Her heart skipped once a quiet jump she couldn’t control but she answered slowly.

“Hello…?”

There was no breathing on the other end.

No movements.

Not even a whisper.

Just… silence.

Her fingers trembled a little as she held the phone closer to her ear. She thought maybe the call had dropped but then, a deep male voice spoke. Low. Calm. Cold.

“Lena…”

Her grip tightened instantly.

That voice…

It wasn’t Damian.

It wasn’t Darius.

It wasn’t familiar at all.

Her chest tightened slightly.

“Who is this?” she asked, her voice barely steady.

“You’ll know,” the man replied.

Then click.

The call ended.

Just like that.

No explanation.

No number saved.

No answers.

Lena stared down at the dark screen, feeling her heartbeat echoing inside the quiet room. The shadows suddenly looked taller. The air suddenly felt heavier.

Someone had called her.

Someone who knew her name.

Someone who didn’t want to be known.

She swallowed and forced herself to breathe. She shook her head, tryi

Days has passed and it was just two days before the audition, Clara worked hard to help Lena prepare. She set a chair by the window so the sunlight fell on Lena’s face.“Lean back,” Clara said as she applied a cool face mask. “This will make your skin look fresh.”Lena closed her eyes. The scent of aloe and honey was calm and soft. She could hear Clara humming a quiet tune.“You are helping me too much,” Lena said.Clara smiled. “It is my duty to make sure you shine, ma’am.”After removing the mask, Clara helped her practice walking.“Straight shoulders. Look ahead. Slow steps.”Lena walked across the room. Her legs shook a little.Clara clapped once. “Better. Let’s watch another model.”She opened a video on her phone professional runway clips.Tall women walking slowly and confidently.Lena tried again. Her steps were steadier now.“You will do great,” Clara said with a proud grin......Finally it was the Audition DayOn the morning of the audition, Lena stood in front of the mir

The headline finally loaded. “The Mafia’s Stolen Bride? Inside the Mystery Life of Lena Blackwood” A picture of her face the same one she had just posted was plastered all over the screen. Her stomach twisted. She opened the comments, hoping maybe just maybe there was something kind. She was wrong. “Gold digger.” “She looks dumb.” “So this is the girl who made Damian Blackwood marry her?” “Probably just a toy.” “I bet she’s boring in bed.” More insults came cruel, disgusting, endless. She tried to scroll fast, but every word cut deep. Her chest tightened and tears threatened to fall, but she blinked them back. Then something different. A short notification. A tag. A fashion show advertisement. “New faces needed. Height: 5’8 and above. Model training provided. Audition next week.” A tag under it: @LenaBlackwood you should try this. She stared at the screen. Her height… about 5’9 Her skin… smooth and glowing Her body… slim waist, long le

  • One Bride, Two Masters    The World outside Also Had Claws

“I’m leaving the house today,” Lena said quietly as she stood in the hallway, ready to go.Darius stepped forward. “Where are you going? Do you need company?”“No,” Lena replied. “I want to go alone.”Damian leaned on the wall, arms folded. His eyes followed her like a cold shadow.“Run around as much as you want,” he said. “Just don’t embarrass the family.”Lena ignored him and walked out.Mr. Cole, the driver grandma grace appointment for lena, opened the car door for her.“Where to, ma’am?” he asked.“To the city,” she answered. “A boutique first.”After a long drive, the cart was finally put to halt in front of a tall building at the center of the city.Lena got down from the car and walked in.Clothes lined every wall. Lena picked a simple white dress with tiny pearls on the collar. She touched the fabric. It reminded her of the small jewels she once loved. Then a sharp voice came behind her.“Put that down.”Lena turned. A tall woman with smooth hair and heavy makeup walked forw

  • One Bride, Two Masters    THE COLD CHANGE

“I won’t let him break me,” Lena whispered to herself as she stood in front of the mirror, eyes hard, face blank. This morning was going to be different. No more soft smiles. No more acting weak.No more letting Damian think she was easy to control. If he believed she cared for Darius… he would hurt her more.So she would cut Darius off.She would freeze every feeling. She would protect herself even if it meant pushing away the only one who showed her kindness. She brushed her hair back, tied it into a neat ponytail, and stepped out of her room. The hallway felt colder today. The house was silent except for slow footsteps behind her two maids watching her with sharp eyes. She ignored them and continued walking. As Lena reached the dining room, she saw Damian and Darius already sitting. Mrs Blackwoods was at the head of the table, chin raised high. A plate had been set in front of Lena’s usual seat.Darius looked up immediately, smiling softly.“Good morning, Lena,” he greeted kindly.

  • One Bride, Two Masters    SHADOWS AND WHISPERS

“Who’s there?” Lena’s voice was soft but sharp as she stared at the moving shadow near the door. The figure froze for a moment before stepping into the light. It wasn’t a man. It was a woman in a plain black gown the same maid who always followed Grandma Grace around quietly.“Sorry, ma’am,” the woman said, bowing her head slightly. “I didn’t mean to frighten you. I was just checking if you needed anything.”Lena frowned a little. “At this hour?”The maid smiled faintly. “Madam Grace worries about you. She asked me to make sure you were alright.”Lena’s expression softened slightly. “I’m fine,” she said, though her voice carried more strength than before. The maid studied her carefully, as if measuring something unseen, then nodded. “I’ll tell her you’re doing well.”When she turned to leave, Lena stopped her. “Wait. Why does she care?”The maid looked back, her expression unreadable. “Because she sees something in you. Something the rest of them ignore.”Before Lena could ask more, t
