cut him off and pointed at the divorce papers on the table."We don't have anything to split. Sign before you leave. We're done."The smug look froze on his bruised, swollen face. For a second, he looked ridiculous. His brows knit. "I'm not agreeing to a divorce. I told you, I had my reasons. Why do you keep twisting this?"I held his gaze. "We're getting divorced. I'll say it again. Sign."He stared back. "No. I'm not signing. What are you gonna do about it?"I smirked. The next second, my uncles and brothers closed in, fists tight, fury all over their faces."If you don't sign, you're not leaving.""You touched our sister. That's on all of us.""Keep stalling, we'll show up three times a day and make it a routine."Johnny got wrecked again. He howled, "Stop! I'll sign, I'll sign!"Out of options, he signed. The second h

Panic hit Johnny's face. "Mom—"George patted his shoulder. "Relax. I'm still CEO. I make the calls, not her. She can't just remove me. If she wants a divorce, fine. I'm done dealing with her. She'll come crawling back."Peggy's gaze flicked, then she leaned into him. "George, I always knew you had it in you. I was right. Lily and I will be counting on you."Just like that, his ego puffed back up. He stood taller, smug, scanning the room. The Leightons didn't react. Just cold stares.Another knock hit the door.Lydia smiled. "He's here."Michael, our lawyer, walked in and handed George and Johnny each a set of divorce papers. He faced Lydia. "Ms. Leighton, based on your prenup with George Howe—and proof of his wedding with Peggy Roche—he's in violation of the infidelity clause. If this goes to court, we've got over a ninety-five percent chance of winning."He passed her another file. "Also, per your order, the company has officially removed him as CEO. The fast-track process i

The door swung open. People filed in—one after another. More than a dozen.George and Johnny both stepped back on instinct. Some were my uncles and brothers. One look at me—bruised, a mess—and their faces went hard. No words. They closed in on Johnny and started swinging.Johnny covered his head, yelling, "Stop! Please, stop! Sienna, tell them to stop! We can talk this out!"The rest stood behind Lydia—Leightons, all of them. Gray-haired elders, younger ones too. They'd already heard everything on the way over. Lydia had been humiliated. George had cheated. The whole family was done with him.The Leighton men went straight for George. The women closed in on Peggy, ready to make her pay.The room filled with screams. George, Johnny, Peggy—they all begged us to make it stop. When everyone finally backed off, George and Johnny were wrecked—bruised, swollen, groaning.Peggy looked just as bad. Hair a mess, makeup smeared, face red and puffy, buttons ripped off.No one touched Lil

"Johnny, I want to be your bride. I want to wear a wedding dress for you, okay?"He forced a smile and finally let her go. "Okay. Go play for a bit. I need to talk to Sienna."Holding back his anger, he pulled me a few steps away and dropped his voice. "Sienna, stop. I know you're upset, but I only see Lily as a little sister."She can't handle stress. I have to go along with what she wants. I didn't expect you to react like this."I'm not agreeing to a d

Lydia froze. "George... you were home the whole time? I was almost stripped and humiliated just now. Are you even a man?!"George came downstairs. Peggy slipped her arm through his like it was nothing. He didn't pull away. Just said, low, "I was in a meeting. Couldn't step out. I came as soon as it ended. Peggy didn't recognize you—that's all this is. A misunderstanding. She knows she was wrong. Let it go."That was all Lydia needed to hear. She gritted her teeth. "I must've been blind. You really cheated. You've been lying to me this whole time. When did you and this bitch start?"George glanced at Peggy, soft, then said, "Lydia, it's not what you think. Peggy's my ex. I hurt her back then by marrying you."Devastated, she rushed into a marriage. After she had Lily—Lily has autism—she got kicked out."She's suffered all these years. I only ran into her again five years ago. I just wanted to make it up to her. Nothing happened between us."Lydia let out a sharp laugh. "Five yea

Our clothes were already ripped. While we waited for George, we planned to change.Johnny unlocked the doors. Peggy and Lily walked in first, like they owned the place. The second I stepped inside, my chest dropped. The living room was unrecognizable. The pricey art Lydia bought at auction was gone, replaced with tacky gold décor. The sleek smart system? Ripped out. In its place—bulky, gold-trimmed furniture. What used to feel clean and sharp now screamed cheap new money, like a mall jewelry store stuffed with glitter.A vein throbbed at my temple. I didn't even need to look at Lydia.Peggy stood off to the side, sneering. "This place had zero taste before. Plain, try-hard, like it was scared to look expensive. I fixed it. Now it actually looks rich."That's when it clicked for Lydia—the renovation bill. Her fists tightened. She held it in.She headed upstairs to her room to change.Peggy cut her off, pointing lazily at a maid's room in the corner. "Your stuff's in there. J
